Spine Chill beats Spirit?

Okay- but for real. I run Spine chill almost every game (to counter stealth killers and get early warnings and such) but I just recently found a really cool use for it. I'm not sure if everybody already knows of it or not, but here:

Spine chill is goddamn good for versing a Spirit.

Once, I was pallet looping a Spirit on a pretty standard loop, until she started standing still, and during this time, her husk wasn't facing me. I stood still and wasn't sure of what to do, until I looked at my perks. I noticed that Spine chill stayed dim, and never lighted up, and turns out she was faking her phase-walk.

In another match, I was looping a Spirit in a jungle gym, and she began to stand still again. At first, Spine chill was lit up, before it dimmed. That's how I knew she was turning a corner, and pallet stunned her while she was phasing, therefore canceling it.

Imo, Spine chill is meta, and can literally be used during chases as well. The perk is your second pair of eyes while you're in a chase, like- hotdamn.

Yeah it's basically just whispers for survivors, and one of the things that make stealth killers bad

No if a spirit learns to look away while going for where they think you are......

how is a spirit going to know you have spine chill? and if they look away, they might lose you (if you have iron will, and majority of people do)

Spine chill is a god tier perk from beginner to intermediate, but there does come a point when suddenly that slot becomes more valuable for other things.

Some of the top tier ghostface mains expect and play around spinechill entirely by moon walking or looking far to the side as they approach.

Yes, I see what you mean, but during a chase I don't think they can moonwalk the entire time. If they did, you can see them through the cracks in the walls of most loops. Also, since Spine chill does have an amazing 36 meter range, it's going to notify you at least once, so any experienced survivor would know to be cautious enough to listen for any footsteps or sounds if it suspiciously stops lighting up. I have around a thousand hours in the game so I'm not an expert, (im rank one- but that doesn't matter at this unbalanced state of the game) but I have been using this technique often and it always pays off and saves my life.

As a spirit main, you can work around spine chill but it does definitely help against her.

I hate Spine Chill as a killer.

I love Spine Chill as a Survivor.

I also almost always use but but i think it should be nerfed. Maybe so it only could work agains Killer who have a active Terror Radius.. Hmm but this may could be too weak i dunno.

Spine Chill can be used during a chase if you know how to use it.

I just always run iron will

its amazing how many spirits are clueless monkeys against it.

those who bring stridor are gross tho, I don’t use it on her out of principle

Congrats! You have discovered what many of us have been saying for a while. Spine Chill is very strong against Spirit. Not to put you down, just making the point that many people would rather sit and say "YoU cAn'T oUtPlAy A sPiRiT" when at least 2 non-meta perks are SUPER effective against her.

"I just always run iron will"

"those who bring stridor are gross tho"

Are you serious with this? Stridor IS the counter to Iron Will. It's literally the entire reason I run it on Spirit, to beat those survivors using Iron Will. You don't need it for all the other survivors, you need it for ONLY the ones with Iron Will.

"its amazing how many spirits are clueless monkeys against it."

Do you even play Spirit? Because if you did against high rank survivors using Iron Will I would bet they give you the run around. Because Iron Will makes it insanely difficult to track survivors in phase, unless they are potatoes and run constantly or walk through grass. But get a not-stupid survivor with Iron Will and you will see why Stridor is so important.

If you really can't see it, let me put it another way...

"I just always tunnel survivors off a hook."

"it's amazing how many survivors just let me catch them when I'm right there when they get saved."

"Those that bring DS are gross tho, I don't use it as survivor out of principle."

Not that I actually believe this, just making a point of how absurd these kinds of statements are.

It's a better object of obsession without the risk.

You highly underrate this perk, and it is more off an expert perk then actually for beginners.

Why i think Spine Chill is the best perk in DbD:

    • It teaches you out of LOS how the killer is looking around and what his habbits are.
    • It is the by far best weapon you have vs Nurse and Spirit, the best Killers in the game. It is also extrmly strong vs Ghostface, Wraith, Myers, Pig etc
    • It counters many killer perks such as Discordance, Monitor, Tinkerer, Surveillance etc. The info alone that the killer is running one of these perks is great.
    • SC gives you extra distance. Running a killer out of chase is strong and wins you and your team time. There is nothing better then SC for that.
    • Its a great Endgame perk, especially when you are the last survivor.
    • Mindgaming as a killer is almost impossible at jungle gyms when the survivor is reading this perk perfectly.
    • 6% on everything, that is definitly great. 6% also for vaulting.. you can not underrate this value.
    • Spine Chills "penalty" is actually a benefit. Getting more skillchecks gives you a better chance to get the extra 2% for a great.
    • So many killers dont expect this perk. And when they do, there is no way they can react to it without making concessions.

I could go on and on with this list, SC is so good in any possible way. At some point i might make a Spine Chill tutorial.

    Kind regards

Yes, I used her to get a free carry to red rank, she is by far the easiest killer to play

IW and Spine Chill are the only perks that are truly solid vs her, using a perk to make her mindless gameplay easier is pretty lame, hence why I don’t use it; it’s a crutch.

idk why I’m arguing this, if people are proud of running stridor on her then they were probably never good to begin with

    Keep telling yourself that.

Majority of survivors are complete potatoes against Spirit, so yea it might seem easy most of the time. But get those rare survivors that know how to play against her and give them Iron Will I bet you will change your tune very quickly. Like how often do you just stand still and the survivor slow vaults the pallet back into your face? Yea those are the potatoes.

The “Spirit is easy” statement is so idiotic. How many good Spirit players do you run into? It’s few and far between because most players just aren’t that good including survivors. So when a mediocre Spirit runs into good survivors they get stomped because all they’ve been doing is stomping potatoes. I don’t know where all these amazing Spirits are that people go against. Most of the ones I go against are boosted.

She’s not as easy as people keep saying she is. Play her against a good team on Blood Lodge, any farm map, any gigantic map, or basically any survivor-sided map and she’s going to get gen rushed like any other killer.

She’s great in a chase (if you’re good) and can end chases quickly but she doesn’t have the map pressure AND chase ability to be completely overbearing like players claim she is.

If people wanna use Stridor on Spirit it’s their choice. Players aren’t going to feel bad about using DS, Unbreakable, Dead Hard, Adrenaline, Borrowed Time, etc...why should I feel bad that I run Stridor on Spirit because somebody thinks it’s “a crutch” and that makes me bad?

I play Huntress primarily, played spirit for awhile

she is extremely easy when compared to huntress who takes a level of skill, holding W and ending chases without any effort is boring-same reason i dropped Nurse a long time ago.

Stridor makes Spirits effortless gameplay even easier, its not even comparable to DS or Noed since those have limits and can be played around. stridor simply spirit into a game of sonar thats made already easy by default due to how loud many survivors cry in pain

”Holding W and ending chases without any effort” and you compare NURSE to this? Her skill cap is quite frankly the largest in the game. Once you’re good with her it’s easy but she takes the most “skill” in the game to use and master.

Don’t take this the wrong way but I’ve seen so many Huntress main who are so bougie. They act as though Huntress is the only skillful killer and act superior because they’ve mastered a hard killer. Not you in particular but I typically just roll my eyes and nod my head at Huntress mains.

If you think Spirit is easy then that’s your opinion but going against most survivors makes any killer look easy. I play Pig a bunch and 4K in 90% of my games but if the survivors were extremely optimal, I wouldn’t stand a chance. If you think a mediocre Spirit is going to beat a sweat squad with green toolboxes on Rotten Fields just because she has Stridor then you are wrong. A good Spirit will possibly get 2 kills, a mediocre one may get 2-4 hooks.

You could very well be great with Spirit, but I just disagree that she is an “easy killer”. She’s EASIER than Nurse and Huntress but not a braindead easy killer.
