PWYF and Deathslinger
Hey guys, I have a juicy bit of information to share with anyone looking to play Deathslinger.
For those who dont know, Play With Your Food (PWYF) is a killer perk where upon losing a chase with the obsession, you gain one token up to three. For each token your MS is increased by 3%/4%/5% respectively, and you lose a token for any offensive action you take.
Well interestingly enough, Deathslinger has some of the best synergy Ive seen yet in a Killer with this perk. Shooting your harpoon does NOT count as an offensive action, probably because the harpoon itself does not take a health state on hit. Rather, it not only preserves tokens even when hooking someone with the harpoon, but ends the chase right then and there, giving you the token automatically without even having to break line of sight with the player.
Hopefully this wasnt an unintended bug or anything, because this actually can completely change how you play the Deathslinger. Give it a try, I recommend Nemesis for finding your obsession easier, since you can go almost 4 or 5 gens never seeing the obsession if you're that unlucky.

Wait... the chase ends when you hit the harpoon? Giving the stack?
Neat.

Yeah this sounds unintended and will probably be fixed at some point.

Well now that you let bhvr know, they will patch this out within a week.

Nemesis + PWYF champ?

Just got nemesis boys. We really finna up in here. Just imagine with Rancor, Dead Mans Switch, Nemesis, and PWFY.

I know that this has been known since the PTB, so the fact that they did not change it might be an indication of things.

I actually don't understand why shooting the harpoon is not an offensive action. Bubba is not allowed to break pallets with a chainsaw without losing stacks. And the harpoon DOES injure people, it just does not down them.

The harpoon doesn't "necessarily" hurt people.
Kinda like plague

I've wondered about that, but I actually like it as someone trying to learn him. My best guess would be a combination of him being 110% move speed, already having to slow down when reloading, and not guaranteeing a down if they were already injured. We can debate all day long whether it's fair or not for that to essentially be unique to him, and I might be completely wrong, but that's my guess.

I noticed this neat interaction too.
It depends a lot on you finding your obsession though
Nemesis doesn't work at all for me as I find you never get pallet stunned as this killer

Does the stun from the chain breaking because of the survivor escaping count as a stun that triggers Nemesis?
0 -
Nope, but there are a few ways to force pallet stuns, like injuring the survivor.

Got it, thanks. Looked it up to double check, pallets and locker stuns only.

Yes! Excellent.

Pity that Devs will nerf this since it will feel "unfair" to survivors.

I was wondering if this would be a good perk for him. I just started using him a half hour ago and noticed I tend to lose the chase music if I reload after a reel+hit. It probably would be very good for him.

Not necessarily, but mostly. If it was not mostly, he would be unplayable. Like imagine of just a 20% escape rate from wiggling.

Was using pwyf yesterday. Definitely a great perk for him. Don't like using nemesis though I need the perk slot for other things

I like very much this kind of synergy between PWYF and Deathslinger. For consistency reasons, though, they should probably change it slightly, so that going into fatigue after hooking a survivor lets you lose a stack (since at that point it is an offensive action).
Not that I want this change (in fact: I don't want it :P), but objectively speaking it would be the fairest change.
