Proxy camping - A survivor favorite
Anyone love when survivors say that you're proxy camping when they're obviously hiding next to the hook, or when you're halfway across the map but come back to the hook after someone unhooks? Yeah, me too.

Survivors always complain at me for “camping” even though they’re always crowding the hook as soon as I hook someone (I’m talking 2-3 people trying to swarm the hook immediately), or they run right behind me while I’m carrying someone like I can’t hear their foot steps, or they try to hook tech. It’s like... I can stay here all day if that’s how you want to play. You wanna be toxic, you get your teammates camped. That’s how it is.
If I have a reason to leave, I’ll leave. But there’s no reason for me to leave when the whole team is in the area lmao

Yeah I have seen this a lot. He is a great camper, sit and wait til someone takes the bait and bam, hit him with the harpoon and they can't do the save.
But to address OP post, at some point you are right, it is silly not to at least check on the hook. I am against camping and tunneling, but respect a person right to play how they want, but it is silly to play the game as if there isn't a survivor over there on a hook and knowing someone will be going for them eventually.

If three survivors are piled together and I harpoon a guy who has been hooked twice I get called out for tunneling and camping. They do this even when they escape.
