Surge is very underrated

Surge is extremely underrated and in some circumstances Surge is even better than Pop.

Surge does two important things.

  1. Auto Regresses a Gen with -8% progress once you down someone. This means that if your hook is far away from a generator that was being worked on, you don't have to go back. It's already regressing. Massive time saver over the course of the trial. Even more so on smaller maps where you can get multiple.
  2. Gives a noise notification if someone is working on a generator when you down someone. So it can be a budget infectious fright because you can instantly decide to leave someone slugged and chase their teammate. Especially useful if a generator is really close to being done because you can start another chase instead of hooking someone and having the gen immediately finish because you didn't know someone else hopped on it.

It also has weaknesses. Like if survivors have sprint burst and take the chase miles away from their generator, then its not so great. But overall the perk has a lot of plus sides. Any Killer that relies on Basic Attacks to down people should really look at adding Surge to their build, especially since having generator control is one of the most important things for Killers these days.

No offense but why make threads like this, either people care enough to try ot for themselves and figure out if they like it, or they dont, who cares?

I really liked Surge when I went for Adept Demogorgon. It's one of those perks that I never expect killers to run, and it can actually give a ton of info, like you mentioned. Using it as a pseudo-Infectious Fright is awesome, because you get value even if nobody is nearby!

I also really like Surge but I just wish the wording of the perk was changed.

"This applies an additional regression of 8%". Why say additional if it's only 8%???

So you're saying when I hit someone twice, near a gen, that gen gets a whole 6 seconds of progress regressed and I get to hear a gen explode but ultimately not be able to do anything about it? AND I get to wait for a 40 second long cooldown too before I can use it again? That's insane! The value on this perk!

I think it's a decent perk but it realy depends on map and Survivors too. Once they know you have, they can try to go as far as possible from generators making this perk useless. Huge maps also makes this perk "meh" and some Killers can't use it that much (only basic attacks).

Surge is map dependent, but as you said for Stealth Killers like Myers and Ghostface it can provide similar information to Infectious Fright.

I think the cooldown should be reduced to 20 seconds or so but otherwise yeah I like the perk.

I also really like surge, but I wish it didnt have a cooldown or that it lets you activate it with your second power, but well.

I like this kind of topic, when someone brings some ideas of a underused perk. Its aways good to get ideas. Tks.

Surge+ thrilling tremors gives you BBQ and Infectious fright.

Surge explodes nearby gens --> someone is/was there

Thrilling tremors then blocks the surged gens + every gen not worked on --> gens with a red aura tell you where someone is even if its far away.

Sadly blocked gens dotn regress but i love this combination.

The 40 seconds is unnoticeable at most times and actually can come in clutch because sometimes I’ll down someone while it’s on cool down but then I’ll get to use my pop instead

No offense, but why even comment like this?

It may be obvious to you, but not others.

This is a forum, where people can talk about whatever. OP wanted to talk about an underrated perk and explain why.

Then you basically said "nobody cares, be quiet" adding nothing except salt.

No ######### people try things out for themselves, but what's the harm in someone talking about and suggesting it? And past that, why feel the need to talk down to them about it.

And apparently, the answer to ," who cares?" Is you. As you felt the need to come into the thread JUST to say nobody cares.....?

Oh wow, it's almost as if you took the absolute extremes of a hypothetical situation to forge an argument against OP and them saying surge is helpful.

My god, such value in being a sarcastic asshat!

    No. It’s not. It’s rated as a ######### perk for a reason.

I don't think Surge keeps the gen regressing though. It just applies the 8%. You still have to go and kick it.

It actually does regress the generator if nobody was on it in the first place. But it still needs to be buffed a little to be able to fair against something like PGTW.

I think it's decent, but I really want to see the regression buffed from 8% to 12%. Then I would consider ranking it at least close to PGTW. The nerf Surge received from the ptb was just another nerf I just can't understand at all. It was looking like a very nice option next to PGTW, but then they nerfed it for whatever reason.
