The perk grind is still unbearable
I have about 1,5 k hours in this game and I'm not even close to having all perks for all my survivors/killers. I have some neat builds I want to try, but I can't due to the grind fest going on in the bloodweb. Leveling up a new character is unbearable and feels like a waste of time at this point. With each killer/survivor comes an exponential growth to the grind. I'm aware of the additional perk to the bloodweb from lvl 40, but it's not really cutting it.

You aren’t kidding, just to put it in perspective before deathslinger release I had ALL perks on all my killers and three survivors. I had capped 1 million blood, plus dailies, plus rift challenges unturned in, plus I bought morning and evening from shrine...
My slinger still doesn’t have all perks, only 3 killers have his teachable, my Karina is barely 40 and only 1 survivor has her perks. I was as prepared as possible and am still struggling, I can’t imagine a new player who didn’t know all the possible prep tricks

Alright so to break this down:
There are about 207 perks you have to get through the blood web. Assuming you spend your BP on all of the cheapest stuff and are able to get the maximum perks perk bloodweb.
You need to spend about 1.6 million to get to level 50 which at that point you should have about 45 perks, leaving 162 perks to go. Assuming you can also buy all the cheapest items path, you still need to go about 81-90 more bloodwebs to get all perks. Spending between between 4.5 million BP to 5.7 million BP to perk out one person or 7.7 million to 8.9 million to P3 perk out that survivor/killer... Assuming you grind out the most, you can get about 1 million in about 3-5 hours.
So yeah, the grind is real. To be honest the devs really should look into removing perk tiers, because this would drop the total number of perks to acquire from 207 to 69 perks.

@johnmwarner Damn. If you don't mind me asking, how many hours do you have in this game?
@mouse0270 Oh yes, let's not talk about p3'ing a character. It's just not reasonable when you have unlocked all teachables.

Yes, I do not support the new DLCs. It only add more grind to the game. DBD devs can work for free, if they like. the same goes for cosmetics. I wont buy cosmetics for characters I cant really play.

It’s hard to say, I leave my game open while at work sometimes or wander away so that contributes to my time in steam. It says 5000 but I would guess 3-ish actually playing and I have watched and read a lot how to min max blood webs I also play BBQ literally every killer game

I actually think removing perk tiers would be a good idea. It sounds kind of crazy at first and people would be thinking "what about all the people who wasted BP leveling up their perks" (which is true, maybe they could find a way to compensate BP or something but I don't think that reason alone is a good enough reason to not do it) but if they did it this way then they wouldn't have to worry about having something that can increase with perk level being on every perk (so they could add a perk that just does something without tying an arbitrary extra number to it) and they will have a slightly (not much difference but it's still something) easier time balancing things because it's just one value rather than 3. And of course the obvious benefit is wayyy less grind.
It would also solve the problem of perks that are trash at level 1, and it would make the game slightly less confusing/daunting/grindy for noobs because then every perk would be consistent and they wouldn't have to worry about the level of the perk. Honestly if I was a noob right now I'd be so in over my head trying to figure out all these different perks and tiers and teachables and how I'm ever going to unlock them and get the ones I'm trying to go for without taking literally a million years. Removing perk tiers would help everyone a lot, not really much downside to it at all except for people having wasted BP on it in the past (which could probably be remedied somehow)

Sure would be nice to get another double blood point event it’s been almost three months since the last one

Sorry you feel that the completion doesn't end fast enough, but isn't that kind of the point? You're not really supposed to cap out every survivor, just the ones yu like to play, as they're all the same in terms of potential. Killers will still take ~9 bloodwebs to cap off if you've gotten everything else.

Lets say it is 6.5 mill to max out one character, you have to spend (19+1)x6.5 = 130.000.000 Bloodpoints to get for every killer and a survivor all the perks you need. If you need 5 hours for 1 Million, you need 650 hours to reach the goal. Its not that big of a deal if you really focus on bloodpoints (BBQ /WGLF + BP Offering).

wow. I have only 800 and I got all the perks for both sides except the newest survivor. Are you using BBQ or WGLF? Sitting on any BPS, escape cakes, survivor puddings?
Most of my play time is probably killer so that might explain some of it. I got like 4 killers to P3 with one of them maxed out. 2 survivors at p3 with only 1 maxed.

No no, I’m fine with it sorry I want meaning I’m upset with it really. But think of a brand new player, I’m sure at low ranks most killers are okay with just their own perks or the non-exclusive perks but once you get between 10-15 you will struggle a bit without “meta perks.”
Same for survivor, they’re just skins but having a few critical perks makes thinks easier. Now here I will say playing Meg with her perks and non-exclusives is plenty good. That’s how I started and why she’s my main even after I’ve unlocked everything.
But poor Joe Schmo sees a streamer playing Gunslinger with MA, nurse, BBQ and Sloppy and thinks if he just puts enough effort into deathslinger he can do the same... nope you’re gonna have to level 3 other killers to 40 first.
I don’t feel it’s too much of a grind for me/us but for new players it is overwhelming. Games need a goal, but this one is a bit much at times

no kidding, throw us a bone here.. a monthly weekend bloodhunt really that much to ask for?

OMG you haven't maxxed out all your characters within a week?
There is totally no need to have every character maxxed, especially not every survivor and on top you don't need to have every character on P3. This is a pure cosmetic thing from the first days when you didn't have cosmetics at all, prestige is for people who play a lot.
I'm quite happy that you face different things than just slowdown Legion, Infectious Fright + BBQ Onis and Billys, MnA + STBFL Cowboys and all the other default braindead builds.

I like the grind but wish I had offerings to bump it to BBQ n Chili levels of bp. I’m a lil sick of running it forever.

650 hours to just focus on getting everyone all perked out add another 200-300 hours to P3 them, this is only one side of the game. There are more survivors with more perks. So lets say 800 hours to P3 all killers, so about 42 hours per killer. Lowballing it because survivors have more perks, for a total of 966 hours to P3 all survivors.
Meaning to P3 both killers and survivors you are looking around nearly 1.8k hours. This is assuming you are spending about average per blood web, you are not getting screwed over. Because I know a few level 50 webs where I only got one perk instead of two.
It also assumes to don't spend any extra BP on a killer or survivor you like for additional items/addons/offerings.
lets say you don't even want to P3 everyone... lets say you just want to perk out everyone that is still about 780 hours, bringing the total to 1.4k hours. How many games do you have with 1.4k hours in it?

At this point just max all perks on 1 survivor and 1 killer that is your favorite to try out different builds

that's why i got all the perks on 1 survivor first and have kept up with new perks releasing so i can do any build i want as a survivor. However for my killers i just get them to level 50 and if i got a decent build by then i play with it otherwise i just immediately prestige them. Once i have a P3 killer i just keep leveling them until i get the perks i want.
I don't have a problem with it being a grind as long as the perks i get are worth using and i don't have to feel like resetting a character because i didn't get anything useful, If you could always get the perfect build on your characters that would be pretty boring.

Glad to see I'm not alone in this issue. Especially with DSlinger. I saved up roughly 999K BP for almost 2 weeks awaiting his release. Then once I got him I blew through all of it and my dailies and still only have maybe 2 or 3 tier 2 perks that I want on him and still hunting through the dogshit blood web. They should make the system start to eat away at red and purple items first and maybe let you get 3/4 of whatever perks are in the web. Or maybe not make me have to waste my precious points on 3 stupid ######### fog agents in a web branch to a perk I want. Like seriously who uses or cares about those these days?

They could literally make 4 perks better than BBQ in every single way like range, duration, etc and if they didn't give Bonus BP I would still run BBQ every game on every killer.
1 -
the 4 perks per bloodweb change helped a TON, but it still doesnt address how expensive buying meta addons can be for killers (and i guess offerings for survivors)
Def a step in the right direction, but it can still be pretty daunting.

Another problem is every killer makes it harder to get those 5-10 “needed perks.” Like I didn’t get BBQ level 1 on my Deathslinger until the 70th level that is absurd

Yeah it can be a little overwhelming, but that's when you tell your newbie friends to not worry about perks so much, just work on X or Y character, either Meg, Claudette, or Nea; pretty much whichever you like the most. Save your iridescent shards for whatever character you like the most, don't worry about the Shrine of Secrets unless you like one of the base characters over anything.
The only one I would recommend to buy is Nancy/Steve/Demo. Nancy has one of the strongest perks in the game(Inner Strength), and Fixated can really give you a nice idea of what your scratch marks look like to the Killers, which gives you miles of information you can use.
The idea that people need to rush through things and get all the perks in as little time as possible is a fallacy that maybe only extreme veterans really promote, to the detriment of the entire community. It's why I'm always bothered by people who answer "how to counter X" questions with "just get X perk forehead" as if they can get something like that so easily. It doesn't answer the question, it simply dismisses a new player for not understanding how to play, which frustrates them because they're now being told they need to get 24 perks all from different characters and always have them equipped just in case they run into one of 19 Killers, each of which don't offer the same experience as the last.
The community isn't very new player friendly in that manner. And the game already has a bit of a learning cliff at multiple stages. The community tells all these new players they have to get a ton of perks, which overwhelms the players before they've even started.
The best thing this community can do is inform the players that they should work on the character they like the best, and when they've gotten comfortable with playing the game with the perk loadouts they can get on any base character--maybe promote one character to get teachable perks from, like Claudette's Self-Care/Empathy, or Meg's everything, but don't tell them they need to get Dwight's Bond, Meg's everything, Claudette's everything, Jake's Iron Will, Nea's Balanced Landing/Urban Evasion, Bill's everything, David's everything, you're just asking to overwhelm new players. Stick to one character and provide them with the knowledge of the base perks that everyone can get on default.
Something like "Hey you should get Spine Chill, Kindred, Plunderer's Instinct, We'll Make It, etc, and test them out, see which ones you like the most. Along with the unique perks on the character you play, you can really make something unique and fun for you. Try them out!" Let them figure out what they need afterwards on their own time. They have plenty of time to learn, and rather than overwhelming them and making them quit, it's better to let them figure what role they like to play the most before they start dropping money and heavy amounts of grinding into this game.
It's like when you start playing an MMO your friend has been begging you to join, and then all your friend does is tell you to grind so you can get to the "real" part of the game, the part they're on. You're not enjoying yourself the entire way up and you'll probably quit before you get even halfway there, claiming the game just isn't for you, when in reality it very much could be a game you'd be into, but your friend is just too excited to let you learn along the way.
