Killer inspirations

So I have seen a lot of people asking what movies likely inspired which killers. These are just my thoughts and speculations. Feel free to add in your own theories.

Trapper - friday the 13th

Hillbilly - texas chainsaw massacre

Wraith - tbh I don't think the wraith did anything to warrant being a killer. Yes he killed numerous people but not by choice or with knowledge of the murders with the exception of his boss, who arguably was killed to ensure he himself was not killed for knowing more than he should. None the less Id say the wraith represents death rather than any specific horror film. He carries a scyth of sorts, has a bell linked to "for whom the bell tolls". If I had to pick any one movie that resembles the wraith I wpuld say hes likely inspired by predator with tones of 13 ghosts.

The nurse - silent hill (appearence only)

The Doctor - actual US governemnt covert ops labs during the cold war. Apearance was likely inspired by a combination of films including jacobs ladder and the torture scene from clockwork orange.  The doctor largely represents archaic medical practices dealing with mental health.

The hag - several films dit the bill here, don't knock twice, blair witch, etc. As far a visual asthetics id say they drew some inspiration from the wendigo.

The shape - michael myers halloween

Leatherface - texas chainsaw - ed gein

Nightmare - freddy a nightmare on elm street

The huntress - mask inspiration was likely from you're next, lore was likely inspired by momma in terms of killer psychology

The clown - john wayne gacey

The spirit - the grudge

The pig - saw (specifically 2)

Legion - heres a tricky one. Mask is likely derived from the purge, lore is fairly standard for small anarchist gangs, and likely takes psychological inspiration from the strangers (influenced by manson and the tate murders) and the manson cult in general. Now that being said although they aren't lore wise white supremacists id say watch green room if you want to see devotion and dedication in the form of a leader follower role as well as green street hooligans. To be fair the gang construct of legion seems the have tones of clockwork orange as well.

But what about the unknown 15th killer?
Ive seen people wanting classic hammer horror monsters, chucky, pinhead, jason, ghost face, and a laundry list of others including candy man.
As far as this goes I could see a "vampire" or "werewolf" being plausable while being different enough. As far as traits Id assume a vampire would run something like sanguine obsession or blood in the air where wounded survivors cause proximity boosts. Where as a werewolf could have the interesting mechanic of appearing as a survivor with a skill like full moon where the were wolf can simulate actions like gens and healing that dont actually give progress or negligible progress where in full moon is trigged and it succumbs to full out lycanthropy. Ps if it is a werewolf think rise of the lycans design not the garbage harry potter crap.

As for the other options
Ghost face - whats the point theres already enough knife killers
Candyman, how would he appear without the ritual and what as a killer makes him noticable what's his iconic kill?
Chucky - unlickely due to size, i suppose you could have a trade off where he takes a while to vault windows but slides under pallets removing pallet stun but again chucky has really ######### the bed since the first childs play and lets be honest bride of chucky was just stupid.
Jason - as much as I'd love this there is already a friday the 13th game and a ongoing rights dispute so don't hold your breath.
Pinhead- in what way would he translate well into this specific game? Further more all the hellraiser movies were trash tear soft core porn for the most part and imo don't stack up in the slasher pantheon, especially since he isn't a slasher.

The one character that no one seems to know that would just be interesting in general would be the collector. From the collector/collection he essential indescriminatly hunts people down regardless of age race and gender. The collector also has a main protagonist accross both films. The issue? Watch the movoes and see. He relies on booby traps, from bear traps to window traps to acid addhesives and fish hook webs all the way to ceiling mounted combine harvesters. Very cool movie, very cool killer. Sadly not practical as he would require at least 6 different traps with different triggers and would have to give gens away in order to lock the map down in the way he does in the movie.

My personal hope would be a werewolf. You could slip in as a survivor then trigger full moon or feral instict and just get fast as stink with true sight. But thats just me.

Id love to see evil dead ash make a survivor appearance but I don't know who his killer would be since ash has never died in film and evil ash just had a sword and an army so unless they add summonable npc hostiles or give him map chokes idk how he would work and I'd really just like to see ash as I have no one particular evil dead or aod villain I loved.

What are your thoughts, who was inspired by what? What wpuld you like the new killer to be.

Clown is somewhat similar to the Joker as both wear Ringmaster suits and use toxin gas and knives as their weapons of choice.

Doctor is likely inspired by MK Ultra and all the crazy rumours around it.

Wraiths sounds and shimmer look similar to Predator.

Spirit and Huntress are hard to say as both are combinations of their local urban legends.

Actually Legion is based off of the general years of adolescence, roughly ages 14-17. It's so simple, ugghhhh, you're just like mom, you don't understand anything, ughhh

Someone told me Legion is inspired by an incident that happened last year (just Google 'teenagers killed a homeless man').

Well im russian amd we dont really have a red woman in the mountains legend. And ju-on the grudge film was based on the myth of the restless spirit. As far as legion being scream I dont see the resemblance, if anything given behavior interactive being canadian id say its more likely mased on the canadian show slasher if anything. And yes i was referring to the mk ultra experements. Interesting theories although the clown has nothing to do with joker lol. The clown is obviously gacy as both were obese clowns and both used noxious chemicals in the assault and ######### of their victims. Eother way interesting thoughts.
  • I think another inspiration for The Huntress is probably The Most Dangerous Game.

I definitely think Legion is based off the Strangers combined with Edgy Teens with a tiny bit of Scream mixed in. One of the main reasons I love em so much <3

It seems like no one has picked up on the similarities between the hag and pumpkinhead. I think the devs made her a mixture of the pumkinhead demon and the witch who summons him, named haggis. The hag has the same physical shape with her hair bun thing and elongated hands with claws. Her power is based on pumkinhead in that he would seem to pop up in front of you after a chase like he was teleporting. Even her official lore says that she is embodied by vengeance.

Legion is definitely based on a Netflix movie where a group of kids in leather jackets chase people around a school at night and try to murder them for some site they run.

I can't remember the name of even find it but if my memory is right, they even look like Legion in the movie.

There is a netflix series called slasher where in season 3 2 kids masquarade as the solstice killer. However legion was likely a conjunction of the manson cult, scream based on the method of design and play, and the purge based on the masks. Legion is one of the killers that has an ambiguous homogony for its source material. However if you want a good little known horror film the is a great mocumentary on amazon prime called Behind the mask;rise of leslie vernon. It follows an aspiring serial killer and references jason freddy and myers via leslies mentor who is played by the old farm man from twd season 2 who talks about the trick of being an 80s slasher and the immergence of faking your death to imply aupernatural powers. It also talks about horror tropes and explains why they are used and why its necessary for the killer to hunt his targets in a formulaic fashion as a right of passage.

I think it would be cool to have a killer based on Maniac with Elijah Wood. Mannequins could be used in some way for tge power, mori would be a scalping.

I made a thread about huntress's inspiration. She seems to resemble a lot of features with the urban legend " the bunny man ". They both wear white rabbit masks. Both throw hatchets at unsuspecting people for fun. Both raid villages with an axe and lives in the woods. But I got told from someone that killers are made from multiple inspirations, so huntress's mask might be from what your talking about. Who knows?

Because people make spam/alt accounts and it looks fishy.

Why does it matter to you? Apparently to you it doesn't, so why bother responding after like 5 months?

Wake up and realize this thread is dead. Nobody likes a necro post. Don't waste my time sending me a notification for a comment that clearly isn't worth responding to.
