Just Out of Interest, Is There Anyone Out There Who Actually Likes the Struggle Mechanic?
From all the posts I've seen on the forums recently, and everyone I've talked to outside of the forums, it seems like there isn't anyone at all who likes the struggle mechanic and doesn't want it removed or changed. But as we all know, what seems to be the majority voice quite often is not, which is why I'm curious: is the struggle mechanic really universally hated?
While I'm sure some people feel very passionately about this, I've tried to keep the poll options as neutral as possible. Feel free to elaborate in the comments on why you feel the way you do, especially if you're someone who actually likes or at least doesn't mind the mechanic. I'm very interested to hear your point of view.
(Also, please note I'm talking about struggling on the hook, not wiggling on the killer's shoulder. Don't get confused.)

I don't like the struggle mechanic
God I hate it. I don't feel like I'm struggling for my life I feel like I'm punishing my controller for nothing. One finger slip and I'm dead. It's so annoying. 😅

I don't like the struggle mechanic
I have a friend who lives several states away, so when we play Survivor together she tends to experience more than her share of lag. It doesn't happen that often, but there have been more than a handful of times where she'll be pressing the struggle button and just die anyway thanks to latency.
It's not that big of a deal, but it is annoying and the struggle mechanic itself doesn't provide anything positive to counteract this sentiment.
I mean, what's it supposed to do? Oh joy, I get to mash a button for 30-ish seconds? Oh no, how scary it's the Entity's big spider toe?
There are a few scary things in DBD, but the struggle mechanic is not one of them.
At best it freaks out a brand new player the first time or two they experience it. At worst it annoys them because they're dead before they understand what's even going on. There's simply no reason for struggling as a button mash to exist and plenty of reasons for it to not exist.
I propose Survivors struggle automatically, and hold a button down to give up.

Use macro.

- You clearly didn't read my comment. Pushing buttons rapidly isn't an issue for me or my friend.
- I'm pretty sure using macros is a bannable offense. Or at least it was at one point in time.
- I play on PS4.
- This doesn't do anything to resolve the issue of "Why does the struggle mechanic exist as a button mash anyway?", it's just a workaround. (Of which there are other, less dubious methods - like rebinding the struggle button to your mouse wheel or your joystick)

I don't hate the mechanic as you don't need to press the button very fast BUT latency can kill you even while you are pressing the button.
I honestly think it should be changed as a QOL for controllers/keyboards and especially for those who cannot (or have limited ability) to spam the button.

I hate it with a burning passion. Nothing in particular about it that makes me hate it, it's just annoying and pointless and it's just super dumb and annoying. On the bright side if a game isn't going so hot I can just die by not doing it. I wish they'd either make it a button hold or automatic. And they should do the same for wiggling while they're at it

Smashing a button..? Yeah, always hated that. In every single game that ever existed.
Wish we could disable that somehow.

Always thought "what about the people with arthritis?".
My hands personally don't hurt from MASHING the controller but it's so annoying to have to do.
I wish I can just ?HOLD DOWN? the A button instead.
I actually got so annoyed one day at having to do that I decided to just DC everytime strictly to avoid being on struggle.
I only did that for a day then decided to just do this
A... A... A... A... A...
and not
A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.A.

I don't love the struggle but I like the tension and fear it can create and that the game needs.

I don't really like the struggle mechanic because it makes my thumb hurt sometimes, but I understand why it's in the game and it makes sense why it's in the game.

I'd rather have skill check instead.

I dislike it because of latency issues that can cause you to die even when you are rapidly pressing the button.

struggle mechanics is good, but the hooks are so close together now, it doesnt matter if you struggle or not.

I don't dislike it. I don't like it either, but I think it would be wierd having my Jake struggling for his life while I chill looking at my phone. Having to press the button makes me participate with his struggle.

Needing an extra effort to keep youself alive during the last stage before sacrifice? Fine. The struggle animation looks cool and the idea behind it is flavorful.
Said effort consisting in mashing a button/key? NOT FINE. It is uncomfortable, but not in the tense, immersive way devs intended it to be. Mashing is just annoying and repetitive. All things considered, I voted blue because I want it changed.

As I stated in the OP, I'm talking about struggling on the hook, not wiggling on the killer's shoulder.

Same, struggle and wiggle for me is nothing more than holding a button, effortless.

Struggling on your second hook, not wiggling off a killer's shoulders
