Do you guys think the Archives gives enough Rift Fragements?
Several questions:
1) Did you already finish the Rift? If so, did you finish the Archives (as much as possible) before or after reaching the last tier of the Rift?
2) How many matches, hours, days, etc, does it take for you to complete a single challenge?
3) Do you do these challenges with friends usually or solo?
4) How many matches, hours, days, etc, does it take for you to reach the next tier in the Rift?
or
How many tiers do you go up within a day usually?
I'm not expecting people to really remember this stuff from the top of their heads, and depending on the challenges or level you're on, I'm sure things will vary. I just want some perspective to see if my grind was reasonable or not.

Fact is that it just is WAY too grindy, you really have to be playing ONLY this game and you have to play this game a LOT to get through it all.
Compare this to Warframe's earlier introduced Nightwave system, which was meant to give people something to do, that is INFINITELY more relaxed, every week new challenges and you will be done with the special rewards WAY before its over, and can then spend hte extra points on resources and some cosmetics should you not have them.
Now to answer your questionair:
1) I did finish the rift and I did finish the archives, I finished the rift about 1/3rd of the way into the last archive.
2) Way too long, I just had the time to play this game a lot but man, its pretty rediculous, easily 3 hours a day pretty much every day.
3) Killer obviously solo ;) but Survivor for about 80% with friends.
4) well every tier is pretty much always 10 matches, 10 matches is about 1 days worth of gaming I would say.

I probably should've specified if people finished every challenge rather than Archive levels. I assume you did most of killer challenges and some of survivor? Or did you actually do every challenge possible already?
Dang, this does give perspective, though. I mean I knew it was a grind and I'm REALLY feeling it. I thought maybe it was normal. Even on top of that, you had friends to MAYBE alleviate some of the grind, but even then it's not enough. I don't think I'm gonna do this crap again LOL

1) I finished the rift witg 2 or 3 challenges left
2) depends on the challenge. Some I did in 1 match, some took longer... a few took forever :p
3) solo
4) maybe 1. Sometimes less, a few times 2.(if you only count levelling from exp) I'm not very consistent in how much I play.

It is honestly really bad and just, idk, I almost want to say "rude" or "bad manners" of the devs to ask this of their players, so many just dont have the time or would like to play some other games every now and then as well...
but to answer, yes, I had done every challenge in all the tomes up to that point. so Tome 1 2 and 3 full completed and about 1/3rd of the challenges into Tome 4 before I was Tier 70.

Glad someone agrees. At first I was so into it, but as the challenges got more difficult, the more time it took (which I guess is good so I can gain fragments between challenges). I can't see myself committing to something like this again, but watch me fall for it again LOL. I just don't see this as fair, honestly.
And wow, looks like you did something right. I've done every challenge besides the Doc and Spirit specific ones (including the ones using their perks) and it's frustrating knowing I could easily do some of their challenges, but I can't or don't want to spend the money for killers I'll never really play. I hope people who did the survey asked for some killers to be free when they're featured in the Tomes. Every little thing seems to count. Super unforgiving.

They seriously said an hour a day? LOL. I specifically remember them even saying if you finish the Archives, which I did as much as I could because I don't have Doc or Spirit or their perks either, that you should have the Rift done. I don't think they take into account whether or not some challenges are easier than others. I'm at the point where I have no challenges left to lessen the grind.
4-5 hours a day is awful. Doesn't feel like leisure playing at that point. Btw, do we even get fragments from our player levels? If they already give us fragments from that, then it should increase the higher your level is, because someone who's in early devotion gets fragments really fast while someone in level 90 is getting 1 maybe every 10 matches.
I like your suggestion, though. I really hope they consider it. For such a big grind, some of the cosmetics are bland recolors or the charms are so ugly. It's a shame.

I'm tier 68 right now. I have two regular and two master challenges left to do. On average I was earning 2.9-3 fragments per challenge through gameplay, the optimum would have been 2.8 if I calculated correctly (assuming you get all daily bonuses).
The grind is a bit much for me. For someone with a job and friends, it seems like it assumes DbD is the only game you ever desire to play, And the first two tomes were in the cold season of the year. When summer comes and people want to go out and enjoy the sun or go on vacation (alright, this year that's a bit impacted by that virus, but there'll come other summers) and they put up the same amount of grind then sorry, I'm out.

I finished the rift with a lot of master challenges left open but finished because I wanted to save the extra BP for the new DLC (which of course also kept the rift fragments). I think I reached tier 70 with maybe a third of level 4 finished and like 6-8 master challenges still to collect. And that was about a week ago, so 2 weeks before the rift closes.
Average playtime over the rift was always about 50-60 hours per 2 weeks (as per steam stats) but that also contains idle time and everything else. I play daily, sometimes just the two minimum games to get extra XP for first killer / survivor game, sometimes 4-6 games and on weekend more, to get to the 60 hours :)
Mixed, I think the bigger part is solo.
@Sairek @wichael_wyers The one hour thing was based on pure playtime, and there was a huge thread about calculating all the stuff which turned out to be correct. The thing is, you get capped XP per match which is at 10 minutes = 600 XP. And that means, their "1 hour per day" is like 6 matches with exactly 10 minutes per game. And that is not containing queue times and spending bloodpoints / equipping builds etc. 2 hours is actually more realistic and seriously enough to get the rift done in time. Or simpler: 6 games per day (or taking new ruin into account, probably 7 games per day). Only requirement: you need to play at least one survivor and one killer game with these 6 games to get the bonus XP each day, and you need to finish all challenges within that 6 games per day. While level 1 and 2 is definitely possible with these restrictions, level 3 and 4 can be tough. Basically with around 20 challenges and 3 weeks of time, you need to finish one challenge per day within 6 games. Mostly you can do 2 challenges, but 12 gens simply needs at least 3 games and 5 golden unbroken emblems (or 5 escapes) needs at least five games, more likely 7-8. These challenges are a bit hard to deal with. Also 4 unhooks in one game is quite hard as there are only 6 unhooks possible for a single survivor. You need to talk in chat to make sure unhooking is your part. But for level 3 and 4 there are also at least 4-5 challenges that are almost assured to be done within one game, and I think, ignoring the fact that you need DLCs for some challenges (although they put the perks on the shrine and all characters were available for shards) it is possible to get the rift in time. On average, it is simply 1 rift per day, meaning 10 fragments within 6 games + the one or two challenges you finish. 6 games with daily bonus XP give you about 3600 XP which is 4,5 fragments. So one master challenge or 2 normal challenges a day is enough, and dont forget the free rift after each epilogue.
And as additional note: The archives are available all the time, also after the rift closes. The BP and fluff is not lost. Challenges can be done at every time. It is just about the rift, that gives you a bunch of cosmetics, and this also doesn't force you to buy the premium pass. I think it is fair to say, people that play this game so much get a bit more reward from the rift, in giving back auric cells and unlocking the whole rift. You also have the possibility to purchase the premium pass on last day, when you know what you will get, how many auric cells are restored and how much content you get for your money. And I think it would be unfair to design the rift around people who log in once or twice a week, letting the commited players finish a complete level in like half a week, and then waiting 2 and a half weeks for the next level to unlock.

But that's exactly what I said. Casual players SHOULD not be able to finish the rift, because it is just about cosmetics and commited players should be rewarded for their playtime. And I would say I'm not on the top list of playtime, while having finished the rift 2 weeks earlier without even having all challenges collected.
When they said, they designed it around one hour daily playtime, they also said that their overall player average is at 1 hour per day. I'm not sure but would guess this is not a gauss distribution, more like there are fewer players above that average and more players being casual below (also regarding that the top steam achievement is held by <50% of all players).
My above 50-60 hours (including idle time) compared to the expected average of 28 hours is like double the time. Last tome I calculated down how early I finished and how much XP fragments (meaning gametime) I could have saved by relying on the challenges instead. And like this tome, it pretty much fits the 2 hours per day example that I described. Sure this is just me as an example, but I am playing above average with the result that I don't need all challenges to finish the rift. And rough calculation shows that 2 hours per day is sufficient in my case.
I don't know what you define as hardcore player and who with 15+ hours a week struggles to finish the rift. @ZoneDymo said he was at 3 hours per day, which is 50% over minimum and he also has finished the rift at least one week before deadline with most of level 4 being still open. If you define the average as hardcore already, then of course you can call it "HC players struggle" because the average is what it is designed around to reach tier 70 just in time.

You've made a fair point about the survivor/killer XP bonus. I totally forgot that exists. It's like when you played survivor or killer for the first time of the day, right? When you put it in this perspective it makes sense and I do think it does take me about 6-10 games to get a challenge. It really depends. We'll see how it all goes. I made sure not to pay this Rift until the very end where I get my Auric Cells back, too. Surprised how far I got. I do agree that the grind shouldn't be so easy, but regardless I don't think it should be this bad. I played DBD a lot before the Rift, but never like this where I spend as much time as I would for maybe a shift at work or going to school. I don't mind doing that MAYBE 3-4 times a week, but it felt like I had to login everyday. Maybe in hindsight that's how I feel. I should've kept a log LOL. It might also be that I didn't aim to finish challenges faster or do the survivor/killer first match of the day thing. Not sure.

That's exactly how I feel. I wonder if the devs will talk about this. They did the Rift so much better this time around by offering more challenges, because there was a lot of downtime in the first Level of Tome I after you finished them (in my experience, I guess). I just hope they offer more challenges other than killer specific/perk specific ones. I don't care if I don't get them all done on time, as long as they're available to me near the end of the Rift to lessen this grind. If I genuinely had to play everyday but for an actual hour or two, I wouldn't mind, but not the hours like you said you had to do.

I just made a post about this aswell. Im currently lvl 51 with 5 challenges left meaning i have completed all the archives challenges WAAAAY before im actually finished with the rift so my answer is ######### NO it doesnt give enough...

JESUS. That's actually really bad. Sorry to hear that man, I hope you can catch up somehow and get the stuff you wanted ;-;

1. I got to lvl 70 before lvl 4 of the tome came out.
2. It normally takes 1 match for me to get a challenge done. I usually get most, or all, of the challenges done on the first day.
3. Some solo and some swf
4. It takes like 2 matches to get to next tier if I am doing challenges. It takes about 15 games without challenges (I think).
1 -
The devs said their goal was that you should hit 70 if you do all the challenges. Tome 1, I was at about 61 after finishing all challenges except 6 Feet Under. Tome 2, I'm currently at 67 after finishing all but one normal, 3 Rift Crystal challenge. So I'd definitely say they did a much better job, plus we didn't have any absolute nonsense challenges this time around like "4 gens with Dark Sense" or "2 unhooks during EGC". I'll take grindy challenges over stupid, game-throwing challenges any day.
1 -
Well, point number one: if you didn't pay anything, you didn't miss that much. No need to complete the rift, challenges are still available. You request free stuff cuz 'you deserve it' (sounds like that). I'm still saying: this is all bonus. It is for free. If you can manage to bring the effort, you get rewarded for it. If it burns you out, then goddamn stop trying. The challenges, which are supposed to be the fun thing, are not set on a deadline. Just the free rewards are.
Second: Not sure what's the difference, but when I was done with the first tome 2 weeks before deadline, I have played something around 240 hours (30 per week). I wasn't struggling, not this nor last tome. I even didn't farm most of the challenges (just a handful summarized from all tomes) and instead just played normal, using legit builds to increase challenge speed without having to throw the game (like the 15 pallets challenge o.O)
So I guess "the grind" is simply personal performance or luck. I read enough posts about people that simply struggled with some explicit challenges, searching for help in the forum. So if you don't know how to optimize or don't have the perks unlocked, you might have a hard time on some challenges. But I expected that to be mainly an issue for those players that by design of the rift weren't even meant to finish it at all.

1. Have a few challenges left but I'm tier 70.
2. If it could be done in one match Id usually do it in one match.
3. Solo.
4. Usually 2-3 matches unless I've got a hard quest.

Yes, they definitely seemed to have made challenges from the Archives somewhat align better this time around with the Rift AND the challenges are much more reasonable. It's great. Honestly, the challenges themselves are kinda fun to change your build.
