I did a not great thing as Hillbilly
Before all go off I didn't face camp, but I didn't let the others lead me off while they got free unhooks, I hooked one in the basement and was just sticking around for a daily ritual for blood points to level up my main, legion. And I managed to down one that was trying to unhook the other and just stuck around and let two get hooked by the time the others escaped. This was my first time EVER playing him and trust me I had only gotten a couple hooks before all generators were completed, this wasn't a great game on my part.

So, you proxy camped the basement. Congrats. We'll get that out in the evening issue of 'Who Gives a S*it Weekly Edition'.

With Hillbilly you could’ve just chainsawed back anyways. Depending on situations I’d rather allow an unhook to happen because you get a lot more blood points then one-hooking a player. Survivors are less bickery when you let them, too.

This.
Billy's best asset is his mobility and map pressure, he's great at rocketing back to the hook and finding the unhook and downing them, keeping the cycle going.
You really don't need to camp with him, proxy or otherwise, unless it's an endgame situation and you really don't have an incentive to leave.

I don't understand, what is the bad thing here? You can play however you want. There is no "code of conduct" for killers like some survivors think.

I like allowing unhooks to happen too. Though I had a game recently where ALL THREE survivors rushed for the basement. I was coming out of the basement when I ran into them. They did eventually get the unhook, but I don't think the survivors were very happy because they killed themselves on their second hook each. If I see THREE survivors and have one hooked, I'm not going to go to a random generator and be like "Gee, where are the survivors at?"

It was endgame and the timer was about halfway over, plus I could not figure out how to use the chainsaw for the life of me

Endgame is different as securing kills is all you can really do at that point.
As far as the chainsaw goes, it takes some getting used to, but generally.
Hold your secondary fire (usually M2) to charge the chainsaw, once the chainsaw reaches full charge it will activate and you will begin to chainsaw sprint. Releasing M2 will stop the chainsaw sprint and there will be a brief recharge period until you can start charging again. There is often a "jump" when the chainsaw sprint begins so be careful to not be in the process of turning unless you are planning to do a 90 degree turn when it activates.
The best technique to learn for new Billy players is what's known as "back revving". While chasing a survivor you charge your chainsaw but you don't fully charge it while the survivor is trying to juke, you wait a second for them to commit to a direction and then finish the charge and down them.
The charging time, cooldown, "jump" and speed of the chainsaw sprint as well as control can all be manipulated through addons.
If you wanna see some crazy examples of what Billy is capable of I would check this video out, it's a little dated but still relevant.

You’d be dumb to ignore them then. I do turn a blind eye if I have two or three slugged/hooked. In that scenario I’ve already shown I have the game under control and want it to continue so everyone gets more blood points.
Its like you’re managing the flow of the game.
Thing is original Ruin allowed me to do that more. Now-a-days I’m less inclined when two gens are remaining.
