Totem Placements

So my opinion is that the totem placements for some maps should change. It is very infuriating as a killer when you decide to run a perk that involves a hex totem, and it is immediately taken out before the first gen is done due to its obvious position.

A prime example of this is Crotus Prenn Asylum's realm. There are a couple of totems that are just sitting out in the middle of the field with absolutely no coverage that any survivor can see. There is another realm I can't think of currently but the Asylum definitely has the worst totem placement.

Now I'm not saying make them impossible to find. A recent good example of placement is Lery's Memorial Institute. It is hidden just enough that you have to legitimately stop and look, or face the right way. But not hard enough to where you can't find it at all because it's in this one location no one would ever imagine. This would entice people to utilize the perks "Detective's Hunch" more (because it is a very good perk IMO) and "Small Game". I'd rather have my totems taken out that way every match than seeing the typical survivor running the typical Meta perks spot my totem "a mile away" because of its horrible placement.

*Edit: Meant to say entice, not insight.

Do you mean to say that literally right next to a gen or hook completely in the open is dumb placement

If it's completely in the open, yes. I've worked on gens before where I never even noticed there was a totem cleverly hidden in a nook next to me until I scoured around.

Yes, I don't use totem hability because totem appear in front of survivors or next to a generator, I believe that it would be better if killer choose the place to put his totem. As tramper with his tramps. In this way it would be a new challenge for survivors.

Sorry to go a bit off topic, but I have a theory Haunted Grounds is usually & purposely placed out in the open/plain view - especially if it's the only hex used. Does anyone agree?

I feel like half of the totems are in good spots, and half are in open spots. But anyway sometimes as a survivors I run past a totem 10 times before seeing it and sometimes I just find it well hidden in a bush in the first minutes of the game so I think some placements should be reworked, but it will always be impossible to make it consistent.

Maybe a perk that blocks totems for the beginning?

As @Pok said, it's at random. I've ran HG a couple of times just to mess with some builds and I had it where either no one even touched, presumably they couldn't find it, or they touched it late game because they finally found it.

I've had it where Haunted Ground was completely hidden. It's random.

hex perks are usually all game changers. I definitely don’t think they need to hide them so well you’ll never see them. That’s not fair to survivors. Just don’t run a hex perk if you don’t like that. The best one is NOED anyways because it requires all 5 to be broken which isn’t always going to happen every game. Huntress lullaby is always intimidating 😂 devour hope and ruin is good too. But it isn’t really fair to hide so well they never find it though.

They have some devious hiding spots in some newer maps. You can tell on the maps they touched up that they have it in mind to conceal them. It's just getting around to actually reworking the maps that is the problem.

Maps need to be bigger and better cover. Not knee high crates and vaults that killers can just walk around faster than you can get through it. Almost defeats the purpose. They also need to fix hit boxes because it’s kinda ridiculous I can get through a vault and to the other side and then get smacked through the vault still. If you’re on the other side of a vault they should have to walk around or go through it just like I took the time to do.

lag puts survivors at a huge frustrating disadvantage. As for killer, if there is in the realm of possibility lag that you’re experiencing trust me, a missed attack or two isn’t gonna kill ya. Lmao.

I agree. Some maps they're just sitting in the open. Survivors should have to go out of there to find them considering if they get broken it's a dead perk slot.

Also, when you're running multiple, it would be nice to know which is which. Sucks when they one you care about is broken first.

I think this would add a lot variety to the killer loadouts we see.
