Just one game mode in almost 4 years?

Not to downplay how much effort I'm sure the devs have put into this game up to this point (which I'm sure is sigificant!) but we are just a few months away from the 4 year anniversary and we still just have one solitary game mode?

It possibly wouldn't be so bad if, in those 4 years, the one mode available had been refined into a great experience for both survivor and killer players, but with the imbalance issues, bugs and glitches, gen rush, camp and tunnel, latency and countless other problems I find it hard to believe this is as far as this game has come.

There was so much potential for this game to become great, to expend its playerbase and become a larger success than what it currently is but the core experience of the game has been stagnant for so long.

Don't get me wrong, the game is still enjoyable in its current form to a certain degree. Enough to keep drawing me back in from time to time. But would it be so much to ask for something new to freshen up the gameplay besides new killers/survivors/perks every 3 months? Is this one solitary game mode all this game will ever be?

    #MDBDGA!

I just got the game a month or so ago so my opinion on it getting stale should be taken with a huge grain of salt but I'm happy with the game. Each match can vary greatly pending my build and my opponents build.

I'd rather they get one mode polished to a super shine rather than kick out a bunch of modes that don't get the love and attention they need to thrive. It's not impossible for a studio to pull that off but it's a lot harder than people think and you risk fracturing your own player pool (and potentially killing your own game) if you can't balance it.

I dont last year but watching monto play it shows what dbd could add like multiple objects and moving to one location to the next

I get where you are coming from and i'm glad you are enjoying the game. The game-play has certainly been refined since its release in 2016. The inclusion of the end game was quite significant. But for having 4 years to work on the game and to still have massive balancing issues, bugs and glitches that are widely acknowledged, and now issues with latency that make dedicated servers arguably worse than P2P, I can't help but think the state of the game shoudl be much better than it is.

It would be good for one of the devs to confirm if there is ever likely to be a new game mode in the future or if this is all the game will ever be.

I've seen many games that people quitted playing because their devs implemented many modes and complicated functions... they just lost the feeling of the "first impression" of the games. So with that I prefer DBD to keep it like this

The problem is this, they have not grown the game population to the point it can support multiple game modes. They are chasing their tale trying to fix everything they break (MoM is a great example!). I have no doubt that the people who are developers for this game are good hard working people. But, the development team as a whole is barely competent enough to keep the game stabilized. They rush things out without looking at how a new power/perk will impact every aspect of the game, or how it might be exploited. Then they ignore it until they can't anymore. Again, MoM is a fantastic example. Even with the new killer, they created the perfect proxy camper with a tiny TR and ranged attack that actually pulls you closer to the killer. WTH are you thinking?! As cool as it sounds, that just lost more people over time.

People get tired of the balance issues, and massive toxicity on both sides and they leave the game. Hard to build your player base when you feed the imbalance and toxicity as a development team.

Taking players out of the queue and into a custom game mode... would mean less people in queue and extend queue times...

Nah, there working too hard on cosmetics. They won't make any $ off of a new mode unless they charge for it.. Oh #########.. I think I just ######### up and gave them an idea... 🤦‍♂️

Can we stop using queue times as an excuse not to innovate the product?

Um...I’m not a genius or nothing but...it’s not like you have to separate the que for each game mode. You ready up and get a 50/50 on the two game modes. If you create something worth playing, people will accept it or get use to it.

what? You think people will DC or kill themselves if they get in a game mode they do not like? Uhhh yeah, kind of like people being in a map they dont like, a killer they don’t like, or an add on they don’t like and already do the same.

Other games don’t always separate everything, they do grab bag modes and we gamers leave it up to fate and celebrate when we get what we’re hoping for and clench our teeth and power through the modes were less excited about~

I would like to see a single player offline version similar to Team Fortress 2's offline mode, or maybe a story driven narrative but you usually just end up with one popular game mode and the rest are dead.

My idea stage 1 survivors spwan on my with killer and have to find gas to power up gens then have to repair the gens to open gate yes just 1 gate when survivors exit the gate a new area is open with a new objective and when i say new area i mean a brand new map that would go with the first one so lets say you exit the farm you go to a lake and have to power a boat to excape the killer i love the constant movement of last year going from place to place have to do new objectives every step of the way and for killers no hooks every kill is a mori but requires more hits to earn and even killers can use environmental kills then give everybody comms for teamwork

No, failing to fix bugs that have been around for months/years and not listening to the community impact queue times. People are leaving the game left and right, but its as if you guys don't care.

They will release a new gamemode when the game starts dying. Always game companies do risky moves when things don't go well. It worked with hearthstone, fortnite, call of duty:MW... So just let this game die and see how quickly they make a new gamemode.

Look at the state of the single game mode they have and ask yourself if you think they could pull of an entirely different game mode that would require more balance.

    The answer might surprise you.

That's fair, but cross play capability should be able to merge the player base together and allow a few game modes without hindering queue times. 😁

While it impacts queue time, the game will be less stale, which draws in more people and keeps people playing

If they did that, people wouldn't have to buy the game and DLC's multiple times. So...

Devs have nothing but excuses all the time. A new mode is needed even if its temporary.

You dont fix bugs, you dont balance the game so at least add a new mode so people can have some fun.

I think adding a couple of mini game modes would really help keep current players around as it would improve the games lasting appeal as well as possibly draw in more players.

One thing I think would be really fun is a Chess mini game which kinda fits the theme of Harry Potter’s Wizards chess where the pieces are Killers and attack each other.

Or even opens up new avenues for new players. Imagine if fortnite never made their battle royale mode.

most people dont want multiple game modes, they just want one single actually balanced game mode where perks and killers are all at least on a similar plane of strength

Obsessed. Get over it already, you are not entitled to DC without a punishment.

    i mean...

you see how hard they struggle to properly balance out this one gamemode, imgine having two of them.

I definitely don’t think they need more modes. It will definitely increase queue times. Even if players come back and new players join, there is going to be an imbalance on which side to play and I already wait 10+ minutes for survivor on PS4 and 10+ minutes for Killer on PC.

A good alternative however is events. I loved the old Hallowed Blight event and the Lunar New Year event where there were additional objectives. Secondary objectives and a different atmosphere and look to the game would probably motivate a lot more people - pustule gens, hanging shrunken heads from trees, leaking chests, bleeding lockers, that sorta thing. I’d love to see more community events too (eg if we get a total number of 50,000 pallets dropped in chases this month then everyone gets a free Feng shirt!) I know it’s difficult to add and balance events at this time but balancing 2 game modes at once is far more difficult.

devs are a disaster, not focusing in what the game needs, only in the money they can make

I've been advocating this for a long time. There is a way to do it where it will positively impact game queue times. Introduce alternate game modes on weekends and rotate them so only one is active at a time. This will increase the active player base wanting to check out the new thing on a regular basis without fragmenting the player base. This is a model that has been successfully done across a number of games. Eventually, you might hit on a game mode that is so popular that it can be made permanent as it will have it's own devoted following.

The killers fill in as the different game modes. Though not enough measures are taken to change up the core gameplay so they're all kinda homogenized.

True, but some such as The Deathslinger and Spirit change your gameplay more so than say The Plague or The Legion.

A solution would be an in-lobby mini game for survivors to play while they wait several minutes for a match to start.

Honestly, as a somewhat newer player, I'd like a tutorial/practice area where I could go in solo to learn the specific maps better. Half the time I get into a chase, I'm never really sure which areas to run to and are considered safe. XD
