Has ANYONE died from the pig trap.

In normal circumstances where the pig doesnt camp the box or tunnel you without downing. Have you actually died from her power. Unless your swf is gen rushing, I've never seen the power actually apply pressure and I've yet to get a kill with it despite now reaching prestige 3 pig. Should the trap be remade to activate based on the next down instead of gens?

I'm sure I have but can't remember. However I did have a teammate die to one earlier this week under normal circumstances. They weren't being tunneled or anything as far as I know. However our other two teammates were dead and I was in the dying state so we weren't in a good situation either way.

Um, the trap isn't based on generators at all, it only goes off if the survivor tries to leave through an exit gate with it on unless I'm mis-remembering something.

The trap isn't supposed to kill the survivors often as much as it's supposed to force a survivor to go deal with boxes for a while so the pig can focus on other survivors.

And yes people die from the power, but I find it comical that you refer to "camping the box" as somehow derogatory. If you realize a survivor needs a certain box to get their trap off you are absolutely, 100% within your rights to pitch a tent and watch that trap turn his jawbone upside down.

As far as tunneling, that would actually be the exact wrong thing to do against the guy with the trap on his head, considering that is one survivor who's priority isn't generators. Why focus him instead of the people who are focused on generators?

People need to stop throwing around the term "pressure" without actually thinking about what it means. The pig's traps aren't "pressure" they are just a way to slow down overall survivor progress by forcing however many survivors have traps on their heads to go deal with boxes instead of repairing generators. Meanwhile the pig uses that extra time to continue to hunt and down survivors who are still doing generators.

Also sorry but prestige means absolutely nothing other than you funneled a whole bunch of BP into a killer.

I had the pig interrupt me while chasing someone else on one box, forcing me to go check another. It killed me and i made sure the piggy got to see me die lmao

I've had a few people die with a RBT on their head. Often when they try to go out the exit gate, or when they work on Gens instead of trying to get it off. I think I've died once from one.

I had two people die to pig traps in one of my survivor matches yesterday. Megheads that did gens and healed instead of trying to get the traps off lol.

Most of the time it'll be a rank 18-20 who's never versed a Pig. Or the last box is in the middle of the Pig's 3-gen patrol path.

That being said though, it is an extremely euphoric feeling, and as good a feeling as winning a full match of R6: Siege comp with a Kapkan trap you forgot you placed earlier.

I have died once to a RBT, but it was because I was being tunneled into the ground. Name didn't help much either.

The trap isn't meant to kill anyone, it's meant to stall the game as long as possible.

I just wish it worked in End Game.

Yeah I was talking about them "going off" as in actually killing someone, not just activating the timer. Confusion in terms my good man.

I think I've only had like 5 people die in 900 hrs. And I've died twice.. One of them was because someone was just crouch spamming at the gate and I was desperately clawing at the hatch.

Yeah i seen a few people die to it. Normally due to wasting time before going to the boxes or the boxes being spread out across a large map, that they just had bad luck and was unable to get to the right one in time.

Once the timer reaches 0 it kills you, you don't have to try to escape for it to go off

  • Kwikwitted
    Kwikwitted Member Posts: 641

Yes. I know. That wasn't the point of confusion.

    The OP said this:

"Should the trap be remade to activate based on the next down instead of gens?"

Which I took to mean he wanted the trap to literally detonate on the next down or something, instead of just activating the timer.

I had people die on my traps while I played Pig, but that almost never happens. Last time it did I was using addon to add more jigboxes and survivors were simply doing gens while the person was terrorized trying to find the right box. I think its almost impossible for that to happen against a good team or if you dont keep harassing the person in normal circumstances.

I died once because I waited too long to try to remove it, and once because I was curious what would happen if you tried to leave with a trap on my head. Spoiler alert: Your head go boom.

So, yes, but also not often enough for it to be a huge deal. But the fact that you absolutely have to go around to remove it to actually escape the trial is kind of a big deal.

Personally, I haven't. because in times when the trap would actually kill me, the killer would chase me, and I would get sacrificed.

it happens... just play pig enough and you'll see "game over" pop on the side of the screen and you'll go "...OH...ok"

    Heartbound Member Posts: 3,255

If I don't get the trap off at the first box I accept my death. You don't have time to stealth to all the boxes (especially if they have a tampered timer) and that usually gets me into another chase. Can I keep the pig busy enough for gens to pop? Yes. Can I survive after a trap is placed on me? Very rarely.

Alternatively the team will loop the killer around the boxes so I can't get to it, but if I run in I die anyway so whatever. I'm really not a fan of RNG. If another player kills me, fine. If I get head popped (which I do) then I'm just going to work on a gen until I die. Get me out of that game.

  • SunderMun
    SunderMun Member Posts: 2,789

Yes. By nature of being RNG, it has happened. With and without the add-ons that make it impossible to get the trap off in time if it's active before you've attempted at one of the boxes.

Yes. But Pig Traps' main function is not to kill, but to delay. The threat of death is the motivator to go look for keys, which means not working on gens.

i have it always the last box i checked sometime i have no time left.

Yes, it has. A few times. Sometimes it w as wanted and sometimes not. But the Pig Traps are meant to delay the game rather than to serve to just kill, but obviously I have died to them

  • Mikeasaurus
    Mikeasaurus Member Posts: 2,327

I've died a couple of times to it, usually because it's the final box to check and I know the time I have left isn't enough. Pig's Traps are the one thing that actually make me sweat like crazy when that timer gets low!

  • OldHunterLight
    OldHunterLight Member Posts: 3,001

Yup, plenty of times before the map changes, it's always the last box for me.

It should've been a Mori. In most situations, the rbt isn't a problem. It quickened each gen after its been placed. Except the last gen. Its inactive after all gens are done post placing and you can escape with a souvenir.

If before the gates are open and still on, running to the gates activates death

I've died once or twice to a Pig bear trap. Probably had 5 or 6 people die from my traps. My kill (not sacrifice) was from a Pig bear trap.

I haven’t. It’s almost always the fourth box that lets me remove it though. Come close several times.

Yeah but the problem is the threat isnt great enough. Ive seen survivirs working gens with activated traps on and they still get them off.

I recommend 2 things). Reduce the amount of rng involved. Make it so the key is always in the 3rd or 4th box (3,4,5 or 6 depending on add ons).

Remove their ability to escape through hatch with an activated trap on.

This would light more of a fire under their ass to get it off and add a little more consistancy to her power.

    Lol, necrobuuuuuump.

I've certainly gotten my share of kills with RBTs. My two favorite instances were a game where I killed three people with RBTs in one game and a game where I killed someone who was never hooked with the RBT (I believe I ate a pallet before I could hook them, their Trap ended up being in the last box, and rather than actually get it off, they opted to try and heal first, which gave me enough time to reach them and push them away).

If I don't get the trap off at the first box I accept my death.

god...I wish more survivors were like you... 4ks every game as pig... XD

but seriously...you're giving up way too fast

Maybe. Last game was today on Haddonfield. I checked two boxes and I could see the auras of my teammates looping the pig around the other two (thanks for fixing auras btw) So I knew I couldn't get close. I tried anyway because blinky red timer and pig spotted and downed me. If I got off the hook there was no time to finish 1 box search so I let go. Hopefully my team understood. I have to go now, my people need me.

(I should point out I play in high ranked games where gens fly. I have zero seconds of pre-activation timer to go off on. As soon as I get up/get unhooked it's timer time.)

It's always been box + aura, though in my opinion it should be aura only.

I die alot from them because I'm to lazy to go search boxes especially on Midwhich 🤣 so I just do what I can gens orhook saves until my time is up. I also get piggys attention to chase someone who is already going to die so she waste time.

I’ve died a few times to RBTs due to just bad luck. Usually it’s on huge maps, 2-3 gens will pop, and I have to run to each corner of the map. This happened a couple of days ago to me. I was hooked right next to a RBT. There were 4 on the map. I didn’t have enough time despite running to each one. Died before I got to the 4th box

other times I can’t get to the box due to the pig gen patrolling over and over in the area with the last box I need to search. So options become due to getting hooked or die to the RBT

I did recently, but it is very rare. I had to go for a hook save because I was the only one I could due to my other teammate being chased by the killer, which wasted alot of my time, and the box I needed was the last one I checked, I died halfway through the progress bar for removal.
