People who disconnect on first down

I see far too often people disconnecting from the game when they get downed by the killer. They are often the first one to be found when the match start, and also the first one to go down. No matter how fair the killer was in his chase, these people just feel the need to quit immediately for some weird reason. It's like they play this game with the expectation that they need to be untouchable or else it's not worth playing.

I just want to know if there is a certain logic why they do it, something that I might not have considered. If you are one of those DCers, please enlighten me why you feel a need to leave the game the second you get downed early into the game when unprovoked to do so.

I don't do that, but when I message people 9 times out of 10 they say they have been having a ######### day.

DC penalties have improved things but need to be increased, the survivors who do this affect 4 other people who just want to play the game.

Had a toxic survivor who unhooked me in front of pig. Spectated and tried to use their DS as they crawled to gate, pig waited and picked them up after DC had finished... survivor DC!

Penalties should affect players which it doesn't when it is bedtime

I do think that the current penalty for DC is way too mild. They hardly have decreased the amount of people who dc games, but then again, if you go increasing the penalty, it sucks for those who get kicked out of a game for technical problems. I have had it happen to me in the past and I am glad I just had to wait 5 minutes beacuse of it.

But yeah, if there ever was a good reason to dc, it's when your teammates come unhook you without borrowed time right in front of a killer and the killer just downs you and puts you back to the hook.

Well, your example was at endgame with open gates. That doesn't really screw your team when you DC in that situation.

That is also not really a good reason to DC. Because you again screw the team for the mistake of a single person, leaving the other 2 with that BTless donkey. GJ

Story was my last survivor DC, basically they didn't care about their points but rage quit when outplayed.

When the DC bans first came in everyone played as usual then realised they couldn't DC as usual. Then people have worked out how they are penalised and will DC but less frequently. Penalties should be adjusted now the introduction to bans have been running successfully.

I don't DC but i motion for a killer to hook me. I just AFK after that. I'm having a ######### day at that point and that was the straw that broke the camel's back and I'm ready to go.

I don't do that often, but if I ever do it's because the connection I have is atrocious. Even with some bad lag I'll try to play it out but if it is so bad that the killer is running into a wall then I get hit or I'm teleported somewhere I wasn't then I will DC.

Sometimes my game crashes when the killer interacts with me, looking like a rage quit, when the truth is that the game is broken. Happened to me 4 times, the last one was a Oni, he downed me with his power, and when he was going to pick me up, he froze, and 10 seconds after the game disconnected.

Don't just think 100% of the players just rage quit on you.

If I want to get out of the game, I just kill myself on the hook.

Well, either people DC when they face unfun stuff (like Iri Head Huntress) or they DC because they are found first, either because they are simply salty or have a bad day. And for that I think a DC Penalty is quite good, because even if it is only 5 minutes, when you DC because you get frustrated because of the game, you can think about closing it for the day or can do something else during those 5 minutes to get your head clear.

However, I would not increase the penalty, because technical issues are a thing. I was quite lucky so far, but recently I got kicked two days in a row - one time I lost connection to the Host (without losing connection to the Internet), the other time I got kicked by EAC mid-game. Also I had one Killer who clearly lost connection, because it was a Deathslinger and he got kicked while reloading, so I highly doubt it was intentional.

And as Killer, I also faced Survivors who did not DC manually, but got a crash. Not starting to talk about Bugs which can happen (one where the Survivor is stuck on the Hook so that either the Killer or the Survivor have to DC).

So while DC-Penalties are helping a little bit (sadly Survivors can still suicide on first hook and Killers can still go afk in a Corner), increasing the penalty would most likely be bad for the wrong people.

If i get hit from 10 ft away by a killer playing from mcdonalds, im DCing and playing something else

at that point, its their dogshit servers that ruined the game, not me, i'd just suicide anyway

edit; She M1'd me btw, got hit by a pallet, dropped me 3 seconds later, then lost connection

    nice

Sure , increase the penalty , but only after all the game breaking bugs are fixed. Don't really see why I should get punished for having to DC (as a killer) when I get the endgame not ending the game bug which I get way too often.

And there are people who get randomly get DC'd for no reason apparently.

Until then it's fine the way it is.

So basically it's the connection? But I do have a flawless connection, I play fair (most of the time when not provoked or not doing a challenge), and still I find people who like to DC for no good reason...

I'd say it's probably because they're having a bad session. Maybe they've been picked on a lot, been the obsession a lot, tunneled, etc. Add some of these things up and it can create a frustrating experience.
