Would someone be bothered to remove struggle?
Like "smash your spacebar from your notbook till it brokes and you have to pay for another one, or smash your x button it will be fun"
This is on game to make it more realistic like the player needs to feel that he is fighting for his life, but really someone that plays dbd for hundreds of hours think its boring cause that by itself doesnt add to the experience.
Everyone just make a makro to press f for them or put on the mouse weel cause give less work, in my opinion i dont like this mechanic and i dont want some health issue in my finger joints for a unecessary thing as struggling, make it automatic no one will be bothered.
I am not saying to remove 2 hook phase just let the char struggle by itself, the game should be fun not exaustive. And tbh everyone died at least once for some kind of struggle bug even smashing the button.

Yeah this need to be changed.
Did the same post recently but no response from devs

Just bind it to mousewheel and grind those sweet BPs

TBH: I feel like phase 2 struggle imputs being required could be removed entirely.
or
Just make so you can hold down the space bar(default PC binding) so it actually matches the animation where you aren't constantly trying to smash the entity but hold it back.

Bro theres is not even a perk for struggle phase is pretty much useless. Perks like the one from adam could change struggle to another 1 hook phase to give the surv a chance to get out hook again.
But as i said, nothing right now use this mechanic to add the gameplay struggle is just there

Console does not have this possibility
11 -
If u dont want to struggle, try to kobe and suicide if u dont get it. Not sure what u try to achieve.
1 -
Actually, Camaraderie gives you extra time in struggle phase just to mash that spacebar some more!
3 -
Less tedious gameplay.

No need to give reasons why removing it would be beneficial, this feature has no reason to exist to begin with

Wait you kidding i didnt even knew this perk existed, so sheet.
Devs remove struggle next ptb thank you.

I was missing some examples but this guy, this guy knows that struggle is bad

I suck. When I put struggle to my mouse wheel. I just died x'D - i'm just going to keep tapping the 'f' key.
1 -
Dont know how often this was suggested now. And never ever did anything happen. Devs dont care for our hardware.
4 -
Get a mouse that lets you undock the mouse wheel and let that baby spin. Basically a legal macro lol

My guess - first person to break their space bar wins a million Auric Cells. 😎

I got some men of culture here, behaviour pls remove

We have asked for years to get this removed. It is pointless and i refuse to do their bidding.

I wanted it removed the second I had to do it. It's been over 3 years now. Thanks bhvr.

Hello boys, the names vanG.
Lets talk about taking out phase two!
Instead of the bar going through different phases, we should totally decrease the bar just like it would during the struggle. The bar will decrease like normal but whenever we get unhooked it goes faster or takes back the same as struggling out.
Anyways that is a lady's 2 cents.

Mashing a button is very unreliable because you're entering multiple inputs per second, which means if you lag, you will miss many inputs you're supposed to do — you're dead.
I think skill checks would be better because they require significantly less inputs and don't wear down your keyboard.
This would be simple to implement, and would make room for more perks to enter the game: We can add cool animations too!
- Missing would cause you to lose a portion of your struggle meter.
- Goods will have no benefit, besides keeping you alive.
- Greats will pause the struggle timer for 3 seconds.
You will receive a skill check every 10 seconds, which in total is 6 skill checks during your entire struggle state. If you hit all greats, you will be on the hook for 84 seconds but here's something nasty with greats, Camaraderie will increase your struggle to 128 seconds.
Can be great for camping to be honest. 😁

So, I am pretty sure the dev's actually said they were going to remove this, but they haven't gotten around to it yet? (clearly). I'm not sure if they are trying to figure out how (AKA implementing a button to hold down to choose to let go type thing) or maybe ran into some bugs.. I'm not too sure.
It would be nice to get an update on the status of this though. This would be a great change to finally see implemented.

I'm all for removing the button mashing.
3 -
One of the reason why i play killers more
3 -
I have died lots of times on PS4 because of the struggle mechanic. If my thumb comes down wrong on the 'X' button wrong, it won't count and I die. I broke my right thumb once, so it's a painful way to get points and I'm prone to missing a push because of it -- I do it, of course, but I wish there was a better way

What about console players?
1 -
okay now we have a good mechanic to put on struggle, or the devs can remove it.
button mashing isnt good is boring sometimes unfair and unhealty.
0 -
It's such an annoying mechanic. Nobody likes it. Listen to your playerbase. This thread comes up once every month or so.
6 -
and you will see it more cause thats a thing that bother us all

The dev they hired to remove the "press spacebar to struggle" feature pressed the wrong key and died. His death booted his teammates out of the office and they had to find another job.
Seriously, get rid of the spacebar smashing during the struggle phase. This nonsense kills me at least once per week.
2 -
It should be converted to skill checks instead!
3 -
Remove the mashing. Just do it devs, please. It's stupid.
In its place, make a prompt that lets you give up on hook if you hold it down long enough, kind of like attempting to escape off the hook in the 1st phase but it's for the 2nd phase instead.
The problem = solved. It's literally that simple.
2 -
plz just remove this stupid struggle...
playing dbd sinc 2017 .. never bothered to smash the spacebar .. just to annoying.
1 -
It'd also make it harder to suicide, so teammates will have more time to get you off the hook and maybe a couple folks out there will actually continue to play the game when they would've otherwise given up immediately. You could still intentionally miss skillchecks, but I think that's better than just insta-dying after 2 seconds.
0 -
Just make the player hold down a button rather than tapping. So you can't just afk on the hook, but you don't have to spend a minute straight making your arm tired. And if you're salty you can still suicide. Plus you don't get as many accidental deaths because your finger wandered off the button for a moment too long.
1 -
They said in a Q&A that they wanted some interaction from the player.
My suggestion is to make 2phrase just like Pyramid Head cage's, you will need to hit the skill check, if you miss, it will shorten your timer. This way players can't also suicide on hooks.
4 -
I'm all for the skill check idea! Because of the struggle phase and wiggling, I am now the proud (/s) owner of 5 Xbox controllers with broken thumbsticks and 'A' buttons. Changed struggle to 'LT' and it's helped out a bit, but button mashing events in any game just destroy controllers.
1 -
I mean there’s camaraderie....
2 -
That's such a ######### argument. I feel stuggle adds nothing to the game. It should be like second stage in Pyramid Head's box where you have to hit skill checks or even something like holding the button.
I've died many times when I was mashing like a madman. Even the torture sequences in the Metal Gear series where you're mashing a million times a minute gives you more leeway. (MGS2 solidus chokehold on euro extreme difficulty. Although I usually use a spoon rubbed across the controller for that. MGS1 doesn't even let you use autofire.)
2 -
as long I can still instand kill myself go ahead. other than that, no

Right now struggle is really annoying and the perks that play with it really don't do much to change the game. Two suggestions I heard that I like are to either, simply require holding a struggle button, or to make it skillcheck based, with some perks affecting the skill or presentation of these checks.
1 -
The playerbase wants to get rid of it. The devs thinks it keeps things engaging. Thus, it won't be removed.

Same for wiggle would be the top!

I know someone already said this but I think skillchecks would be a better choice. You still get that fight for your life feeling like the old struggle and feel like your making a difference. Also you could make a tremendously difficult skill check that'd allow you to unhook yourself. See so many more opportunities with this.

Devs like to buy a new keyboard every month. We need to decrease support. :^)
1 -
The way cages manage struggle phase is actually super fun and engaging imo, and I would love it if hooks worked this way too.

Just make it skill checks, I hate it when my thumb cramps up for a second and it looks like I rage quit
