Demogorgon addon rework/changes

I know the first question on a lot of people's minds will be "Why Rework the Demogorgon?", and that's a fair question to make. This rework is more along the lines of the most recent Doctor addon changes rather than something like the Nightmare rework. The biggest things that are being changed are mostly just the addons, as the most useful addons to the Demogorgon are common, and that just doesn't sit right with me. They have been changed to provide benefits to both the portals, and the Shred attack.

Base Changes

The Demogorgon will be able to see the auras of injured survivors when traversing the Upside Down. This essentially bakes the current effect of the Leprose Lichen into the Demogorgon’s base kit, allowing for some occasional intel and to make the creature closer to how it is in the show.

While affected by the Undetectable status effect, the Demogorgon’s passive sound effects are reduced to 8 meters. This is down from the otherwise constant 16 meters. This will allow the Undetectable status effect to have some actual stealth factor when playing as the Demogorgon.

The Demogorgon’s movement speed while charging Of The Abyss has been increased to 100% or 4 m/s. Up from 92% or 3.7 m/s. The movement speed addons have been changed accordingly.

Base Portal Opening time reduced to 0.5 seconds. Down from 1 second. With the Rat Tail now providing a different benefit, this is to help make placing portals generally less sluggish.

The Demogorgon is able to close active portals in order to recycle them and place them somewhere else. Base Portal Closing time is 1 second.

Base Undetectable duration after leaving a portal increased to 5 seconds. Up from 2 seconds.

Everything else about the Demogorgon at base such as the survivor's portal sealing time, traversal time through the upside down, portal traversal cooldown, etc, is all unchanged.

To make things a bit more clear and likely how they would sound in game, here is an example of how I think the power would be rewritten.

OF THE ABYSS:

Press and hold the Power button to fully charge and activate Of the Abyss. All Survivors within a close proximity to an activated Portal will be indicated by Killer Instinct.

SPECIAL ATTACK: Shred

Press the Attack button while charging or holding Of the Abyss to dive forwards and unleash a vicious slash. Shred is able to break pallets, and breakable walls.

SPECIAL ABILITY: Portals

Press the Active Ability button to place an inactive Portal on the ground in front of you. Inactive Portals are invisible to Survivors and cannot be sealed.

Traversing the Upside Down

When standing on a placed Portal with a different Portal highlighted, press and hold the Active Ability button to travel through the Upside Down to arrive at the targeted Portal. While traveling through the Upside Down, the auras of all injured survivors will be revealed to you, and the Demogorgon will gain the Undetectable status effect. This effect will persist for a short duration after emerging from your targeted Portal.

Activated Portals

Portals become 'activated' when they are first traversed to or from. Only active Portals may be sealed by Survivors. Survivors who are in contact with a portal will suffer from the Oblivious status effect for the duration. Pressing and holding the interaction button while on an active portal will let the portal be closed by the Demogorgon.

(Ultra Rare)

Red Moss- Tremendously increases the duration of the Undetectable status effect after emerging from a portal. (+9 sec) Tremendously decreases the power recovery speed of traversing the Upside Down. (+10 sec)

Leprose Lichen- Charging Of The Abyss while standing on top of an active portal will reveal the aura of all injured survivors.

Perks

And to round all this off, a few changes to the Demogorgon's perks to make them more viable and fun as well.

Surge- Putting a survivor into the dying state, or grabbing a survivor will cause all generators within 32 meters of you to explode and start regressing. This explosion will apply an instant regression of 8/9/10%. This effect will only apply to generators that are not already regressing.

Mind Breaker- While a survivor is repairing a generator they suffer from the exhausted status effect. This effect persists for 13/14/15 seconds after the survivor stops repairing. Mind Breaker will pause any exhausted timer that is already active on a survivor.

Cruel Limits- Each time a generator is completed, all window and vault locations will be blocked by the entity for 30 seconds. Once the final generator is completed, all vault locations will be blocked for 35/40/45 seconds.

I hope that had fun reading through these ideas, and please never be afraid to share any feedback or ask any questions! I'll always try to answer as many people as I can. Good luck to everyone in the fog.

These changes feel like they do better justice to the killer and make him a more viable and fun killer. Leprose Lichen seems lackluster though, what if it was something more like you can see the auras of injured survivors within an 8m range of your portals. Or maybe something strange like your portals become active when an injured survivor comes within 8m or something. Something unique and interesting.

The feedback is appreciated! As for the Leprose Lichen, it's a very tricky addon to try and balance out. Aura reading on survivors who are already vulnerable is very strong in and of itself, so I wanted that idea of "the Demogorgon can sense a drop of blood through dimensions" as extreme as it could in this game. The idea of having your aura revealed just because you're injured and close to a portal was a bit much to me, so I think this was a decent enough compromise when it comes to the effort needed vs the reward you gain. It's still a very powerful effect, having mapwide knowledge of all injured survivor's locations, but it comes at the need to be charging of the Abyss on an active portal. A need that isn't too unreasonable considering it's a common thing for a Demogorgon player to do so they know what portals to protect. That was my logic behind it anyway.

i like the changes you have suggested but the leprose lichen seems unnecessary as you can just use a portal to see injured survivors anyway and would most likely force an anti heal build to get the most out of it

i would like to have an open discussion on possible changes for the addon so here is my idea

    leprose lichen:

allows the demogorgon to teleport to any portal from any location by opening a temporary portal. using an already placed portal to teleport will moderately increase demogorgons power recovery speed

slightly lowers the amount of portals available (-1)

allowing demo to teleport from any location would increase his map control exponentially almost to the same degree as freddy but demo would still have to place the exits but this will also mean he can see injured survivors from anywhere on the map by just teleporting so it will have a similar effect to the one you suggested but will have a more active effect making it feel like a very rare addon like plagues black incense or huntresses iridescent head except not broke AF

It may seem unnecessary at first, but there's a key difference between being able to see injured auras when traversing through the upside down, and seeing injured auras at any time. Going through the upside down not only alerts every survivor of what's happening, but you can't actually move your camera and look around while doing so. And without other addons, there is a 14 second cooldown at minimum of this happening, so survivors would also have a bit of breathing room and safety if they're injured. The idea behind this version of the Leprose Lichen may seem redundant, but in practice I think it could be on the level of Oni's Bloody Glove or Plague's Black Incense in terms of information gathering. Being able to see injured survivor auras at any time, from any place, is a very powerful tool. And only the most observant survivors will be able to tell that you have it. While I do actually like the idea behind your version, I think that I'll stick with mine. But of course, the feedback is appreciated.
