The second iteration of 2v8 is now LIVE - find out more information here: https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/kb/articles/480-2v8-developer-update

How can players get more concise information?

So I've just had a match where I found a purple key & do you think I know what it does or how to use it?

Nup.

Maybe have a look at more concise instructions of what various items do instead of leaving us in the dark.

That's actually a truth. Sadly the only fastest way to learn about items is to check dbd wiki. But yeah that type of info should be added in the game.

It tells you what they do in the loadout screen.

That's assuming you have it in the 1st place. I picked it out of a chest.

Then look at it when you get it, you don't need to be handheld the entire time. Pointless feature.

Can we just be given raw numbers and stop withholding information from players?

Considerably, Moderately etc are all meaningless especially when you realize some things, like Spine Chill DO give you the actual % whereas many addons don’t say anything useful.

its only purpose is to prevent players from knowing what is best, there’s nothing else I can think of than to limit player agency

You can check what all items and addons do in "KIll your friends"

From devs perspective I think it's a good idea to don't show the exact numbers. People would abuse certain items more, and stop using other ones.

When numbers come in, an optimal result can be calculated. Devs know this, so they hide the numbers and add a description with the idea that you should be using the item/addon for.

Part of the horror aura of the game comes from the lack of information too. A newcomer in the fog is going to have a hard time until he figures out how all things work.

The DBD Wiki shows the exact numbers for everything including the amounts for slightly, moderately etc

The game could do with a better tutorial and a build in wiki, as is, the actual wiki is where you have to go a lot of the time.

It's a fact that the wiki has wrong or outdated information, I don't know if it is updated by developers from time to time. There are things that are wrong like gate keeper emblem information and there are other wiki articles that could be wrong and we don't know.

If a value change from 1% to 2% people won't notice without hints in the patch notes. Even with a phrase in the patch notes there are balance changes that will not be that important to most of the player base and people won't notice. So a "slightly" being 1% or 1.075% it's a thing that I prefer to look outside the game because I don't want to translate from <numbers> to <how it's supposed to be played>, in a competitive game I can understand that information is displayed but in this game I think is not relevant for the most part of the players.

I know, there are some players out there that have a timed path for every tile with every perk in the game and even a 0.00001% value change can destroy their perfect though build. They are not even a big enough group to be found every day in your matches.

Let them abuse them, you lose addons regardless. So survivors don't have an infinite amount of addons anymore.

From what I've seen they seem to be very much on top of keeping it accurate, even when the PTB drops they update it with the possible changes within a few hours including the minor updates to the PTB while in progress, and the things that are outdated seem to be clearly indicated with the reason. Any mistakes they're quick to look into. I also don't think that it is purposefully hidden so much as back when they first were making the game it was done to make it so they could alter the values quicker and easier. @FichteHiro can probably shed some light on the subject.

They have, at least I have never run out of addons/items (if you play in some certain ways you can run out of tho). The limit could be how often do you get them in the blood web. But in theory with the luck on your side, you could have top combinations endlessly. Maybe I am wrong tho, I don't know how the bloodweb is generated and the wiki don't show any useful data besides a "cost rule" that doesn't seem to be what I see in-game. Another example of lack of information in the wiki that is not a big of a deal.

I Love using Blood Amber and Prayer Beads. It's a free Object of Obsession without the drawback but I literally ran out of both.

    =/

    I had about 30-50 each.

I literally have about 2 or 3 after the addon patch.

Well that combo cost 10K, the cost is not a problem, you can get 20K easily every game even without escaping. The problem is Blood Amber being very rare so it spawns far from the center so you have to focus it first or you will lose it.

My point is about green/yellow combos that can be consistent enough. Purple and red thingies are meant to be a time to time thing (although I have never run out of iridiscent hatchets or mori offerings xD) so it's a good thing that you can run out of them. You should have a stock pile of prayer beads tho.

The Wiki is not run by the Devs, it's run by Community Members just like you. We couldn't update the values for the Gatekeeper Emblem because we weren't able to get its values from the game files.

If you feel like something's wrong, feel free to go there and fix it yourself. I am completely open to suggestions, so are my fellow Admins, this link contains my wiki profile with some platforms you can contact me on: https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/UserProfile:FichteHiro0202. I'm a nice guy, feel free to contact me if something's up with the Wiki.

We always give a reason and visibly annotate if any information is not up-to-date.

I have contributed to other game wikis so I don't know how this one works but there are games where besides devs don't update the wiki, they give some info to contributors when it's hidden (server side code values for example).

I'm curious if that kind of interaction between devs and wiki contributors is common here too.

For the past year or so, all data containing any values on the wiki originates from the game code itself thanks to dataminers. If that is not the most accurate source, then we don't know what else is. We will, however, be working together with the devs in the near future.
