Livestreams too useless?
Just curious if anybody shares this sentiment, but livestreams feel completely and utterly pointless aside from the few actual issues they may address. Lately, they feel like a little get together for the devs to crack jokes with eachother and then defend the flaws in their own game rather than consider why it may not be working. I know with the COVID pandemic right now, it may be difficult but this is a recurring theme in their updates. While I appreciate the things they do that are good for this game, it's starting to feel they're heavily outweighed by the flaws the devs acknowledge, but don't fix. It really feels like the devs don't care about the players experience as much as having the players, if that makes any sense. Either be more transparent and understanding with the playerbase instead of denying what may be wrong, or sell the game to a studio that can. I love this game so much but lately it has gotten ridiculous with what could be, but isn't.

Mostly those Q&As were fake participating. They want to make you to believe that you as Player could submit urgent questions, but its all about marketing and not about taking care of the community. But BHVR just does what every other company also does. Getting useful information is unlikely.
20 -
Most of them I feel like are good but this one was really bad. Half the questions were completely useless like "How long have you wanted a gun wielding Killer?" or "What are the inspirations for his gun?"
14 -
They do not make sense if they read the prepared text. Like Ethan. The whole stream, if asked about something, he just read the finished text from the screen. What is this Q&A stream? What's the point? With the same success, you could put it in text form in any topic in the news. All. This is ridiculous. I am very disappointed with this stream, and the previous ones, where Ethan was, because he just reads the text and this is not a bit interesting. He even forgot the name of the perk when asked, god, and this is a game designer.

It's literally embarrassing to watch anymore, not to mention the content they had prepared, a looping 4 minute clip of deathslinger round gameplay. The devs literally have less motivation than my manager when she's stoned to the bone.
6 -
I was scratching my head wondering why time was being wasted answering questions about pointless stuff like the inspiration for Deathslinger's gun, or why anyone would even ask that for a live Q&A.
22 -
Yeah, most have some good pieces to them, but this last one had one important issue and the rest were of little to no importance. Then, if they were of slight importance, the devs literally brushed them off with no specified answer. REDACTED is such a joke of an answer, why even bother with the question.

livestreams have been pretty worthless to me for almost a year now. at most 3 to 4 questions about serious or interesting things about the game and its problem. I completely skip them now and just come to the forums if anything important comes out of it and once again seems that was the case
4 -
I genuinely don't watch the love streams but ik what they are like. They don't fix most stuff they ask you too. But I'm not saying that the game is bad. I also understand that from their perspective. It is hard making a game in general. Imagine making a game as hard as dead by daylight. For example, if you have ever coded before, even most of the simple stuff is hard. Imagine coding a game like dead by daylight. It is alot of work and alot of people do not understand that.

I feel like they just looked at the first page of questions and only went with that. I mean, I asked a question about the issue with TR audio for Killers like Oni, Doc, and cowboy Legion, and for a question that didn't have the fortune of being on the first page, it got a fair few upvotes; clearly people wanted to know the answer.
They ignored it entirely.
Not to mention the last time I asked a question that got TONS of upvotes and when they finally got around to answering it, it was re-worded to such a degree that it was barely the same question anymore—they were essentially LYING about what I even asked them.
So, yeah, I don't trust these QnA sessions and take them with a grain of salt.
8 -
I feel that. I think the devs literally just pick what they want to answer and even then, they avoid responding sometimes it feels like.

So it is with the forum. This is noticeably very good and I will just leave it here:

Somehow this came to my mind

I stopped watching these "live" streams ages ago. What a waste of time it is nowadays. Before they were fun to watch and I would make time when they were doing it. Now, nope.
1 -
I mean, at least one person was interested in those kind of questions, otherwise they would not have been asked.
In general, seeing those reactions in this Thread can lead the Devs to not do Q&As or Livestreams at some point. And if that is happening, Threads like "When is the next Livestream" or "OMG the Devs dont talk to their Community anymore!!!11" will pop up. Like...eh. If you dont like the Q&A thats fine, but calling people lazy or blaming them for reading their own answers (or answers from the person who is in charge for that type of question) is not really constructive.
3 -
I think the questions about the weaopon or the deathslinger are fine, if some people are interested in this cool looking dude i can totally understand that.
What im personally not happy about is the way they answer. No direct answers (which is fine in some cases if they want to make surprises or don't hype the community about something that is tested and may not work) and almost all of the time "we want to look at that". If there are so many balance things they want to look at then why aren't they investing more ressources into that specific part. I always have the picture of 10 people in a little studio programming dbd in my head, because it takes soo long to implement and look at things. They are'nt a small company at all but if you compare them to others, they're not capable of doing even the smallest things others handle in about 1 day.
If i'd put that amount of effort in my work as an employee in a large succesful company, i would be fired almost immediately. They even make bad jokes about some really annoying bugs in their game as programmers, which is the most insulting thing for me. If you are aware of issues then adress them and don't be like "haha yeah, haha, imagine cant leaving the basement because of a bug, haha".
Im aware that there are some things i can't look into as an outstanding person, but there are also some things that should have been fixed like months ago and the way they handle their ressource management is something i really can not undertsand. There are so many people out there that love this game by heart and they really hope that some things will be getting adressed in the future.

Q&A in a nutshell:
Q: Are you guys going to buff the clown anytime soon?
A:
Q: okay ...
1 -
Most questions they answer are basically
"What hair will Nea get next?"
Or
"What eyebrow shape will Jane get on her next cosmetic?"

Well, quite a few of us got banned from the stream for saying that their questions were garbage. I even went as far as to suggest that they are fake and drive the Dev's narrative. I must have struck a nerve with a mod, because I was banned right after. No biggies, at least I got the confirmation that I was right.
Nobody wants them to stop doing livestreams. What we want is for them to stop cherry picking their questions. It is not fair to us, as a community. There is no transparency here. The most upvoted question should be answered on the streams. That's it.
Also, stop answering the questions with "it's on our list of things to do." Nobody cares if it is on your list. What isn't on your list at this point? Can you give us more information on what you're working on or not? Do you not know how to hype the community? There was a question about the new MMR system, and the dev went on a five minute summary of what they're doing. We have already read about it 2 months ago! He finished it off by saying they are making progress. What does that mean? What point have you reached in the development of the MMR system? I know you guys gave him a 20 minute prior notice that he will be on the stream, but f* me, man.
This whole stream was a sh*tshow, to put it lightly. From the questions, to the same 4 minute video loop, and the inside jokes between the devs that we don't understand all just wrapped it around nicely into a cringe worthy one hour show.
Inb4 banned on the forums as well after this post.

I was hoping for info about cross progression/ crossplay, how they are going to fix deadzones etc, but it ended with questions about a killee that I hate to use and hate to play against.
1 -
I think Crossplay will be their big Anniversary announcement.
0 -
If it is, I will make you a god lol hopefully you are right and they just want to make us wait until the announcement

Do you realize we open a thread to collect the questions the community wants to ask to the devs for the Q&A every single time?
As you can see here, the questions answered during the livestream were taken from this thread:
So if you want what you define as "useful information", then for the next Q&A i suggest you to ask your questions on our Q&A thread.
5 -
Ya this stream was completely useless
0 -
Again, this isn't the issue. The issue is that you choose the "easy" questions while completely ignoring the popular questions that the community would like to see answered as well, based on the number of upvotes alone. Like questions about accesibility settings, broken sounds (as well as TR music being too quiet), bottom tier killer reworks, tome and recolored charms/skins, and so on and so forth.
You guys literally made a behind the scenes video of the new DLC where the people that were working on that project explain everything regarding the new killer, the inspiration and whatnot (kudos for that, btw, that was a great video). Why then choose to answer these questions again, on a stream, instead of pointing people back to that video?
I could go on, but I think I have made my point, and honestly I'm just too tired at this point because it feels like I'm barking at a wall.
11 -
"Like questions about accesibility settings, broken sounds (as well as TR music being too quiet), bottom tier killer reworks, tome and recolored charms/skins, and so on and so forth."
What do those things have to do with Chapter 15 or the Midchapter? Exactly, nothing. Not that hard to understand...
1 -
One person.....that justifies time being devoted to it as opposed to the questions hundreds of people were asking but were never addressed?
4 -
Nah, I just understand that only Questions regarding the Chapter 15 and Midchapter will be answered. So I will not waste my time asking a question which is not related to those two topics. And I will not watch a Livestream expecting that there will be an answer to my question.
I find that pretty easy to understand. Sure, other things should be answered as well, but they made it clear which questions will be accepted, and anyone who asks different stuff should not expect an answer.
I might be alone with that, but I am already used to this kind of work companies do.

Okay, fair enough. Then how about the questions about the changes in the lightning and graphical improvements, the death traps, the removal of great pallets and how the pallet system works now, the fact that they added in-game ping, but not ping indicators for players in the lobby etc. There are a lot of great questions specifically about the upcoming patch as well, as you can see.
I agree that a couple of questions that I've pointed out are not about the upcoming patch, but there is nothing wrong with asking questions like that. They're basically shielding themselves when they say "only questions about this and that" because they know that they will get the same questions over and over again that they do not want to address.
4 -
I've replied to Aven in that regard. There were a lot of questions that were about the upcoming patch or the previous one, and were left unanswered.
Also, broken sounds, and arguably the tome recolors are viable questions for the next patch. Sounds - why were they still not fixed. Recolors - why are they still here if we don't want them (unless the survey proved otherwise, and we would all be really grateful to see the results of that one to help with transparency).
1 -
I like a lot of questions being asked. I find it interesting to hear about the inspirations and ideas that helped create certain characters
1 -
You've literally described the outlook of the DBD team, at the very least.
0 -
This was a Q&A about the new features and content from said chapter and midchapter, if they decide in the future to do a strictly technical stream about the issues you mentioned, then good, but this past one wasn't about that.
It was simply just about that, nothing related to bugs, number of pallets, sounds.
Also i think that calling useless questions other users asked is pretty disrespectful, since they took their time to ask them and they are probably glad they got an answer.
1 -
Regarding that, people could have watched the video below, and the devs could have answered other questions instead. I know why the gun goes harpoo and not pew, because I watched the video.
"It was simply just about that, nothing related to bugs, number of pallets, sounds."
So what was this stream even about then? The things I have stated above are all the things that are changing in the upcoming patch. How is it not a good question to ask why the death traps are there or how the pallet distribution works now? If this is too technical then say that in the upcoming Q&A thread, so we know not to ask those questions. You know, the questions that actually matter on how the gameplay will unfold in the next couple of months.
12 -
Man, it's not even worth arguing with him. He's just as thick-skulled as the devs, he won't even consider what you're saying. Or she, or them, idk pronouns here.
3 -
Everybody on the forums already knows that critical questions are either deleted in before or just gotten ignored for the Q&A. Most questions asked do not bring any relevant Information. And even if some questions find their way into the stream the answers are "works as intended" like the question about survivor addons, when most of the question Was just ignored, or "we are working on it" and not giving any further Information on when or how or anything. Its just about "funfacts" in this streams. Maybe our opinions on what a Q&A should contribute to the community differ, but as it stands atm theyre just not relevant for the gameplay.
6 -
Exactly, the devs need to learn to be able to listen to the community and respond to even the most negative of feedback. They don't know how to interact with their audience well. They aren't transparent, instead they give vague and unpromising answers or ignore the questions altogether for a less meaningful question.
3 -
To think I used to have faith in these devs, pathetic. Can't believe they waste so much time responding to posts only to be rejecting their idea. Do the devs not know how to say a simple "sorry, our fault, we'll fix it"? They literally defend anything just so they can change it at their own leisure instead of the demand of a whole community.
3 -
To be fair, i'm pretty sure they can't always give specific answers.
And if they gave dates and didn't deliver because x thing happenned then they would get even more yelled at.
0 -
That stream was the worst ever.
Keep it up BHVR, putting people to sleep.
4 -
I highly disagree, the fact they put that funny clip before the livestream shows they know what really happens with the game and they are aware of the issues,as every livestream, they can only adress that is already in the game and upcoming and announced.
0 -
This is fair, I mean look at what happened with DBD mobile being released the year after it was supposed to be released. But still, why even bother bringing in questions like "Are you going to rework more maps?" when all they can say is "Our answer is redacted, haha, sorry." when they can answer a question with a legitimate response? It doesn't make sense to me, this livestream felt like an attempt at reeling in players with a slight sense of hope for the game, but without making any promises just to stay safe, which is ok, but wasteful.

Did they give any Perk Stats?
SWF Stats?
Escape rates per rank?
Gen times and match times per rank after the Ruin nerf?
Gen times and match times before the ruin nerf?
Killers kill rate per rank?
Solo survival rates?
THIS is useful information, this determines which side needs help and which needs some tweaking.
I asked this question and it was deleted.
I asked it again, and it was deleted.
This question was not answered.
I'm just saying, not starting a discussion, but THIS is useful information.
4 -
They cherry pick their questions and read off a script when answering the questions, it's not even a real Q&A just a script at that point. Only way you're gonna get genuine answers about important stuff about the game is if you interview them in person like when King interviewed Matthew Cote.
5 -
Yo my answer got responded to! shame the answer was to every question tho
0 -
They wouldn't answer these because they weren't only mid-chapter and chapter 15 related. You can find Rizzo's later answers in this post too stating this thing.
