A Safe Place for Nurses Please
I really like the Nurse, it's just frustrating being put up against green, purple and even red ranks when I'm trying to get my hard earned practice hours in.
At the start of every match I'm like "here we go, another red rank bully fest"
All too predictably now it's at least 9 times out of 10 that I'm right on this. So I just close the post match chat window now and let them derp away to themselves.
This month I've tried to stick to it and only play nurse but it just gets so depressing after the first even 2 or 3 matches that I inevitably go back to ANY other killer just to grab a breath and relax a bit.
I think Nurse should be on a whole different killer rank queue to all other killers., that way we'd have a fair chance of getting some descent practice in before getting into the misery grind.
It'd be a nice to have to help with the learning curve before the high rank derpstorm begins but probably asking a bit much on this one.

Nurse is still the best killer... Just pretty bad at traveling the map, especially without addons. Shes very difficult to play though, the best kind of enemies to practise on are the hardest ones.

Why do you give a f if it is a bully fest or not? You want to practice the Nurse, so just dont care if you win or loose. Play your game, learn the blinks and expect that you will loose.
On top of that, the best way to practice is to verse people who know how to play against Nurse. Getting stomped as a Nurse beginner is totally normal.
9 -
Actually its best to learn against people a little above your skill level and slowly move up by adjusting your own flaws.
I would learn jack ######### playing Basketball against top tier pros all the time because I don't know if I'm actually learning basic skills because everything I do ends up failing.
10 -
Because no one likes to start up a game and go "Oh boy! I can't wait to see how I get my butt kicked today!"
I understand where OP is coming from. You want to learn new killers because they seem fun but some have a large enough skill curve that starting out will have you get destroyed, especially if you get to high ranks with a different killer. I had a similar experience trying to learn Huntress when I got to red ranks as Ghostface. After getting destroyed a couple times i ended up waiting for rank reset before doing anything.

Nurse is hard, and people are mean. I dont envy your grind. Hang in there. A mastered Nurse is an unstoppable force. <3

Stop this blatant lie.
Get real.

I guess i am an exception then. Versing people who are better then me always resulted in a benefit. Dont let frustration get to you, thats the only advise that is reasonable because devs wont make killerbase ranking for obvious reasons.
That is true in most games and also different things in life, but not in DbD. Why you may ask? Because rank does not mean a lot in this game. A rank 1 could be a decent player or almost a beginner.
The second reason is also quiet simple: You noticed that i used the word decent and not good? Because there are almost no good players in DbD. The skill level in this game is absurdly low compared to any competetive game i have played. Becoming global elite in CS took me some effort, while becoming among the "best" players in DbD was easy. No competition, not enough tryhards. Beeing normally talented and investing a couple of hundred hours should already make you one of the better players if you take it kinda "serious". In other games, you are mediocre at best under that conditions.

Not a lie, she is the best killer still. No other killer ends chases as fast. Of course, she's heavily dependant on the players' skill.

On PC perhaps but for us console players I'm not so sure. I'm trying to get to the god Nurse status, but it will take a long time if it will ever happen. And playing survivor I almost never get to play against a really good nurse.
0 -
The only things that limit her on console are low sens and bad framerate. One of those problems is getting fixed tuesday. Even though I can still do well with Nurse, when the framerate is ok
1 -
No, it's a literal, blatant, flat out lie.
She's the only killer riddled with bugs, she's heavily reliant on addons, she loses her secondary blink at any given time, without range addons you can't catch up to a survivor holding W.
Want me to provide you with a list of MY knows Nurse issues? I'm a Nurse main, as well by the way.
- She can't blink to the 3rd story of the Hawkins Lab, where that single generator is.
- She can't blink on multiple balconies in the Saloon map.
- She can't blink on top of the Shrine in the Oni Map.
- Grab animations after blinking favor the survivor, so you miss your blink-hit and you get into fatigue.
- After successfully grabbing a survivor you're momentarily stunned as well, meaning you can't walk normally for 2 seconds because the system still registers the slowdown fatigue movement speed loss while you're carrying a survivor, making further hooks a nightmare to get to.
- I already mentioned she loses her secondary blink at any time.
- Servers are heavily against her blinks, meaning you have to hold your blink down for a longer amount of time if you want to even short blink. Short blinking makes you blink in place because the awful servers don't register your blink so soon.
No, she's not "still the best killer in the game."
You can achieve the same amount of kills with Ghostface, Oni, Freddy a lot more easier and at the fraction of the frustration Nurse provides.
Stop kidding yourself and play her at Purple and Red Ranks, I want to see it.

Im rank 1 both killer and survivor... I play both 50/50. I know my killers

I mainly play Nurse as well and I'm easily able to blink wherever I please. And yes, that includes the Isolation Room on Hawkins, the Shrine on Sanctum, and the Saloon balconies. I also just watched a guy play Nurse and he blinked straight to the top of the shrine, easily! If you're unable to blink to those areas, then maybe that's a personal problem, not the killer. Also, I've never had a problem moving after grabbing people, and I recently played several games in a row where I grabbed people off of generators.
And a well-played Nurse doesn't have to use range addons to "catch up" to people.... if they've gotten far enough away for you to have to blink long-range then you're already playing wrong. Furthermore, range addons don't help you catch people, they only allow people to easily double back while you're blinking and waste your time (which I do frequently, since most Nurses I play against use range addons.... P3 Nurses to top it off). I personally use Monitor and Abuse on her so that I can get closer to people before I start blinking, and it works extremely well. If anything, I would say that she is perfectly fine without addons, and the only addons that you would need to use would be her double cooldown reduction and maybe a blink recharge speed. Nurse is the strongest killer in the game in the right hands, and it doesn't take a genius to realize that--the fact that she is the only killer who can completely ignore pallets, windows, loops, floors and balconies is something in and of itself. I play Nurse when I sense the sweaty 4-man group, with great results π
I think that gamers need to realize that Nurse is extremely strong, but it is very easy to make mistakes as her, and making mistakes as Nurse is very punishing (especially when you start panicking and getting frustrated). It's easy to call her bad because you play against bad Nurses, but since when has the fault of the player suddenly become "the character itself is bad"? You wouldn't watch bronze ranked gamers on League of Legends play Zed, play very poorly (since he's a hard-to-play character), and then call Zed trash.... that would be ridiculous. This is what is happening with Nurse.

The fact that you say her range addons are bad shows that you donβt know Nurse. Range HUGELY helps her in the chase and with her map pressure.

Because there's a difference in learning against a normal team, and a team out to make your life miserable.
1 -
I'm not going to argue what's best or not -- personally for me I feel like the greater the adversity, the more quickly I adapt.
Anyway, that's just me. I just wanted to say, I would hardly call green ranks "top tier pros." Even red ranks have people that play like some rank 18s I've seen. Any argument based on rank is pretty unfounded, because ranks aren't representative of skill. Not that people aren't generally better in higher ranks like red ranks, versus a rank 18 or something, but come on... It's stretching a bit to try to say "top tier pros" when that clearly isn't what's said in the OP.
1 -
I'm trying not to use any addons so I dont get used to something that's not the baseline for nurse. If I can do ok without then I'll see how I can do with addons.
2 -
Only if you care. What would you suggest instead if he runs into one of those teams? Disconnect?
The best and only solution is to not care if they try to bully or not and simply try to give its best.
0 -
Oh, that's funny because I watch streamers and also watch YouTube channels that can't blink to those areas.
Are you also going to tell me that her loss of her secondary blink ability is a myth?
Aside from the blinks, what else do you want to discredit from my list provided?
Come on buddy, I'll be waiting.

Range addons help massively. Pre nerf, you would be right that it would change the muscle memory. But now, her blink charge rate is always the same. The addons just make it so that she closes her hand later for the additional distance.

I wasn't referring to the toxic portion itself, such as teabagging, I was referring to the playstyle in general. Where they will all attempt to bait you into chases, weaponize head on, vault spam when they don't have your attention, and so on. Learning to play against that as a baby Nurse, vs normal gameplay, is something else entirely. Though a good Nurse can mop the floor with that, actually getting to that point is the challenge.
0 -
Those teams exist, but i dont see any problem with that. Actually it is really good training to get better at chases to play versus people who are seeking your attention.
What is your recommandation for the OP?

Hmmm I wonder why someone playing a game to have fun is not enjoying the game when people are literally abusing him in it?
HMMMM

I agree so hard with you like I got a 4K with The Nurse and thatβs because I practiced I learned the blink range, I learned how to precisely blink and grab survivors or hit, I learned how to easily mind game pallets. Itβs a shame it got boring after a while because I was sweating really hard so I could get Bloodpoints for Quentin. So I stopped playing Nurse because I thought I was trying way to hard and I was being abnormally good on her but you get the point practice makes perfect!!!!!
2 -
You might be right. I don't play games on PC so have no idea how things works there just hear all the time how Nurse is harder to play on console.
It can't be hard for them to let us practice the game as killer and survivor just free play on any map. Alone or against AI killer or survivors, can it?

I brought up a YouTuber being able to blink to the top of the shrine because it proved my point, that it IS possible. Being a YouTuber or streamer doesn't automatically make you a god gamer, and does not mean that you can't make mistakes, which is obviously what is happening with the content creators that you watch, because you CAN blink to those areas. It IS possible to do so, and seeing people who are unable to do so does not prove your point, it only proves that those people are blinking incorrectly. It is difficult to blink to the top floor in Hawkins if you don't know where the hallway is, but it is perfectly feasible, because I have done it many times myself, even blinking in front of the Isolation Room. I've blinked up to the Saloon balconies numerous times without any issue. Since I and other gamers are ABLE to do so, it renders your point of it being a "bug" irrelevant, and actually proves that it is an inability on the part of you and the YouTubers/streamers that you watch. Here's a YouTuber I like to watch easily blinking to the top of the Shrine: https://youtu.be/dgSaOuNK5qc?t=590
I actually have experienced the "second blink disappearing bug", however it's only happened to me once in my experience. It vanished after I blinked once, so I waited a few seconds and it reappeared, then I easily caught the person I was originally chasing. It really was no issue at all. I'm sorry if you're experiencing something different and more impactful, but for me it was more of a minor inconvenience, nothing more.
As for the rest of your "bugs", I have never had a problem grabbing people off of things, and the times that I have missed a grab were times that would have happened to me regardless of the killer that I was playing. This is more of a latency issue rather than a killer bug, and I think people tend to forget that they and the other players on their games can have poor connections and thus make some mechanics work improperly. I've never had a problem blinking short distances, and the only times that I've been unable to blink through an obstacle and have instead blinked in place were because my blink did not make it past the midpoint of the obstacle, so it put me on the same side that I blinked from. If your blink does not make it past the middle point of the obstacle, you will NOT go past the obstacle.... it's the same way that Flash works on League of Legends. Here is a clip of me grabbing survivors without trouble, being able to move normally after grabbing and blinking short distances without issue: https://imgur.com/a/xsaJyZk (and yes, that is red/purple rank gameplay, it was a SWF group who used a Hawkins Offering π)
I've provided proof of these things not being real "bugs" (aside from the Saloon balconies and Hawkins top floor, I didn't have a clip with those), and I'm not going to argue with you any more. If you want to continue in your belief that Nurse is worse than killers like Ghostface (really?), Oni and Freddy, then that's up to you. I know that it's easier to blame your mistakes on the game rather than yourself, but once you realize that you have more control over the game than you think, you'll then realize that Nurse really is the strongest killer and that you just have to "get good".

Hmm.... that must be why I get consistent victories with Nurse in purple/red ranks without ever having used range addons. Like I said in my first message, the only thing that range addons do is make it easier for survivors to juke her blinks (in my experience playing against many Nurses who all seem to use range addons). I think people forget that Nurse can simply walk(?) like normal killers, as she's only .15 slower than a survivor, and that she doesn't HAVE to blink to move across the map. In my experience, the less you blink, the better, because it gives survivors less information as to your whereabouts and allows you to get the drop on them more often than not, especially with Monitor and Abuse (which is why I don't understand taking Shadowborn, Monitor and Abuse gives you an FOV increase AND a smaller terror radius, which is always great).
To assume that I don't know Nurse because I call her range addons bad is silly, especially since I do perfectly fine without them. I use pinecone + ataxic respiration or a blink recharge speed addon, use her blinks ONLY when I see survivors and am in range, and consistently have fun, productive games in purple/red rank π

As to what the OP said, there honestly should just be a practice room against bot survivor so that killers don't have to wait [However Long] in a queue just to lose because they don't know a passable amount of their mechanics. I do not believe that there should be seperate queue's for a killer, as every single killer should be on the same plane of balance.
That being said, Imagine being able to completely ignore pallets, loops, verticality, and distance to the survivor and thinking Nurse is not the best killer in the game. Sure, there are bugs, but once those are gone, then what?
0 -
I agree monitor is good, but you are wrong about her range addons. A good team will punish a nurse who walks too much by pushing the gens. Monitor allows her to get close while making use of her range.
0 -
Yes its a shame that some people try to bully, but what you gonna do about it? I never said its a good thing to bully a new killer, but the only advise for that is to ignore the bully and try the best to get better with Nurse. You got a better advise for the OP?
1 -
Her mobility only got reduced slightly, her chases only last a little bit longer. 3.5 seconds is pretty much nothing for Nurse.
And all these changes can be negated by add-ons.
People need to get used to not having all the OP add-ons they could ever ask for.
1 -
That's all fine and dandy, but they slapped on another cooldown on her.
Unnecessary.

Well its been 2 weeks of pretty much just playing nurse whenever I'm on and I'm kiiiindof getting the hang of it. Got my first 3k vs some pretty high ranked players and my first 4k as well had I not let the last survivor go in celebration.
Once I got the hang of it she started to get more and more fun. So rewarding getting those blink hits and even grabs! I accidentally grabbed someone while they where attempting to de-hook a survivor while blinking through a wall blindly hoping I had my distancing right. I dont know who was more shocked me or the rescuer lmao.

Yeah, she's still buggy. She's nowhere near fine and I believe she's been left abandoned just like they wanted her to be. It's honestly painful and embarrassing to see your first DLC killer in such ruin.
None, and he doesn't.

Yeah, console has been improved. You can backwards blink now and it feels natural on console.
I just 4'ked on Azervo's Resting Place, I might tip toe out of brown ranks for once. I've always had fun playing at Brown ranks and staying there.

I legally without breaking ToS depipped my way out of Red Ranks. It's not worth it, killers get punished the better they do.
