Weekly perks ban feature
Imagine 4 survivor's perks, and 2 killer perk's, banned weekly, that would bring some variety in gameplay

I already dislike weekly bans in Overwatch so I really wouldn’t want it in dbd.

No, and why the different numbers on each side?

There is already alot of interchangable perks that you can make plenty of whackly builds for, just say you want DS, Unbreakable and DH to be removed so that people at rank 1 would stop running meta builds LMAO.
I know its not that deep but some killers also pretty much suffer greaty if their specific perk that makes them viable is removed, so it would affect gameplay quite much I think.

Thats why i chose only 2 killers perk

But that would then more lead to killers playing other roles when their main required perk is blocked, rather than killers running different builds. Like STBFL blocked? Ok, no Demo this week, time for GF or Billy. At least my guess

I'd rather have a free rotation than a ban rotation (ideally on both characters and perks). That would still have the effect of encouraging people to try out different things, but it wouldn't force them to abandon their favourite characters or builds. Plus, it would help new players to familiarise themselves with the game, give them more variety to choose from when first starting out, and encourage DLC purchases by allowing players to enjoy playing with different perks and characters before buying them.

That works too

Damn, that read though.
Nice.

Players have to swear their arse off to unlock those perks. Then, after all that, they're told they can't use what they've earned. I don't think it would be a healthy feature.

You mean adding bloodpoint multipliers for using those perks? It could work, although it might encourage people too much towards using those perks - having everyone use the same few perks for a week is potentially just as bad as everyone using the same meta perks all the time ordinarily. If they did have a perk rotation, though, I'm sure they could put in similar restrictions to the ones the Shrine is supposed to have, to stop the same perks from appearing over and over.

This would be totally unhealthy for the game. The mere EXISTENCE of some perks (NoED and DS in particular) make the game healthier because they force killers to target people other than the guy who just got unhooked and force survivors to do objectives other than generators. Imagine the week one of these perks are banned. Killers would tunnel survivors into oblivion the week DS is banned, and survivors would gen rush like never before the week NoED is banned.

DS, Borrowed Time, Adrenaline, and Dead Hard would be banned every single gd week. This idea would be neat if it didn't mean 6 of the same perks would be banned every week meaning they'd never be used. Making it random could be interesting, but people would complain about buying the perk itself or the killer for the perk and then straight up not getting to use it. Great on paper and could be tinkered with the be cool though

NOED is not healthy for the game at all. Especially when you make a build around noed it's straight up unfair. Otz has proven that. Killer main btw

Borrowed time banned for any amount of time would be horrendous.

I don't like it. Better idea would be a game mode with a random perk pool to choose from, turn based, where both killer and survivor can see what the other is taking. Once a perk is taken, no one else can get it. Say 20 perks for survivor to choose from and 10 for killer to choose from.
1 -
That 's my idea, it would be random, not the same perks
0 -
no, overwatch does the same mistake

Just imagine survivors and killers can ban a perk
Killers decision:DS
Survivors decision:BBQ, PGTW...

Imagine spending 2m bloodpoints to unlock a perk, and then unlock it on your main just to have it be banned for the next week. I would throw my PC out the window.
3 -
No thanks.
Someone like me who's semi-F2P has been waiting for months to get all the perks I want from the shrine.
I finally got dying light last week. Imagine if it was banned at that time. I wouldn't be able to test it out.

Okay i get it, no one wants a change so ppl with stop using the same perks over and over
0 -
So during the week bbq or pop are ban you will see a decrease in the killer population so i dont think its a good idea

It's sad that some ppl can't play without meta perks
0 -
It is not even about that! You're taking it personally now for no reason. Let people use whatever the hell they want. They paid for the game, they probably paid fort he DLCs, and they've put hundreds of hours into leveling those characters so that they can enjoy what they bring to the table. And you want to straight up get rid of some of the perks every week. People use meta perks, because they work. That is why they are called meta perks. The meta shifts just about with every patch that come out.
Just imagine if your system would ban unbreakable on the survivor side one week. What would happen then? Survivors going against slugging Billies and Nurses for the whole week?
It is not a great idea, no need to feel attacked because people don't agree with it.

I didn't take it personally, tf you talking about?

Instead of banning perks what about giving weekly buffs for perks or character? With Buffs I mean, giving people more BP for playing an certain character or perk.
This way you could say perks like small game, kindred and open handed give people 0.5 more bps or playing quentin, kate and david give 0.3 more bp. It doesn't have to be a big reward. Just something that helps to get through the grinding.
Maybe with a little reward system. Playing with Kindred 5 times end the buff but reward you with 200k BP. It would really help new players to get some nice juicy bloodpoints.

That would also make the game a bit more competitive and people that play casually won't be able to have fun with some perks. I myself am a head on gamer and just imagine my immeasurable disappointment if I'm not allowed able to use it.

Yeah i think you hit the nail on the head, as to why this idea would not really work out so well. Since you do have to unlock these perks, by grinding out them blood points. Only to for the chance to be there of the game, going nope or saying you can't use a character or their perks you grind for or paid for.
Which since the idea is to try and add variety, i'm not sure that will work out as planned. Since well the idea comes off more as forcing people to do something against their will. Since even if you explain to some people, this idea is to get them to try out new things, they will go i don't wanna try out new things. I wanna use what i know works or what i have fun with. While a blood point bonus, for using x perk might work out better. Which make it a one time bonus, to keep everyone from using these perks all week. That way people can choose to run these perks for some blood points or skip it and just play with what they normally run. Might be a better idea of getting others to try out new perks.
That and another reason why banning might not work out very well is, well lets look at card games. Card games like yu-gi-oh normally have certain cards that are limited or ban for official tournament play. Due to certain cards simply being to powerful for use or for unlimited use, petty much done to help ensure a more balance fair game. With the list getting updated over time, as certain cards might no longer be as powerful as they once were. While you can still use these banned cards for casual play with your friends, able to still make use of them. Just not in official tournaments. That and card games normally have hundreds or 1000s of cards. While dead by deadlight only has a handful of perks. Which are rather small next to well, the massive amount of things you can make a deck with in a card game. That and unless you have friends who also own and play the game. You are force to play rank mode, since there is well no casual mode where anything goes [to play with or against randoms]. So if you like playing a certain way, being say the team healer on survivor and it why you run say Claudette's perks. Well you won't be able to possibly do that for a week or two, due to random rng. With the ban of perks, being done randomly and not for any sort of balance like card games.
Honestly, it doesn't seem like randomly banning perks each week, is really going to make people try out new perks but rather just be feeling like they got screwed over for no real reason, other than rng.

They can always make casual mode
0 -
Imagine how longer queues would be if Pop or BBQ got banned.
0 -
They specifically said they don't want a casual mode since it's not useful nor necessary.
0 -
Not really.
Only every now and then would a/some meta Perk(s) be banned, the rest of the time everything else would get a ban.
Also, i don't really like the game telling me what not to use.
It's one reason why i don't play Friday The 13th.

Tell me a better slow down perk and a better tracking perk that dont rely on the survivor mistake then im all ear
0 -
Each week the same perks would be banned and tunnelling would prob increase cause of it. Atleast you had DS so you could fight it off and get a good chase, but now if people ban DS and BT and DH for example, killer could just stand infront of the hook and get ya. Doesn't seem like a good idea
1 -
I don’t see the point in this being a feature. If anything, people would probably stop playing for the week if it’s a perk they use. I know it’s to spice up gameplay with different perks, but don’t we already have the tome for that with certain missions? I wouldn’t be against the daily rituals adding in objectives like “Escape using Premonition” just as an example. I think that would be a more fair way to implement what you’re going for.
1 -
This isn't a competitive game
0 -
No, it would be random, not the same perks :>
0 -
Oh,I see :F

:P
0 -
Yeah i forgot about tunneling and camping killers, oof.
0 -
want it in*
Okay do you have a reason?
0 -
I feel like the reason is obvious. People like their builds. If you take that choice or freedom away from them, they are less inclined to play. Look at Friday the 13th. A lot of peoples BIGGEST issue with that game (besides the fact that the game is dead) was that you couldn't just queue up as Jason. It was random.
2 -
This wouldn't work in dbd because some of the more used perks are needed or killers will camp and tunnel. Plus, taking out the top perks won't make perk builds more varied, there will still be a meta build. Take out DH, DS, BT, and UB? New meta is IW, SB, OoO/Resilience, and Adrenaline. If the perks aren't balanced removing a few of them won't make the meta more diverse, it will just shift the meta downwards. Also imagine if bbq or wglf got banned KEKW.
0 -
That's a silly complaint. If everyone could queue up as Jason exclusively then their queues would take 30+ minutes. I agree with you about liking their builds though.
0 -
Agreed I stopped playing ow comp due to hero vans.
1 -
Imagine everybody quitting lmao
0 -
I mean, I agree with F13 it would have been bad, but it's still a legit complaint, because it was compared to DBD. But the choice thing is a core concept of DBD, taking that away would be an awful idea. I would rather see them take less used perks and make them more useful. Do some meta-changing perk updates instead of saying "no using this perk this week"; cause a week would come up where DS or BBQ wasn't usable and people would lose their proverbial feces.
0 -
Agreed, having so many unique perk ideas in this game turn out to be pretty much useless compared to the strongest perks is disheartening. Perk balance changes would definitely improve the experience and add more incentive to stick with dbd, to see how the meta adapts.
1 -
Thank you for the correction, I did not notice that error when I typed my original comment. My reason? Well, I for one do not want perks I like using banned and not many people would, I also don’t like my build variety being banned. Another issue I could see would be that perks that no one uses could get banned which would essentially make the system serve no purpose.
1 -
no, the same will be guarantee to be banned: adrenaline, unbreakable, dead hard, decisive strike for survivor
for killer, endurance and spirit fury maybe rotating with two other annoying perk
