I "fixed" the Anti Aliasling issue.
Hello guys, I found out a solution for the AA issue until devs listen us and revert it. I will let you two ways to do this
1-GeForce Experience Game Filter:
(This is just available for nvidia users)
If you updated drivers before you know which app is this, use for that, optimize games, record and stream games.
(you shouldn't see DbD duplicated, I do have it like that because I always leave a security copy every time I update DbD or aply a PTB)
Download link: https://www.nvidia.com/es-es/geforce/geforce-experience/
So what we have to do is going to the settings part which is just at the left of our user name in the corner up-right. Then we enable an option called "in-game overlay".
Then we can now open DBD and activate it pressing alt+z so we can see the overlay. We must now go to an option called "game filter" (if i doesn't appear, go back to the GeForce settings and enable "experimental functions").
Then we choose any number for our graphic settings, add filter, add "details" and the result should look similar to this. The way we're "disabling" Anti Aliasling is by enabling extra sharpness:
NOTE: please don't use that HDR so high, that's my personal setting to help with my brightness eye issue.
This one is a personal recommendation which helped me a lot to difference some objects and characters for their color, helps a lot with red stain and scratchmarks:
For this last one you must be precise with the numbers.
This is how my game looks like for me with "details" and "color" (for you with less HDR it looks a bit darker and doesn't hurt your eyes):
("color" is disabled in this second one)
And this is how it would look by default:
UPDATE: DOWSEY'S METHOD (only for nvidia users):
This consists on using the control panel, and is a faster way to add sharpness, so I won't explain it here and ask you to watch the video to support him.
-QUESTION: is this banable?
-ANSWER. No, Behaviour gave nvidia permission to add filter support.
2-AMD Drivers:
Credits to @Fiv55
(watch the comparisions with the screenshots of their comment)
3- Using SweetFX:
I personally don't know a lot from this but I will help you with all I know.
First here is the best tutorial video for it. It's in German but it's self explanatory by just watching it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWceb0ZmjJg
The download link isn't included, you must google it, or use this one from this link which is the one used in the video. The instructions in english to install it are included in the web page: https://sfx.thelazy.net/games/preset/5924/
After you installed it and opened DBD once, you will notice in a corner that SweetFX is activated and you have to press "(idk the default one)" key to activate it. Then close DbD, go back to the folder where you installed it and change the settings manually in the note files. This is hard and confusing, that's why the nvidia filter is better.
-QUESTION: is this banable?
-ANSWER: it does exactly the same thing as the nvidia filter, I also tried this for some months because I saw a dev answering a thread saying it's secure, however, I used this in 2018, and I'm not sure if eac changed anything, but I'm really really sure that it's still no banable, so I can't either say yes or no, sorry.
CONSOLE USERS:
for my PS4 I have a TV which has visual settings, almost all the monitors have this. When I choose HDMI3 my TV automatically puts my personal visual settings, now, I can't show this first because mobile pictures to screens look awful and second because all TVs have different settings, so I can't really help you here, you need to explore yourself.
EXTRAS
DISABLING VSYNC AND UNCAP FPS
So as you can see from my screenshots, my fps aren't capped to 60 which is the default setting from the game, and Vsync can be disabled for better skillchecks. I will show now how to fix these too here:
Go to the windows' search bar and type for a program called "Run" or just press windows key+R. After opening, type %appdata% and click on accept.
now here, you have to revert one folder clicking here (where the rectangle says):
Then, by order, open the following folders: Local>Dead by Daylight>Saved>Config>WindowsNoEditor
Here we will find the two files we need:
-Engine.ini
-GameUserSettings.ini
Let's go first with Vsync. Open GameUserSettings.ini then search a line which says "bUseVSync=True". You just need to change "True" to "False" (with capital letter).
(PERSONAL RECOMENDATION) now that you're in this file, to make the game look with better resolution and better textures in low graphics, I recommend you to change the lines of the top of the file like this:
Remember that if you change the settings later ingame, you will have to repeat all this, so to get these settings safe, save changes and close the file, then right click to it, go to propperties and make it "read only". If you want to change anything later, disable this.
Now, uncapping FPS (this is just like we used to do to disable anti aliasling:
Open Engine.ini and go to the end of the file. Leave a line space and copy this:
[/script/engine.engine]
bSmoothFrameRate=false
MinSmoothedFrameRate=5
MaxSmoothedFrameRate=144
bUseVSync=false
so it later looks like this:
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Welp this is all, hope I could help you with this issue. Have fun and stay home!

I mean , with V sync and AA On , your 'fix' wont fix major FPS drop from those two options.
1 -
I wonder how have you uncapped your FPS in there?
0 -
I have Vsync disabled, but FPS always depends on the PC of each user
0 -
You can still disable the FPS cap and Vsync in the ini files. I will edit my discussion and show how to do it right now
0 -
How could you disable the v-sync? They blocked the ini files , Yeah but for me AA make my FPS drop i wont spit on ~15 fps
0 -
they didn't block the ini files because as you can see the FPS cap can still get uncapped. They just blocked the AA settings.
0 -
I changed a lot of things to be able to play the game , So i doubt they just blocked AA settings like motionblur etc... They blocked all the engine files for sure .i think peanits confirmed that
0 -
if that's true, either he's wrong or my game is bugged because again, it can be seen there that my fps aren't capped.

Just tell us what you did :D

placeholder for amd tutorial ^^ coming soon :)
//
open up Radeon, click on the settings wheel (1), select Graphics (2) and Game Graphics (3)
click on Dead By Daylight
Radeon Image Sharpening: Enabled (100%)
Expand the advanced settings below
Anti Aliasing: Override application settings
Anti-Aliasing Level: 2x
Anisotropic Filtering: Enabled
Anisotropic Filtering Level: 16x
Right side menu you can activate Custom Color and change it to your preference. Make sure you've selected the right monitor (mouse over to check), dont be a dummy like me and change your 2nd monitor ;)
Havent tested these settings yet, but I'll post some screenshots soon.
No AA/Anisotropic Filter/Sharpness/Color (aka default)
Override System Settings for AA (2x) + Anisotropic Filter (x16) + Sharpness:
Override System Settings for AA (2x) + Anisotropic Filter (x16) + Sharpness WITH color correct:
(Brightness 15, Hue 5, Contrast 200, Saturation 185. These values might vary from panel to panel as well as from your standard/personal monitor settings. But you can adjust them for yourself while in tutorial).
Difference between these pics (color isnt really important, blur of the gen cables/edge of gen)

yeah yeah, I'm answering you guys in a second tab while editing my discussion. I will tag you when I finish so you can get warned :)

For AMD the only solution I could think was the second method which is using SweetFX, nearly at the end of the discussion. Sorry but I don't have any AMD graphic card and idk how the drivers work for those, so I could just help with SweetFX :(
0 -
What about us console players :(
1 -
I play in ps4 too. My best recommendation is to change the settings of visual from the TV or monitor. I will add this in my discussion edit too. Thanks for mentioning it.

@Rin_is_my_waifu @GMan79 hey, I updated my discussion for your requests. Hope I helped you both :)
0 -
i have tried this but its still blurry to me and i had fps drops while playing. guess it is not enough for players with low end laptops just like me :/
0 -
GeForce is supported only for their higher graphic cards and this game filter feature is new. Which is your nvidia version?
0 -
i don't have nvidia. i do have an amd graphic card thats i have tried his solution but did not work for me tho.
0 -
so you tried SweetFX? remember to write optimized settings, and if your graphic card is bad you can't do any of this
0 -
can I use this info to edit my discussion?
0 -
no I meant Radeon Settings, not SweetFX. I updated my post with screenshots / instructions. But I havent had the time yet to test the best results yet, so people have to either wait or try themself :)
sure you can, but I'll edit some screenshots for comparison soon.^^
1 -
I also used Nvidia Freestyle to add sharpness like OP said, but I found another filter for it. This new filter sits as a standalone option, separate from the "detail" filter, is is simply called “Sharpen”.
1 -
the reason why I used details is because there is an option included called "clarify"
0 -
lol wut, did they delete my post with screenshots? Without any notification or reasoning? Not sure what part about these instructions is supposed to be against the forum TOS?!
Thanks OP for the credits ^^
// Ok its back :)

Re: AMD Radeon settings
The system override anti-aliasing is only for DirectX 9 games (it says this if you hover over the "?" tooltip). I don't think it will do anything in DBD.
0 -
-don't use GeForce Experience overlay sharpen filter over Nvidia Control panel sharpen as it uses more resources.
-don't unlock your framerate past 120, as when you go 144 165 + (anything much over 120) it bugs the game out and you will start to get stuttering (will look like internet lag in game)
-to disable AA as of a few patches ago in Engine.ini you need replace [/Script/Engine.RendererOverrideSettings] with [/Script/Engine.GarbageCollectionSettings]
so
[/Script/Engine.GarbageCollectionSettings]
r.DefaultFeature.AntiAliasing=0
0 -
it doesnt work for : r.DefaultFeature.AntiAliasing=0 they blocked the file
0 -
u can't do anything anymore.
0 -
did they just do it? i haven't played since Tuesdays patch but it worked on the weekend.
0 -
Meeh, not a great solution. Now it just looks grainy or oversharped and the performance impact is even bigger.
1 -
yeah, I didnt noticed that there is a requirement. It's probably only sharpness & color that works on DbD :( even tho it looks a tiny bit better, but probably not due to the lower AA

//wrong label on 2nd setting: its with AA/AF but 0% sharpening

just tried it with NVCP image sharpen turned on, things still look a lot less blurry then default.
better to over sharpened then have a blurry blob of a mess imo
2 -
Here is what I did

I’m happy that more people are trying out these filters. It doesn’t provide much of an advantage against the vast majority of players but it is a huge nerf to Blendettes who take advantage of muddy textures and the vaseline filter the game naturally has.
Now the survivors bold enough to run golden Ace or bright Meg dont get tunneled as much just because Blendette crouched against a wall and the killer cant see her.
1 -
Nice.
Now watch the devs remove DBD as a supported game from Nvidia Geforce like Escape From Tarkov because THAT MAKES A LOT OF SENSE.
1 -
It is still ugly, they need to give us the option to turn it OFF, I hate having to use filters to fix those issues
0 -
Thanks to this, i'm currently having no problems running Dead by Daylight.
Many thanks!
2 -
yeah that's the best solution, until then, this is how I could help the community. Since they forced anti aliasling because of a post I made saying how bad hairs looked like, it has got to this point by my fault.
0 -
They shouldn't have changed the hairs in first place, this is their fault not yours dude
1 -
I'm assuming they were trying to optimize the hair but somehow overlooked the fact that it looked horrible without anti-aliasing. Upon this realization, they didn't revert the hair changes but instead forced AA on all settings. People, like myself, were forced to edit the engine.ini file to remove the AA. And now they've disabled that. Nipped it in the bud.

How are you devotion 21? The hell
0 -
7.3k hours, I play a lot, got no life xD
0 -
I'm "Just" at 12 and I already thought I had no life. Man you crazy lol
0 -
They need to bring the old hair back, and turn off the AA, I swear that I haven't seen one person who liked this change yet
2 -
Good god all those screenshots look so ugly.. #########?
Reshade is 10x better than Freestyle.
No need to set read-only on ini files.. I'll never understand why every single guide or how-to says to do this, it's idiotic and that's being kind.
1 -
As I said, that is needed in case you accidentally change thevin-game settings. Setting it as read only, will make the game unable to edit the file
0 -
In the same menu, try enabling morphological anti-aliasing instead. It should work with DX11 and I noticed a stark different already.
1 -
I really don't why people are complaining about AA. I can barely tell a difference.
This seems like 100% placebo effect. Is it worth this trouble to make something across the map 10% sharper? Can you NOT tell it's a gen?
Like yea it sucks they took out this option but people are acting like it's the Pokemon TV show first season and they are getting seizures when Pikachu does Lightning Bolt. IT IS NOT THAT BIG OF A DEAL.
0 -
Let me give an example. Valve released an update for CS:GO many moons ago, back when it was not free to play. It introduced FXAA, which is very similar to TAA post processing anti-aliasing, the type of AA we're complaining about. Now I used to play CS. FXAA enabled by default one day after an update and I noticed my game had some sort of blur on it for some reason. Ah, there it is -- FXAA in the Video settings. Turned it off in the settings and was back to normal. Any competent CS player did the same. Now I did use AA in that game, but was not forced to. I used MSAA at 4x or something. This AA is not a post processing effect (not a hint of a blur) but can hinder performance greatly, depending on your system specs. Us DBD players just want the option to be able to disable this post processing AA. If they give more options, great!
P.S. I typically leave post processing AA on in singleplayer games but sometimes I don't. Big no no in multiplayer titles, imo.
2nd P.S. I am in no way comparing DBD to a twitch shooter. I'm comparing settings and nothing more.
1 -
not a big deal?
