Trapper Perks and Tips

Hey! I’m quiet new to the game, (I know, I’m so late) I’m just wondering as a trapper what perks are the absolute best for him to have. I like to carry 2 traps at the start of the game to help set up my 3 gen rotation, but I still seem to be getting gen rushed. Any tips would be great especially ones that main the trapper who are around rank 5 to 1. Thanks guys.

Trapper is quite rare in the higher ranks, but Ill be more than happy to help a new member of the fold.

I assume you dont have any DLC and Trapper is the first killer youve started leveling. Now, as you progress in your DBD life, youll get access to powerful perks and addons. As for right now, I would use NOED (thats Hex: No One Escapes Death) and Deerstalker. Bitter Murmurs and Unrelenting are a nice set of training wheels as well.

Also, be sure to trap powerful loops and frequented areas, but dont trap in plain view of a survivor.

Corrupt is a must-have perk at this point for Trapper or else he's hopeless, as well as any bag. I like to run the yellow bag and a trap setting add-on. Anything that can speed up the time spent not interacting with survivors. He's honestly a pretty difficult killer to play well, despite having an "easy" difficulty. Otz is a good Trapper main, plays him a lot on stream and has a metric ton of Trapper videos on his channel so that would be a good place to start. He also talks and plays at the same time, often saying exactly what's going through his head while he plays which could be helpful.

Edit: ...and I totally forgot to actually link his channel:

I'm not ranked highly but enjoy playing trapper, best tip I could offer is trapping pallets/windows can be good (but obvious) often trapping where the survivor goes next after interacting with them like nearby corners is better.

My Trapper currently uses Beast of Prey, Barbecue and Chili, Distressing and Discordance.

I play survivor and trapper evenly so I just put traps down in the same paths I would walk as a survivor. Does that place look suspiciously safe? Put a trap there.

...but not too many. Try to make sure you're in chases a lot and not just setting up a mine field while the survivors are all free to work on gens.

Corrupt seems hyper important for him, trying to play trapper with nothing to cover his early game or any gen slowdown perks is nigh impossible as half the gens will be ready to pop before trapper gets any actual map pressure.

Never listen to this man. He is using some of the worst perks in the game unironcially.

If you want to play trapper at red ranks (1-4), you are best off camping the basement with him. You need to get people down there early, and kill them on their first hook. You do this by trapping all 3 entrances to the basement.

You will need a trapper bag at all times, and dark traps (tar bottle), or kill traps (honing stone) to really get use out of them against good players.

You need agitation, iron grasp to extend your basement reach. Corrupt intervention to give yourself a minute or two to set up the traps. The 4th perk is up to you, I personally like using monitor and abuse to be able to stealthily set up the traps at the start of the game. A chase perk like bamboozle or enduring would also work if you want to abandon trapping people and just attempt to run them down with M1's. But then again why play trapper at that point?

Your games are going to go lightning fast. Find the basement, get traps near pallets that are close to the basement, and patrol it until someone steps in one. Get them down there and seal them in.

That's as good as trapper is going to get at high ranks unless you have a ~ton~ of hours on trapper and can lay down some extremely nasty traps and know how to patrol near them.

Being a Survivor main when I started to play the game then now become a Trapper main, I can confirm @Zaitsev 's loadout is good for starter killer.

Later you can replace Deer stalker to Nurse calling: the most easiest Survivor tracking perk. You just injuring more, dont have to down Survivors, they will lead you to other Survivors later.

This is about how your average trapper game should look at high ranks, salt and everything.

There is no time to play nice with a mediocre killer.
