Responses to 'gg'?
I need some positivity! Let's share wholesome messages we have gotten or responses to things we have said!
I'm posting this because I will send 'gg' and other respectful messages to Killers so long as it was well-played game (clear effort, no face camping, no hook slashing or tea bagging, and frankly no moris). What I get in response are often some of the most vile messages... "Whatever c*nt" and "gg f*g" were the two gems of tonight thus far. I just do not understand.
And to clarify something, I have never tea bagged anyone in this game. Not once. I believe keys are just the Survivor's mori, and though I see mori's about 1/3 of the game I have never used a key except to complete the "Escape with a key 2 times" challenge in the last Rift.
I also thought that perhaps 'gg' sounded sarcastic and so I started taking the time to write, "Well played game! :)" and "Ty for the gg!" and I still get called a c*nt and a b*tch. It's just a game, I know, I try to just laugh it off, but as someone who always tries to post really positive messages in the forums and has been sending upbeat messages in the game because of seeing PS4 Killers say that Survivors are toxic and they feel poorly... It just sucks.
So let's laugh about it together! And as always... Happy gaming, all! <3

I just just say gg back.
It's when they add the ez or something else that things get spicy. A good go to comeback of mine is to point out that I earned more BP than them. As killer that usually is the case and it gets them to start rambling

Thank you for your response! <3 I actually just edited my message though because I realized it might sound like I was looking for hot takes to send back to people. 🤣What I was actually trying to get was positive stories.
I am sorry to hear that you get 'gg ez' and other troll-like messages. Hang in there and stay positive and hopefully it will have a ripple effect and at least counter some of the negativity that people see so often. <3

This game is really good at bringing out the frustration in people. I don't as a rule get mad at stuff but at times this game has been so bullshit that I literally felt my vein threaten to burst in rage.
So I'm not surprised it brings out the worse of people on console. This game has always had a very...nearly ultra sweaty competitive atmosphere due to the assyemtric style, time sensitivity, balancing issues, rng map placement and most importantly the "win harder" nature of it. As a rule both survivors and killers know that once a certain momentum is gained or lost the match is less over and we're all clawing the last points we can get.
I used to be a part of the fighting game community and DBD puts their salty, toxic, comeptitive nature to shame. It's a whole new ballgame.
What you are trying to do is good though, so don't let them get to you. But sadly this is the nature of the game. It don't help the game is sort of unfinished after all this time. We're still chasing around the same pallets and valuts with no new hiding interactables or items since launch.

People say gg?
I haven't seen it in months.
Entitlement has gone through the roof and matches aren't feeling fair enough for a gg.
2 -
Due to the time consuming process to message people on console, I prefer to give props since it's faster.
Another thing, depending on their maturity, some people like to take GG as Git Gud instead of Good Game. I tend to write out the entire phrase to prevent such things from happening! 😋

I think GG feels patronizing if you got particularly stomped in a match or it was genuinely a bad game for either or both sides. I know when I play survivor and a killer employs camp/tunnel tactics or is a super heavy sweat with iridescents addons and a mori...GG does not feel like the way I would describe the game. It only highlights the disparity in our shared experience. LOL I tend to go with "Thanks for the match" and "Have fun in the fog". If someone seems new to the killer (since I play more survivor) or specifically says they are, I will tell them they did a good job.
If they were a nightmare though, I have no issue telling them that as well. 😂

I only msg a GG if i really mean it. Mostly after long and/or super-close games.

Same i only get a gg if i send one

I say ggwp to all non-toxic opponents, no matter what side I play. I get more frustrated when I lose as a Killer than I do when I lose as a Survivor, but even then, I'll say gg as long as everyone played well.
Heck, sometimes, when I feel it's not a SWF and someone takes me on a world tour of the map, I'll only two hook them (if I can) and let them escape for the fun time, as long as they're not clicky clicky while t-bagging or pointing during the whole time.
If you're toxic, and tunnel from the start, hit me while I'm on hook, camp from 4-5 gens, and I somehow escape, I'll say usually won't wait to see the result of the match.
If I see any salt in chat, I will say ggez.
If I die on hook because my teammates turned into potatoes that are growing in bushes across the map, I just move on to the next match while praying their next poop is painful.

I Just say gg back but everyone is dam toxic in this community

Recently, I got a few messages from fellow survivors that I was a very good looper and very good at distracting the killer for 4 gen straight. I guess so, i just got very lucky.
2 -
Most of the time it's either I just say "gg" whether or not the other players say it, and then I just instantly leave, or if somebody says "gg" and it was an awful game, I'll just say "lol good one"
0 -
I usually say gg but if i get dominated seeing it just irritates me.
1 -
Do props show? I thought that props was an empty feature that the devs said would one day do something? If it shows then lots of people get props from me and I've never gotten any. LOL Or at least I don't know where to look to see if I've gotten any.
I have started to do it pretty frequently because the general consensus from Killer mains is that they see a lot of toxicity from Survivors. Survivors feel it from Killers too, of course, and so when I'm a Killer I send supportive messages as well.
Even if the game wasn't really good, but I can tell the other team tried, I will applaud them. I think that's especially important with the current matchmaking situation. If I stomp on a level 18 Killer that's super not fair and I want to tell them it was a good game and to hang in there because I want people to stay in this community and not get discouraged. :)

When I see gg I always assume they are telling me
That's why I trust no one good game doesn't exist only git gud cause if you die you didn't play well if you didn't 4k you failed it's why I don't say anything to anyone

A good game can still be played and I could have lost. And I could have done a good job still and had smart plays, good chases, etc. But yes, I thought 'gg' might be the wrong message which is why I said that I started typing longer messages as to clear this up.

You are right gg is bad especially if your tilted and feel cheated.(not saying you were just saying you feel that way,)
You walk up to a person you don't know having a bad day and tell them hey you did good today and see how they take it.
Especially if they feel cheated

"I need some positivity! Let's share wholesome messages we have gotten or responses to things we have said!"
I think this thread has been misunderstood which is no doubt due to English not being my first language. Thank you everyone for your responses, it's good to see that people are still posting 'gg' and encouraging others! 😍
Let's share particularly kind and awesome messages we have gotten lately!
I haven't gotten a nice one lately but I do fondly remember once as Survivor I sent a message along the lines of, "Very fun game, thank you!" and the Killer took the time (on a PS4 no less!) to say that I had given him the hardest chase he'd had in a long time and that I'd made some very smart plays. He ultimately got a 4k but had still praised my skill which honestly made me feel very, very happy! I had just come back from a long hiatus from the game so it was heartwarming to hear that I could still give someone a run for their money. ^_^

If i'm a survivor and didn't die super early on, since sometime it happens. In that case i will go look for the next game, since i haven no idea when the current game will end. Now if i make it to the end or near the end. I will stick around, post gg before heading off to the next game. Killer, yeah i always go gg. Since well as killer, i will always be there for the whole match. Which killer sometimes none of the survivors replies, i figure they want just wanna go onto the next game. Other times i see some ggs. That and sometimes on both sides, you get a nice little back and forth. Like everyone survivor and killer agreeing, it sucks when dead hard fails to work. That or just going wow, that was an amazing shot huntress.
Yeah had some nice chats with the killer as a survivor in the post game chat. Even some nice friendly chat with the survivors as the killer.

I just send ggs,wp regardless of how the other side played. Unless I for example just stomped a soloQ team in 3 mins, then I won't say it. Or if I get stomped as a surv in a soloQ team in 3 mins,I won't say it either :F

Well, my life is better now when I decided to close the end game chat :D
Sometimes I didn't even want to play because I'm not a professional player yet, and seeing all those toxic comments was really frustrating.

If they send a gg

“gg” gets confused with git gud as others have said so whenever I say it I make sure to say gg’s :) or gg <3 but not often because ps is a hassle to send messages so whenever you get a nice message it means more lol
0 -
Either say GG or nothing as a direct response, there's honestly no point going "actually... it was BG!" if you ask me.
And no matter how the match went I just assume people say it because it has been the go-to polite thing to say after a match for what, decades at this point? If someone wants to be paranoid and worry that someone "actually meant git gud" or is saying it ironically or something that just seems pointless to me.
This isn't a game where stuff like ggez is moderated afterall. When you can say ggez and tell people they're garbage without getting banned, someone that wants to be a jerk is going to make it crystal clear the vast majority of the time.

I got a 4 man SWF, 1 key that I didn't see and 2 flashlights, Feng, Ash, Meg and Bill, Bill """"looped"""" me for 4 gens in 2 minutes, then my Noed came in clutch, and I downed and slug Bill, I was exchanging downs for like 5 minutes, BECAUSE BILL WASTED ALL THE PALLETS, sadly, BOTH of the gates where by an infinite, the Rancid Abattoir infinite, literally the most broken infinite, at the end, i had a 2k at least... SIKE, the two that were slugged get hatch and the other ones escape.
I sent "gg" to all of em, 2 were good sportsmanship, and even apologized for gen rushing, the other two replied to me "scrub", the two that got the hatch... what a surprise... I killed them with "says the key user..."
This has happened to me 9 times in the last 2 days, the community is sooo toxic and entitled these days...

Here's how I see it:
"gg" is an abbreviation. From my point of view, this is what you use when you want to save time and/or space. In other words: From my point of view you use something like that if you want to save time and/or space while keeping the same intention. If you get the impression that you are no longer worth someone else's time, then the other person can also save those shortcuts.
So I don't not answer to abbreviations.
If I had a nice run with others and was the killer player, then it looks like this for me:
I: Thank you for your time. I hope you had as much fun as I did. I wish you a nice evening, night (whatever).
There are usually some nice conversations going on.
To be fair, I have to admit that as a killer I put more emphasis on hunting than killing.
I try to count how often someone has been on the hook, don't always go after the injured person, give fair chances and opportunities to generate many blood points for everyone.

GG if it was a good game. Otherwise, say nothing and move on to the next match.
1 -
Nothing. I don't open the chat after a game. I just look at my points and go on.
1 -
I personally send gg wp all at the end of any game, it just seems to be a more wide-reaching branch of positivity than just a "gg"
0 -
I always give the killer a gg, or an added wp if he was very good.
When playing killer though I just got fed up with all the t-bagging at exit gate, the "easy" messages when trying to learn Nurse and all the toxic survivors in general. So I disable messages when playing killer and I'm not the Mr nice guy killer anymore.
0 -
I rarely say GG to people as I'm always a little worried they'll see it as sarcastic (or evidently as seen in this thread, I guess some people see it as Git Gud).
If I get messaged GG, I'll GG back but if I'm going to send a message, it's actually usually to someone who played exceptionally well (a Bill I was chasing was damn good at chases and I felt bad because he ended up getting killed in the end from the one hook because his potato team either died or in the last person's case, just abandoned him so I messaged him that he was damn good at chases and didn't deserve the end he got) or if there is a killer who is clearly struggling (I messaged a Nurse player yesterday and just said "GG, Nurse is a tough one to play as"; try to give them a little encouragement) or does something really good. I've also messaged survivors that went above and beyond on my team to save me (or if I royally ######### up and got them killed for it).
I don't send messages often since it is kind of a pain on the Xbox to send something but if I send a message, I am always specific in my message to give them encouragement or a compliment.

Ah when one toxic community I love invades all the others.
0 -
I usually get a lot of toxic messages even when some aren't deserved. But sometimes I do get the nice ones 🙂
1 -
As long I don't have to wait for too long until everyone is outI always type at least gg. It's a sportsmanlike thing. If I lose or not.
When someone is shittalking I just type: ok/np. Because I couldn't care less about how others feel about me and the game.
1 -
Usually if I see that one specific guy is playing extra well, I'll tell him that and give him props, which most of the time is a Nurse who is good at her but doesn't use Add-Ons as well, especially those people will get my respect.
Normally I write gg if I feel there is reason to.

I pretty much always say "GG everyone" even if I stomped or got stomped. A game being one-sided doesn't mean it was "bad". Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.
That said, survivors almost literally never have anything nice to say. Absolute best case is they say nothing at all. Usually it's just complaints about literally everything I did, or "trash killer lol" if anyone escaped.
I'm at the point where I'm just turning chat off, because there's no upside to it. Even if I compliment someone on a good play, they just come back with salt or insults. Even if I give the last person hatch, or down everyone after the gates open, but carry them all to the gate just because I'm feeling nice, it's salt and rage in the chat after about how I was a noob or I "camped" or "tunneled" or killer OP or whatever else.
So meh. Useless to even attempt to interact with other players, honestly.

Teasing us with shirtless Myers huh

Killers only gg when they win and survivors only gg when they escape.

Before I privated my account, I did get and send pleasant messages.
There are a few that apologized for not being able to save me, the GG's after a long game and I got 1 voice message where my teammate expressed how happy he was having me as a teammate.
I always am positive back to messages like this. I've sent some GG's and thank you's here and there.
Can't say I've never teabagged before. I've done it either due to peer pressure (if I play swf) or because either me or a teammate got tunneled the entire game and make it out alive somehow.
Also teabagging along with a Ghostface is the most fun thing in the game :D
Sometimes I crouch, uncrouch twice to say thank you or hello (or just to see Bunny Feng's ears flop), but now that I think of it, that might be seen as teabagging.
Eh.
P.S. if the Claudette from a few games ago reads this, I'm sorry if it looked like I was throwing/BM'ing, but my skill checks were invisible and so I "missed" everything. (Pretty good job so far. Yes, I made a bug report)

Agreed. I stopped saying anything at all. I just leave.

Well I am the exception to your rule.

yesterday i had a really good chase against a huntress and before i said anything in endchat she said 'gg nea!' @ me, I felt so validated and just replied 'oh thank you! love you have a wonderful next game.' all it takes to get me in a good mood tbh 💗
i always try to keep a wholesome mindset if the killer's been respectful and hope that they reciprocate, which is a lot to ask sometimes. but it helps to remind myself a good game for me might've been a failure to them, and they might just be feeling bad about themselves and need to lash out. there are definitely games where I can tell the killer just didn't have a chance, so instead of saying gg i'll try to sympathize with what went wrong. whether it was busted matchmaking or a ######### map any killer would've struggled with or a totem spawn in broad view, anything to let them know i know it wasn't their fault and it's not a reflection of their skill that they lost.
slurs however just earn a quick report from me, then I leave without a word. that doesn't deserve to be treated like a criticism, it doesn't deserve to be validated with a response at all imo.
