    Usually they're just Rank 2s.

    You're too late; someone already posted a screenshot of 4 Rank 1 Survivors facing a Rank 20 Killer.

    Don't worry, this is still pretty good though.

    Jokes aside here's the explanation:

    Rank based matchmaking happens at first, but the longer it takes to find a nearby match the more willing the game is to accept ranks far outside the scope of the rest of the players.

    This is further increased if the lobby had all five players and one or more back out at the last second.

    And so voila: 4 Rank 1s vs a Rank 10!
