True cause of wacky and laggy hits?

Hi everyone! I was playing DbD yesterday and I had a couple games where there were some pretty suspicious hits on my screen: https://i.imgur.com/loJ9SSK.mp4 and https://i.imgur.com/OB8EJV1.mp4

I really didn't think too much of it until the killer on the first game said "jajajaja". I immediately clicked on their profile to reveal the fact that they lived in Ecuador.

The problem here is that I live in Eastern United States. Ecuador is obviously a long ways away, so I was pretty annoyed that I had been matched with someone who probably didn't have good internet and lived nearly 3000 miles away from me!

The second game, after that Deathslinger harpoon through the wall, I immediately went and checked their profile as well. This time.... Columbia! Almost 3000 miles away as well!

Trying to connect to another player almost 3000 miles away is not going to be good for your ping or latency, or allow for a healthy match in general. And I really think this is the problem, as I have been connected to many Killers in the past who are far outside of the United States, and I always have problems in those games with being hit in impossible situations and the like.

A simple fix would be to implement a matchmaking ping limit in the options. This way you could prevent being paired with people who are far outside your country and keep latency issues down to a minimum! And I personally don't care if it takes even longer to get matched as Survivor with ping limiting.... I believe the number of bogus hits would go down significantly, and it would be worth it to me.

Have any of you observed this as well, getting matched against Killers or Survivors whom you probably shouldn't be seeing in your games?
