Bought DBD for my wife on the Switch. I already realized how much of a poor performer it was but she was fine with that.

She has never DC’ed from a game in her entire life. Whether you believe this or not does not change the reality of this. She just went against a PC hacking Legion and everyone DCed after being one hit downed by him from across the map.

So she thinks she will do the same and figured that she will be back in a game due to it taking 4 minutes just to load the end of the game all the way back to the menu again. Which it does.

Shes hit with a ONE HOUR ban. Explain that? Do you realize how many times she would of had to disconnect in a 24 hour period to hit that? Given shes never DCed before in the first place you can imagine how pissed we are right now.

So.. well played BHVR. You got the $39.99 this time. But, you will never get another cent from us or our extended family again.

And before the whole “it’s automated” bullshit is dropped in. So is Rank Reset and Thats flawless isn’t it?

If she got hit with a 1 hour ban, then she's dc'd more than once in a 24 hour period. The first 2 DC's are 5 minutes, 3rd is 15, 4th is 30 minutes and 5th is an hour.

Sorry that happened to you guys, I can understand how demoralising that must be. You're not the first to have claimed to have been given a disproportionate penalty for a single disconnection, and given the game's history I find it more plausible that the DC system has a bug in it somewhere than that you and all those other people are liars.

The best I can advise is to report it as a bug here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/bugs

I can't promise they'll do anything about it in the immediate future, but if your wife wants to be able to play normally again at some stage, that's the best way to bring the devs' attention to it so it can get fixed.

Maybe, but "I got banned for no reason, I've never done anything wrong ever!!" posts are pretty common in most any game. The natural response is generally skepticism.

    1 of 2 things happened.

1- your wife disconected more, or maybe someone else playing with the switch. In which case, there's no need to get angry at bhvr.

2- it's a bug. And you should probably consider never buying another game if that's your reaction to a bug, since every game has bugs. It's not like it stole your credit card info or deleted your progress or something serious like that, it's just a 1 hour ban.

Yes because clearly this ONE system that BHVR has written works flawlessly and never fails. Unlike hit boxes, rank reset, purchases, legacy skins, blood points or all the other stuff. But when it comes to the DC ban system? Nope. That’s flawless and there’s NO way it can fail, right?

    Idiots...

The amazing thing about reality is that no amount of disbelief or “it doesn’t add it” changes it. She played two games in the span of three days. And has never DCed before.

i hope I see you all respond to the “rank reset messed up my rank”, and “I was hit across the map” with “that doesn’t add up. It’s automated by the computer and can’t possibly fail.”

I clearly stated many times this is not my account. It doesn’t even matter but I have never DCed either. My attitude is irrelevant to this situation as I wasn’t even the one playing. We have different accounts. She has a Switch one that I don’t play. A PC one that she only plays. And I have a PC one.

So again, you’re purposefully refusing to read what I’ve written in order to maintain a specific perspective here. It’s quite easy to dismiss what one has said if it challenges your preconceived notions of what is right and wrong. And it’s what you’ve done this entire conversation. What I’m saying makes you feel uncomfortable internally, thus, you’re ignoring what I’m saying and injecting your own reality to remove that logical discomfort.

Yes, Doctor. Please offer me your professional opinion.

The fact is that you're about the ten millionth person in an online game to come to a forum, angrily complain about a ban and aggressively claim they did nothing wrong.

So yes, people will be skeptical.

I can't believe people are actually upset over 1-hour bans in 2020.... and why D/C against a suspected hacker? Just let yourself die on first hook.... I myself have never D/C'ed intentionally (only ever got disconnected one time due to my graphics card being seated improperly, causing my game to crash), even against bad connections and suspected cheaters.

So, instead of admitting that perhaps there is something wrong, you’d rather suggest the person complaining is somehow being untruthful? I suppose that is one way you could go. Or.. perhaps, the other way is to admit there just might be something wrong with the DC system. I know, that would be difficult to believe given BHVRs stellar record of creating bug free software.

Do switch players really get matched with PC? Or is there some PC-involved hack with the switch?

There is some way they are getting in. On Switch you cant have more than 10 characters in your username. It is impossible. But one match I saw more than that. I knew they were from elsewhere..I dont know what was involves, but that happened to me. But only once have I seen more than 10 characters.

This just happened again. She was playing, got Mori'ed by the killer and then the Ban system banned her again for an hour. Something is really wrong. How do I post to technical support about the switch? Is the Username in the Switch game good enough? I can't imagine it is, so there must be some other identifier I can use to ask them what is going on. It turns out she isn't even disconnecting and it is banning her. She's just getting killed. I'm wondering if the internet is dropping her when she gets to the Score Screen or something.

You're suggesting that one should not be upset at paying $40 for a game and then being told that you're locked out, all because of a 'bug'? While I realize that game communities in general have consistently been demanding less for their money, this game is still quite expensive on the Switch and literally being prevented from playing the game is not acceptable. The irony here is that DBD is the only game I've ever paid money for that has told someone playing it that they can't play, even if I'm not the one being told I can't play. So, you're right. I won't be spending money on games with issues like that. Good advice.

It was either A: a glitch, in which case not surprised, or B: she's DC'd when you weren't looking. unfortunately there ain't much you can do but report the bug on the forums and hope the devs see it. Best way for them too see it is tag them.
