Did I solve the next chapter's mystery?
I'm sorry for what comes next. I'll be that guy so nobody else has to make a thread like... This, but hear me out for a bit. You may be entertained.
Everyone seems to be hinging on the words "classic" and "mysterious survivor" from the dev announcement. Classic is pretty ambiguous and doesn't narrow much down, but the mysterious survivor part can make things a bit easier to figure out. The most common guess I've seen is Ellen Ripley from Alien, but I have a different suggestion for a very mysterious survivor, or rather three.
Henry, Wiliam or Michael. If you don't recognize these names yet, I'll stop beating around the bush.
Could the next license be Five Nights at Freddy's?
I stared at the teaser image for so long you can say I started seeing what I wanted to see. Zooming in on the skull I found myself thinking about an animatronic face and started connecting pieces together. (Kinda forcing them together really)
The gold hue of the number 4 can be interpreted as a nod to golden freddy or the color of text golden freddy uses in FNAF 4 (FOUR!).
You could say that FNAF isn't a "Classic," but I beg to differ. This game was actually so good people made 10 billion clones and the original came out 6 years ago. Such a memorable game should definitely be called a classic.
And this game definitely changed the way we see horror in video games. It made us wait in a room with nothing more than surveillance cameras and doors to protect ourselves from the threats that roamed the building.
As for a mysterious survivor, William Afton, Michael Afton or Henry would make for a survivor shrouded in a mystery, although William may end up being the killer himself.
If you don't think they will add video game killers, you should see the dev's latest livestream. Cote literally called out that they have Bill as a survivor. I wouldn't put a video game killer past them.
This is pretty farfetched as far as theories go, but I chose to be that guy to put my bet on this insane idea. If I'm wrong, be sure to come back to this thread and laugh at me. If you have any good reasons why this is not possible, let me know. I'd love to hear it.

I still don't understand stand how any license would be an emotional milestone. I believe the milestone comes from a development standpoint. It may be a new way they went about development or a way they have changed the entirety of the game.

It'd be a cool twist, especially given how it transformed the horror game genre but I doubt it will be in this particular instance. I'd expect it to be a lot older as far as things go for a "Classic". I doubt it'd be an emotional milestone either unless the four years by itself is milestone enough. It is an achievement to be proud by I suspect it's more leaning towards a liscence they've wanted for awhile. I'd love a FNAF chapter but I seriously doubt it'll be this chapter in particular.

Stuff that the devs personally have wanted for a long time would be an emotional milestone.
Like, anything made by Stephen King (a lot of the devs are fans of his), Jason Voorhees (who has had a standing invitation since, IIRC, Michael joined the roster), or something else that they've been eyeing for a long time.
This is assuming the emotional milestone isn't just that we're having a 4 year anniversary. Which is a definite possibility.

It's clearly jaws and Quint. The skull looking up at the 4 looks exactly like the jaws poster.

agreed. I have no doubt now.

You may be right, but I just can't see the emotional milestone being the license itself. There are any number of licenses that fit all the criteria given. I just wanted to put this out there to turn some heads and see if I end up actually being right.

I mean jaws is as iconic as they come, huge impact on horror, and serving on the uss Indianapolis doesn't get more mysterious. Generators are going to be on boats and you have to swim to get to them. Everywhere else, jaws swims in the dirt, like a proper land shark.

Honestly, I want you to be right, but the more I read into this, the more I just want to laugh hysterically.

Jaws would be pretty terrifying on the swamp, and hilarious in the corn.
Don't take this from me, is Quint!!

I refuse to back down. I already played my cards in the original post. I'm committed now.

The license or franchise is the most likely thing to have an "emotional" connection to the devs.
You say it could apply to any number of licenses... So it would be true if it was any of them. Why assume BHVR phrased it that way to somehow narrow down the possibilities?

It would honestly be pathetic if it was FNAF. Could be the first chapter I don't even buy.

Look into Imotep. The images for the Brendan Fraser movie (even the classic but I dont know a lot about that version).
The skull looking up looks like imotep dying at the end on the movie. Gold = Sand
Cat pictures devs put on twitter. Imotep doesnt like cats in the movie (well...till he regenerates).

They’re saving FIVE nights at Freddys for the FIFTH anniversary. Caps to help boost understanding.
