RESPECT

So I felt the need to say this after this last match where I played killer and one survivor literally verbally assaulted another survivor in chat with a slew of extremely inappropriate bannable words and yes it was reported by all of us with screenshots. I get people get upset, but its a game, some of the hate spewing out is just not acceptable and its what gives different communities bad names. Even playing the killer i was offended by what i saw being said about another player. Just leave chat if you are upset some of the things being said in chats are really bad. Respect each other.

    Toxified by Daylight

  • Usually I do just leave chat but this was REALLY BAD I have seen a lot of toxic comments in chat but these were beyond reprehensible literally attacking another race with bad names and then telling them to "go kill themselves" I have only seen that last part twice and ya we were all screenshotting away and I had OBS video running so also had it on video with profile. But im just even as killer I get a lot of heat when I play killer but to see that was just I hve no more words left for how bad it was. I lterally had to walk away from my computer then came back and found friend request from the survivor who got verbally attacked and I even apologized to her that she had to see that.

It's the COD crowd migrating around and by and large the community isn't toxic, we just remember the toxic times it is. Just report them post game and move on, and even though the devs say the report system isn't active. It's foolish to assume they're not actively reviewing that stuff and catching all the people who think they can be jerks in chat.

Respect is a privilage, not a right. That being said, I would love to see these screenshots too. Not because I am skeptical of your claim that someone was toxic in DbD, but just because I want to know which words should be bannable.

In my personal opinion, no word should be bannable. Only certain behavior, such as threats, doxxing, griefing and rage quitting.

Amazing what a human can type or say over the internet and comms when the spineless mother f'er knows damn well he or she would never do it face to face. Accountability is null and void all too often where it is needed most. Sad times. Of course im older than the internet lol

I know for a fact due to asking one of the mods on steam that telling someone to kill themselves or threats of bodily harm to them or family are bannable. Whether or not devs actually will ban them is another story

I sent them over to devs already, in order for me to post the screenshot son here I need to edit out player names due to name/shame rules which I think is a double standard but eh.

Funny how it seems that a majority of the hate filled speech comes from the survivor side.

How do you know these replies are coming from people who exclusively play survivors?

Because I rarely see killer mains use such hateful speech.

Sure, conversations get heated on both sides, but it always seems to be the survivors who issue death threats and things of that nature.

I agree. Most of the toxic comments come from survivors. Killers usually just leave.

You've obviously not played with the COD type killers then I've reported my share of them for some extreme stuff as well. To say that one side just usually leaves isn't true even though it's more likely to come from survivors. I've probably got some video and or screenshots somewhere of what I've sent to the devs.

I play killer and survivor at rank 1. Most of the hateful speech seems to come from the survivor side.

But that doesn't mean killers can't be guilty of it either. Both sides do it (survivors more so).

And for the record, I play with a lot of the same people. So, I know who's a survivor main and who's a killer main.

Next time leave the lobby if you are the killer and that will instantly mute the person.

  • My entire point of this post is that, I get playing this games can be frustrating sometimes on BOTH sides, but there is a person on the other end of that computer so words do have consequences. While they may not happen immediately, what goes around comes around. There is enough hate in this world we don't need more of it. Be good to each other, like my parents used to say, "if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all" Its not that hard at the end of the match to say GG whether you liked the match or not

Yeah this happened in a game where I played killer as well; I was feeling pretty good about the game. I hooked everyone at least twice, got lots of screams (hag on an indoor map when everything else is relatively quiet and enclosed can be scary) and 2 were kills and 2 people escaped. The second person to be killed just hit the other 2 survivors with a slew of abuse because they dared to leave while he was on his second hook. He actually gave justification for it, too....it was that he was the one that killed my Ruin totem....

Both of the people that escaped were on their last hook and I chased them together to the only exit that was currently open with both injured. And honestly even if that were not the case, who cares? You lost this one, buddy. Get a life (and some therapy) if it makes you that angry.

I just remember being completely floored, as I had never seen or heard anyone speak to anyone else like that before. It was kind of scary, to be honest. I mean....you can't be mentally stable if you get that angry at a game. I've gotten annoyed before when a survivor repeatedly unhooks me in front of the killer, but I usually just leave without a gg to anyone if I'm p***ed. I have never said anything to anyone else and usually I give a gg no matter what. I was so shocked that I immediately disconnected from the chat to stop the slew of verbal abuse and only realized afterwards that I should've reported him.
