Hatch encourages foul play
Honestly, I think hatch should be removed, but I'm 'stupid' for thinking that apparently. Instead, let's talk about the behavior caused by it being in the game.
A survivor can theoretically do nothing all game, wait for their teammates to die, and then get hatch. These instances aren't common, but they happen because hatch exists.
Toxic SWFs use the hatch as one of their many second chances so they can be toxic and not get punished for it. It's fine if their DS, BT, Adrenaline, Unbreakable doesn't save them. They still have keys and hatch to practically guarantee their escape.
"EZ" in the endgame chat because a survivor escaped through hatch when there were still 3 gens or so left to do.
Killers having to slug for the 4k. If killers can't be bothered to do this, they'll have to be content with a 3k because with hatch existing, a 4k is never guaranteed if they're killing the last 2 survivors normally.
Hatch camping doesn't happen often but it can happen. If hatch didn't exist, this wouldn't happen.
Now I don't think any of us like the above behaviors, unless we're the ones benefitting from it. If you think hatch is fine as is, you must also condone all of these behaviors.

Oh for pete's sake, leave the hatch alone. Its a non-issue bad team-member will be bad, toxic players will be toxic regardless. If we go down this rabbit hole we might as well delete the entire game
Because trust me there's way more toxic stuff in this game then a hatch. The hatch is healthy it provides last minute stakes and leads directly into a potential endgame collapse

The hatch is fine, it's keys that are the problem. It's fine if the last survivor finds the hatch before you. You don't need a 4k every game. however, keys letting multiple survivors escape before they otherwise could, hurts both survivors (that are left behind), and killers.

If I have a killer that's just slugging or tunneling people off first hook to mori for 4k when no one has been toxic - the killer is just upset from previous match or just wants 4k - I hope one of my teammates is able to escape to prevent the 4k.
If I have a teammate that's basically the mvp of the match I want them to be able to escape because they deserve it.
If I'm killer and I see someone that's doing all the work but their team was potatoes I want them to have way to escape because it sucks they got matched with crap - they deserve the extra hatch points too.
Removing hatch (or anything else) because you're upset with end game chat is not a good reason - just ignore the chat and move onto the next round. Removing hatch (or anything else) for things that are "not common" and "doesn't happen often" are not good reasons.

I say have the hatch spawn CLOSED after the 3rd sacrifice, that way keys still have a place (whether it should is another convo) and hatch is not always an issue every game. Start EGC at this time to to prevent games being held hostage. This has usually been a well received proposal.

Honestly, these threads are KILLING me.

The only 'stakes' it can lead to is a survivor getting an escape when they really should have lost. The 'endgame excitement' hatch creates is beneficial only to the survivors and never the killer. And that's why it hasn't been removed.

Remember when keys were a "limited time item"? Turns out the devs will even break their promises to appease the survivor fanbase.

That's what I'm saying. At least change it because how it is right now is not good.

Are you telling me it should be illegal for survivors to have a second chance at escaping? By that logic the game should end for killers when all the generators are done "He failed his objective"
The gate phase is the killer's lost shot at hooking the remaining survivor(s) and their final obstacle towards escaping. The hatch is an integral balanced element removing it because it "benefits survivors" is biased and hypocritical thinking

I guess we've all got our biases then. Put hatch in any other 1v# game, and nobody would buy it. It would be laughed at. In CS:GO, if someone is the last person on the team, why do they get an RNG chance to win for free? The gate phase at least makes sense because the generators running is required to power the gates. A random trap door spawning on the ground somewhere just because 1 survivor is left makes zero sense. Doesn't matter if zero gens have been done or if 4 survivors escape through it with a key. "It's completely balanced." What a joke.

I don't see it appeasing the survivor fanbase. Survivors that use keys to escape leave their teammates behind to fend for themselves. One game i was in, there were three of us left, then two used a key to escape, leaving me alone. I don't like keys as survivor or killer.

You realize Counter-Strike and Dead By Daylight are such dramatically different and opposing games they can't even be compared to in the slightest right? DBD is a asymmetrical 1v4 game the other is a first person shooter with player counts that range from a dozen to a whole boat load of people
So yeah you are right it would be dumb to have that because the game was never made around it. CS is a dramatically different game in a COMPLETELY different genre, its like comparing Chess to Tetris at this point Its irrelevant and completely meaningless
So yes the hatch as it works in DBD jammed into another game would be terrible because you are taking something wholesale from one genre and cramming it into another. Additionally it is quite clear the hatch is not a deal-breaker considering how profitable this game has been for years
The current hatch system is fine. To complain about it in its current state, especially when you come at it from a point that survivors somehow have less of a right to win then killers and making up excuses to justify that argument is just suspicious

Keys are silly, the hatch itself is fine. To some extent replacing it with instant EGC just shifts the randomness to the map the match took place on and the locations of the gates, I personally prefer a more first-come-first-serve solution. Both survivors and killers can find it in advance or get lucky, and DBD is by no means a game that has some sort of issue with luck and rng.
No kill or escape should ever be "guaranteed" unless the killer sacrificed or killed someone, or the survivor actually escaped from the match. Until the kill or escape is secured the player in question doesn't have any sort of valid "claim" to the kill or escape in question.

All I want is survivor DC husks (Body stays in Dying State until it bleeds out, or is hooked and sacrificed/mori'd) so SWF can't DC to give hatch.

You kind of have to have the hatch tbh. Say if it was so that there was 1 survivor left, and there wasn't a hatch, that survivor would have to do all the gens and open a gate alone, undetected the entire time. Back in the say this was kinda the case since the hatch only spawned when 3 gens was left, meaning if there was 4 or 5 then that last survivor had to complete gens. Most of the time, they would instead just skulk around, and as many people would agree, if a survivor wants to be hidden and has no interest in gens, theyre pretty damn hard to find
Hatch purely just means a match ends, and gives the last survivor a reason to actually try. Only issue with it is keys, but i can't be arsed to get into that can of worms
