Regarding your refusal to ban on platforms that aren't DBD...
what about players who do this #########?
Note: I do not intend to circumvent the profanity filter in any way, shape, or form.
Posting '(censored so I won't circumvent the profanity filter)' on your Steam profile after the game so that you can't get them reported in-game?
I think it's BHVR's responsibility to take action against users who play their game and leave such horrific comments such as "(same as above)" on someone's profile due to being toxic in BHVR's own game.
I need a mod or staff response - is it or is it not your responsibility to take reports regarding comments on players Steam profiles regarding or originating from Dead By Daylight games?
Because if it isn't, then it should be. Doing this literally circumvents the report feature, and it's always done a few minutes after a game ends so we have no chance of reporting it in the game.
If telling a user to kill themselves in the game can get them banned, but telling users to kill themselves by posting on their Steam profile after the game ends isn't, then what is the point of having a report feature?
inb4 "set your profile to private", that isn't my point. My point is someone posted on my profile and told me to kill myself because they lost in a Dead By Daylight match.

@Judgement It saddens me that you had to deal with such toxicity. I advise you try using @ followed by a moderator's name to call one directly. Try @Peanits

Not like being told to kill myself affects me that much, but it can affect people with a suicidal history or tendencies, and it's just a horrible thing to say to a person.
It makes it even worse that posting it on your Steam profile means they are potentially untouchable by BHVR because they didn't do it in the game.
Since @not_Queen was part of the livestream, I'd like to tag her as well. Maybe she can give more insight as she brought the topic up on the livestream.0 -
Well Steam reporting is fairly simple, just go to their profile and click on the down arrow next to their name.2

Actually, steam takes care of harassment on their platform that doesnt happen ingame

I too am a bit concerned by this, its true that we can't expect BHVR to act as the police and moderate platforms they do not control. However would it be too much to ask to work with the platforms (Steam, PS, xbox) to properly manage things like this? It's not a unique problem to DbD, but I do think that the mechanics of the game, in having this "Killer vs Survivor" setup both in game and in the community (That is one of the best things about it tbh.) Also multiplies toxicity hugley, and leads to much more of what OP posted.
We get that its a third party, but anything you can do to try and cut this stuff out is a positive, people like this should not be a part of this community.

Seeing as it's not done in game I guess you'd report them to Steam instead. Makes sense to me.

I don't know about you, but I'm pretty sure any toxicity originating from Dead By Daylight should be BHVR's concern.
The fact that they're ignoring toxicity on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media and alternative platforms is bewildering. This toxicity comes from BHVR's game, and they're refusing to acknowledge or punish it if it doesn't happen in the game.0 -

If you are being threatend in italy, you go to the police in italy and not the one from your country.
I agree with ingame toxicity tough, but I guess at this point its actually a "feature" of DBD that sells very well

Don't accept friend requests from trolls and don't allow randoms to post comments on your profile problem solved. BHVR are not responsible for steam chat or anything steam related outside of the game.BHVR are not responsible, nobody is saying they are. What they are responsible for, and what they could take a vested interest in for the good of the community are two different things.

Heyo.
So the problem here is that it's impossible to enforce to begin with. Steam is the obvious exception because the game is tied to their account, so it's very easy to say, "Yes, this guy did this." But when it spills out into Twitch streams, social media, DMs, etc. it becomes very hard to prove. At best, we could only come up with a weak tie to their account, and that can easily be faked to frame someone else. Even Steam isn't solid because someone with half a brain could just use an alt account to do their smacktalking and we'd have (almost) no way to tell who's who.
In short, we don't want to falsely ban people because we think the person being a dick is them.
In cases where someone's posting on your Steam profile, I would suggest blocking them, deleting their comments, and reporting them to Valve. Valve can see more about what's going on in their platform than we can, so if someone's using alt accounts to harass people for example, they might be able to tie that back to another account.
