Crouching past the PH trails

I was disappointed when i found out what you can just cross the trails by crouching. I thought that this ability will be a new interesting feature and it can be used as zoning tool leaving survivor a choice to run around a trail or get affected by Torment. You spend your time to leave trails and it will result in either survivors spending time to bypass it, or get Tormented. I mean it will just let PH put you into cage if he gets you. Its not like Exposed status effect its not that punishing. There is no point in wasting time to cross the map with trails if only chased survivors may have a chance to run into that. Do you think its justified?

Yup it’s justified, drop the trail down when a survivor loops you.

    Easy.

It IS a zoning tool. Zig zag it at a loop and the survivor will either get hit by you or get hit with torment.

I like it both thematically and mechanically: you always CHOOSe whether you end up Tormented, but sometimes the choice is between gaining torment and being hit. I do also point out that people who are trying to hold sprint burst 99'd can't cross a trail, as an example, without ending up with it readied (and thus unable to run).

I've played PH a lot and I really am comfortable with the power level of the trails (also using them in chases is so so powerful, you WILL end up tormented or hit, that's the only choice).

Every ability must have a counter.

I use it in 2 ways, neither as zoning tools.

    • Placing in hard to see locations such as by windows, tall grass, on corn, ect
    • Using while a survivor is looping me

First method gets me random torments and general location of survivors sometimes. Second one is a good way to make chases/loops easier.

I understand what this ability is effective when someone is looping you. But thats boring. I thought at first what you can use it outside of a chase to deny some objectives, pathways forcing survivors to bypass the trails etc. Look at Plague: she can infect the generator and survivor have a choice to wait out the infection or go somewhere else or get infected. In my opinion Broken status effect is far more threatening than Torment. Besides youll need to invest much more time to complete a circle around a generator as PH than puke on it from distance as Plague. That would create a new interesting playstyle, not just this boring "use trails at loops when chasing". I get it what trails lasts twice as long as infection, but as i said you spend more time and status effect is less threatening. Maybe it would be cool to add rare/ultra-rare addon what makes trails unpassable with crouch, but Trail Elements last less seconds, if people think that base-kit this would be OP. This would make PH much more interesting killer.

What do you think about it?

Kinda agree. It should be an area deny ability that doesn’t even punishes you much. You take the torment and the other survivors can cross through the trench in safety.

OK am i really the only one who is so bothered about it? I really think im going to pass on the DLC just for this sole reason. I watched a lot of streams and PH gameplay already looks so dull and boring. Find someone, draw trail around the loop, kill him through the wall, hook, rinse and repeat. Nobody is even trying to use trails when they are not in the chase. Because everyone know what this is pointless and a waste of time since survivors can just crouch through it. Damn im just so frustrated about how this little imperfection is the only thing what separates PH from being fun and indeed unique killer.
