Hi - I just came across this game and excited to try this out with a friend. We have nintendo switches but wanted to confirm a detail before purchasing. Can we both play on our own or would we need to have random people join our game each time? or can it be two people and the computer plays the killer? just curious- thanks so much!!

In regular matches, there are always 4 survivors and one killer. Each of them is played by a human.

YOU can team up with your friend (survive with friends) but if its not a 4-man group, you'll be paired up with other random people. There is a matchmaking system that takes care of that (though it could be fairer).

YOU can also play as killer.

The usual game is played in a 1v4, meaning there is 1 Killer and 4 Survivors. You can play together as a Survive with Friends, however, you will have 2 random Teammates joining you.

There is also the option of a custom game, this can be done without any other people. However, with 2 Players, this means there is 1 Killer and 1 Survivor, so this will not really work out.

Ah got it- so we will always be paired with random people, no computer players. got it - thank you so much. And is this fun on nintendo switch? many thanks!

I cannot say anything for Switch, but others probably can. I play on PC and have fun with this game, on both sides.

They also announced that there will be Crossplay in the future (PC/Switch/PS4/XBox One).

The only problem I've heard of with Switch is that it's by far the least-played platform so the queue times are not great. However, we have received confirmation that crossplay with other platforms should be added within the next seven months, so the queue times issue should improve dramatically when that happens if you're willing to wait a little while.

I play almost daily on the switch and in my region the queue times are fine. Killer almost instant to max 2-3 min and survivor max 5 min (8 min is the worst I've seen). It works fine on switch and there are enough invested players judging by the amount of bought cosmetics.

    Welcome to Dead by Daylight!

Can you please do me a favor and come back to this thread and tell us what your early impressions and feelings and questions are, once you have played a few matches and understand more about how the game loop works? It would be really helpful and interesting to hear about this from someone like you.

Crossplay would mean that you would be able to play with people on other platforms, not JUST with other Switch owners. You would not have to repurchase the game for that, only if you wanted to play the game on another platform yourself.

also just out of curiosity sake...which pink ranger are you? Very important to distinguish...lol

Okay I know I'm late but on switch the console can get a bit warm, and there's a memory leak issue so you may have to restart the game each hour or so, but it's honestly not that bad on switch. Framerate is usually around 25-30 and maps don't look as bad as you'd think they would.

You get a lot of DLC with it too tbh, and it's definitely worth it.

If you both have a switch and want to play, I'd recommend it. I'll see you out there in the fog.

Also cross-platform doesn't need another game! Basically, it let's people on switch play with other platforms, including Xbox, PC, and PS4. But it can be disabled and whilst this may lead to longer queue times would mean that you're not at an advantage/disadvantage.

Sorry for missing this welcome to the forums and F13 was fun for a while. I stopped playing that after the final update.

F13 is similar but you can fight the killer and have more means to escape. I can help you with F13 if you want, i played it when it first came out.

Friday is a similar concept. A bunch of near powerless people being relentlessly hunted by a near supernatural killing machine.

Killers are more unique than the different Jason variants, but Survivors are less unique with the only stats for Survivors being physical size and moan/scream volumes.

F13 is also if you're caught, you're dead. DbD is a more competitive focus and much more enjoyable for me. Bigger playerbase too.

Hey, Friday the 13th! I was part of the team that essentially invented the meta for that game. Here are a bunch of guides that were the result of my basically reverse-engineering every opaque mechanic in F13. They're pretty out of date, but they might still be helpful.

For what it's worth, ongoing support for that game stalled out, so it's not terribly active. It's why I dropped it for DBD.

quick update - super fun, just started it tonight. i die...a lot...

That happens when you first start - survivor in particular has quite a steep learning curve. Killer is easier to get into, which is why kill rates are at their highest at low ranks. Don't let it discourage you, though! If you're having fun, keep going, and good luck 😊

Dont worry, soon enough youll be running the killer in circles like a proffesional nascar driver 😊

Its advisable a bunch of time in as survivor, maybe get to rank 15 or so, and then play killer for a bit.

You really want to play both sides to get better at your preferred side. Know thy enemy 😈

Keep at it and soon enough, you'll be able to survive and run the killer

You can do that in Kill your friends it's in the game menu next to 'play as killer'
