Would you want more gore in DBD?
I believe this was a question option in a recent feedback questionnaire.
I personally would like more gore, with the violence being more akin to that displayed in Friday 13th The Game.
Decapitations, limbs everywhere, characters getting more blood drenched with every blow, splurting, dripping blood as the survivor is hooked...I would personally welcome that.
Imagine Pyramid Head having the skin-pull kill from the 2006 film as his mori π

Yes but the game would get banned in many countries. Plus at this point I don't know if its even possible to make all the moris graphic.

Personally, I've always enjoyed DBD's depiction of violence. A lot of it is implied rather than just being brutal. I don't know the exact words, but I think cote explained it a bit better in an old old stream. I don't know why, but DBD just doesn't seem the kind of game for ultra violence to me. The extent of ultra violence I enjoy, is Hag's mori. I love her mori. Super brutal, and they even added some innards, but nothing excessive. When Oni's mori came out, I thought that was even a little much. Just kinda redundant like some MK fatalities.

I think the lack of gore helps replayability; gore is only impactful the first few times, but a repetitive gameplay loop like DBD wouid expose you to it constantly. I'm personally not a fan of gore in general anyways, so I wouldn't want to see it for the thousands of hours I've played and enjoyed this game.
That being said, I don't have a problem with the smaller instances for some moris, like Hag's, that make sense to have gore - but even then, it still needs to be tasteful and not so over-the-top for me to enjoy it.

Some more blood and gore would be nice. I really like the gory and disturbing stuff on the new map. Freddy will fit very well in it.

I'm good with the levels of gore now. The first time I seen the hook animation in a trailer, it almost put me off the game, and when I tried to get a friend to try it, he told me it put him off. I tried explaining it's really not that bad outside of moris, but he called me desensitized. π€·π»ββοΈ It seems like a common reaction, at least for people who don't indulge in gore horror often. I've always been more into psychological or paranormal horror as opposed to slashers myself.
You could argue "Well, it's a slasher game, it should have more gore." And maybe you're right, but I think anything more blatant would be a turn off for lots of new comers.

I personally think the levels of Gore needs to be ramped up, especially for Moris.
It gets tiring seeing the same moris over and over again without any sort of damage on the Survivor.

As i would like more gore, i always liked the old flicks like evil dead and gore in general, many would disagree. I think heavy gore needs to be an option like most games. Dont want gore? Go to settings and disable gore, and block it in certain countries, that way gore fans are happy, gore hating countries are happy, eveyone is happy

Australia says hello!

I forgot australia is a prick about so much crap.

Yes! It would make the Moris look better actually seeing the damage you inflict on the Survivor. We could also get "battle-damaged" Survivors where they're walking around with open wounds. There should be a filter to disable it for those who don't want it and the game should stay the same in countries that would ban it.

I would know, I live there.

Apologies bruv, ignorant American here

It'd be cool but I don't care if it happens or not.

Yes definitely. Take Pyramid Heads mori, the knife should chop the survivor in half.

MAKE ASYMMETRICAL GORY AGAIN!

Nah I'm fine. Gore is a meaningless spectacle that will lose its appeal after you see it more than a few times especially with the fact everyone will be using moris in order to see it
I much more enjoy the game's violence where it is right now where its sort of a mix between 1960s-late 70s horror violence. Friday the 13th had the gore system and honestly its just a bit disturbing
Either way I would like to see them focus on much more meaningful stuff

Imagine a multi-floor map, and using a mori where the survivor is pulled apart.
We could have half the body parts on the first floor and the rest on the ground floor. It would be a game in it's self, tracking down all the limbs π§

Gore for gore's sake just feels cheap to me. Movies like Hostel and such basically come across to me as boring. However, if there is a legitimate reason to have it, and not completely over the top, it can be very effective! However, as someone else said before, too much gore and it just becomes meh. So, the environments I'm not fussed about.
And yet I do agree with the Moris being ramped up a peg or two. It doesn't have to be mad, but there are a few killers that could do with a rework. The Trapper should utilise a trap in his; The Wraith could be ripping the head off the survivor, as he did with Azarov; and why The Demogorgon sucks a head to death is beyond me!

Yes please!

I always thought the trapper should put a person on their knees and bring an open trap down on their head setting it off so it closes around their face π

I like DbD's level of gore, it's almost perfect to me. Shows enough to tell us the narrative but it isn't a snuff film about it.
If we added decapitation/limb severing it would have to be around this level for me:

Agreed, and with The Wraith, I imagined him kneeling with his entire body weight, whilst twisting the head of the survivor off, as a symbolic reference to how he finished his boss.

Hell yeah

Yes.
Mainly cause Wraith's new kill animation needs to have him rip heads off along with the spine.

Me too!

I don't mind not having gore, but being able to decapitate Survivors with Huntress' ax (or sever some limbs with Spirit's Wakizashi) when you kill them would be very gruesome and very cool.

I would love more gore. I wouldn't want them to go overboard with it but a little more gore during certain moris would be nice.

While I do like a little gore in my horror games I just don't think it fits DBD.
DBD feels like a cartoon where all your horror fantasy characters are tossed together and made to interact. Gore would just feel....off.

No, Iβm not a fan of gore. Maybe a tiny bit more blood, but thatβs it.
Id much rather they give ups higher polygon character models with higher resolution textures and better, unique animations (especially facial animations) for Survivors.
I like how each of the Killers have their own gait and wish that would cross over to Survivors.
