How happy are you with Chapter 16: Silent Hill?
I've heard complaints that the dbd community is extremely salty because they've apparently haven't at all heard of Silent Hill/Pyramid Head and therefore hate the new chapter with a passion.
I want actual data to dismiss this criticism as BS because I know I have seen resounding excitement from mostly everybody. Even those who have no idea what Silent Hill is are mostly excited.
Feel free to share your analysis of how the reception of the new chapter was in your eyes.

I like the chapter that much I almost had a heart attack on the release trailer.
As a fan of Silent Hill 1, 2 and 3, I literally screamed when I saw the release trailer. This was definitely the chapter I wanted the most and I'm really excited to play it. I still can't believe in 3 weeks time I'm actually gonna get chased by freaking Pyramid Head. It's gonna be terrifying and I love it.

personally i think this is the best outcome for DBD

They could have done a better chapter with a different licenced chapter
Don't get me wrong, I like the Silent Hill franchise and it's a good fit...but I was hoping for something else.
But the chapter does look impressive.

It does look good. I'm not into Silent Hill and I honestly don't feel like getting into it now, but that doesn't mean I'm not interested in this chapter. The map looks neat, Pyramid Head looks menacing and brings some new, interesting mechanics to the table... and the perks that come alongside the survivor seem pretty cool.
I don't care much about Candyman or Pinhead, and honestly I don't think Pennywise will ever be in DbD, so this chapter is fine by me. This also opens up a room full of possibilities, since we could be getting Chapters in the future not just from movies or series, but from other videogames too. This last thing is what excites me the most.

I knew the design from Pyramid Head, but never played a Silent Hill game. Still, I don't think the chapter seems bad, so I want to check it out. I also wasn't familiar with the Saw franchise or much of Halloween before I started playing this game, so it ended up opening my mind to these franchises. I hope this new chapter will do this for me and other people not familiar with Silent Hill.

My answer is a bit of mix from very excited and wanting to check out the Silent Hill franchise. I have only been a DBD player since last October, so I have only lived the release of two chapters so far (Cursed Legacy and Chains of Hate) but I've gotta say this upcoming Silent Hill Chapter is the best I have experienced so far. So excited!

As a general rule, I'm not interested that much in licensed DLC. I'm not a big movie fan. All I associate with licensed DLC is trouble getting it to new platforms, much fewer cosmetic options that are constrained to actual movie outfits, and no tome lore/rift content for them. I have all original DLCs but only few of the licensed ones. The actually rare case of a licensed character that I liked because of her gameplay, the cute oinks and potential to get my snoot booped was Miss Piggy. I don't have Halloween, nor Nightmare on Elm Street, nor Leatherface, nor Ghostface.
When it was announced the new killer was licensed my first reaction was, "ok another DLC I can safely skip so a welcome break from having to grind bloodpoints to level characters, the only truly amazing license that I can think of would be Silent Hill and that's not ever going to happen. What a sad 4th anniversary".
It's great to see the devs look beyond movies and serve people like me as well. I bet the people who would have cheered about e.g. Jason would have been the same who already celebrated Myers, Freddy, ...

I love this so much mainly because this opens up possibilities for licenses with other video game horror properties.
Ooooh I can't wait to play him in Live Servers.

Silent Hill is my absolute favorite horror franchise and I had been dreaming of Pyramid Head coming into the game since I started playing. I thought it would never happen since 1. Konami 2. being a video game character and all. I am actually glad they went for the video-game characters instead of the movie ones. I absolutely love how they designed the killer, that we got Heather/Cheryl, and also that they chose the school for the map! It feels like a poem to the first three games, and for that I am thankful. Even if SH lore-wise it doesn't make much sense, this is DbD, not Silent Hill, so I am perfectly fine with the choices that were made.

Pyramid Head is going to be one of my favorite Killers in the game. Maybe I’ll get him to P3 50.

I'll hold my judgement until after release.

I didn't even know this was a killer the community wanted but I think they're a really cool killer and it's easy to see why people wanted him

This was the closest option. I didn't care too much about Silent Hill and still don't, but mechanically and visually I like the new DLC. Basically, I feel the same way I would if they had released a good original chapter.

Never played the game, but having watched the movie I'm pretty happy about the character choice. I always found Pyramid Head quite fascinating (and terrifying).
I'm glad it wasn't Candyman too, I watched the movie for curiosity and found it kinda meh.

Please allow me to clear the air here if I may. Silent Hill series never was a successful franchise in terms of making money. Although, stuff from it did get the games to become cult classics among horror games. Pyramid Head was hands down the perfect choice of being the killer. They chosen Cheryl Mason who had the worst dark secret among all the main characters.
Her past is kinda confusing to explain, I'm not a expert on that. I do think for the map, I was expecting the hospital since it's the one location in most Silent Hill game. Although I do see why they went with the school instead. Silent Hill did have two movies that may started not bad but the later movie ruined it.
Silent Hill is something that does have support from it's franchise. It's a brand not everyone would love hints why it doesn't sell well. This franchise is meant to force characters to literately fight not only their inner demons but other people's as well. Like the case of Silent Hill 2, a very good game. I think most of us were really expecting another horror icon taken from another horror movie franchise.
But turned out to be a horror video game franchise that largely isn't known to most of the world. Stuff like Resident Evil is virtually everywhere. Not only they were disappointed but also confused how they might've misread the clues. Most of us didn't even fully consider something was up with the number 5 truthfully.
Out of respect for the team, they went for a classic survival horror franchise that also was an inspiration for the Netflix show Stranger Things' Upside Down. They took a risk that likely wasn't what a lot of fans wanted. But I'm sure a lot of them really wanted Pyramid Head in it. I do see how they can connect Silent Hill to their universe.
Honestly, it is sad a lot of people felt that way. We needed something different from the licensed character's side of things. But we also need a new type of killer into the game as well. I think, they are giving us something truly unique. I don't see this like many people do. They chosen Silent Hill alone further earned my respect for the team.

The funny thing is, horror wimp that I am, I never played Silent Hill, and I have no reason to be as excited as I am, outside of copying and using Krazy's Pyramid Head Invader Cosplay in Dark Souls 1. Doesn't mean I'm not extremely excited though, just means I can't really explain why.
