Stretched resolution is cheating (not_queen on true's stream)
What about high ping? This obviously gives tremendously higher and unfair advantage and impacts 4 survivors not just 1vs1 interaction when one survivor is using it.

A high ping isn't any advantage, much less a "tremendously higher and unfair" one.
Yes, it results in some weird #########, but they're affected by it as well.

What's the controversy over stretched resolution? Can someone explain what he's referring to?
0 -
????????
ok I don't know exactly by what way I should start with this ridiculous thing you started.
I see you watch tru3, and here I let you an example of why you shouldn't take example of him about stretched resolution:
he didn't even paid attention about the upside part as is perfectly clear, and admitted this to be intentional and "only counterable" by using stretched screen so "it's cheating". Ridiculous.
now here I leave you example of how the difference is none:
https://clips.twitch.tv/KathishFragileHyenaCeilingCat
This video isn't working for me now, so I explain, this survivor entered a kill your friends match to compare in a normal loop similar to this the visual difference between not sctretched and stretched during a livestream when some viewers accused him of cheating for this. During the comparision, the killer didnt even move to show perfectly both visuals, and it's just the same
Next point: the lag
By the actual system: When someone lags, no matter killer or survivor, the servers stops sending information about the position of the player, so the information that the rest of players download is an stopped player, this is the reason why the lag always beneficiate the killer, and just because is a hit for the killer, even if you're in the other side of the map, you get hitted. This is the explanaion of the actual lagswitchers and VPN killers. If a survivor lag, instead of the killer, the result is just the same.
Last point: the tremendously ridiculous thing you have invented.
No, when a survivor lags it doesn't affect the rest of players, each one has their own ping, and even if you were true about this, as I explained before how dedicated servers latency works, it would even just beneficiate the killer even more.
This is why devs are going to remove the killer priority and make the server work and decide if it's hit.

@Angelicus23 I don't understand what the issue at hand is. Is he accusing the killer of using a resolution hack? Someone explain to me like I am dumb and have no clue or context for any of this, please.
1 -
In many games you can change how your monitor displays the game. For example using a 4:3 aspect ratio on a 16:10 monitor. In many games this has no issue however DBD renders this differently and gives players an advantage by increasing their vertical FOV. You can see over structures using this, making mindgaming incredibly difficult (although flashlight saves also become harder), and killers can see survivors who attempt to window tech them.
5 -
Oh god, lol. This is only an issue because DBD's settings menu doesn't have normal options like a normal game.
10 -
ok I explain clearlier don't worry. For him, you could just avoid that mindgame he received just by using stretched, because he's blind, that's why he says stretched isn't intentional so it should be counted as cheating
0 -
I obviously didn't have laggy survivors in my mind. It might cause some teleport during the lag spike but I have yet to see it more than once. Everyone knows what happens when killer lags and what being dedicated means. This compared to having slightly bigger FOV is tremendous advantage hence why my question. Why calling people out for it and ignoring the elephant in the room?
0 -
high ping is not arbitrary (unless we talking about vpn killer, that's another story), and you cannot say that people with McDonald's internet shouldn't play, despite the fact that they ruin the experience, because not everyone has money, bla bla and other stupid bs.
0 -
and for a while Anti Aliasing was forced by every way because for some people it was considered cheating for having the game not blurry. It's ridiculous how some people don't want to improve their own graphics and if other people do, it's unfair
0 -
So when I get dedicated thru pallets, walls, windows it's still legit ggez skillful, working as intended gameplay and the lagger has the right to destroy other people fun? Pls just go play any shooter and tell me why it happens there once in a blue moon (hint: it's not intended and laggers are at disadvantage because no one cares if your ping is above 100ms)
0 -
I'll repeat it to you, stretched doesnt give adcantage. Please watch both clips I added in my comment before answering me

Hahahha, imagine a game in 2020 taking an official stance that resolution, FOV, and/or anti-aliasing are cheating. 🤣
They need to overhaul their settings menu and make these things into game options like every normal game that exists.
6 -
DbD relies on people not being able to control some visual settings, like FOV. It's balanced around that expectation.
0 -
If you have bad internet you shouldn't be able to make lobbies. Especially if you know you have it. At that point your just using your internet for free kills.
2 -
If you watch Tru3 long enough you realize he blames all his mistakes on cheating or SWF. He's sort of like the My First Lil Streamer' of DbD. Watch Zubat and many other if you want to see real killers without excuses.
When I first started playing killer I watched Tru3 and TydeTyme. I quickly realized that both always had excuses and claimed cheating when they lost. I started watching big boy streamers and started learning about how to identify my errors and get gud.
7 -
Yes, stretched resolution is cheating.
No, high ping is not cheating.

Anyone know how to achieve high FPS and smoother gameplay while simultaneously lowering graphics without the use to "Stretched Resolution?"
0 -
They can't really force native res. They can only tell the game to follow the res set by Windows itself; which is where people enable stretched res. As far as the game is concerned, it is running in native res. It doesn't know any different.
What they need to do is lock the survivor FOV per aspect ratio.
2 -
It wasn't because disabling AA was considered cheating, but because other options were changed which WAS cheating, such as changing the size of the red stain or removing mist. The devs locked the entire engine file, however now some options are unlocked (like fps cap) whilst others are kept locked.

Backing you up m8 with another very recent scenario:
Starts at 0:58 ( link with timestamp: https://youtu.be/2_auq7u4mmk?t=58 )
1:28 "You see that, when she turned around she was perfectly hidden. [...] you see once again, if I had a more vertical view I'd have seen her easier" (I hope I got that 2nd part right, sometimes its hard to quote his exact words).
4:22 I kinda dont wanna get into it, some people refuse to believe its the reality. I dont wanna get into that negativity. [...] I know these things man. I could literally see over the hill with stretched screen. I'd be able to know where the killer is man. I dont want to talk about that.
Just look at the clip, he clearly got caught bc he's playing on normal res. /s

2x post for whatever reason.

Basically you can watch around corbers you shouldn't be able to. This eliminates mindgames at alot of loops and hurts mostly low tier killer.

I'm shocked that people will still say that stretched res makes no difference lmao
1 -
okay.
1 -
uuuuh excuse me? can you show me how exactly could you make red stain bigger? there is literally no single relation on that with the ini files lol, ini files just change graphical settings for quality not size. And yes, there were people saying AA was unfair because it removes some blurryness, and it doesn't have any sense that devs block AA just because as you just invented people "made red satin bigger". Please get informed on what Anti Alisaing is before commenting.

AJHSAJHSAJSHJAS thanks dude I can't stop laughing with this, I can't believe there is people actually taking him as an example of a good player just because he has a lot of hours and he's playing survivor to "prove his points" but he's just trying to look blind or something, he even were looking a bit down in that loop maybe to hide the killer and call stretched a cheat, when he didn't even tried to use it never. I'd pay him to prove his points in a private match playing survivor with stretched but he knows he's so bad and the result would be the same.
1 -
Oh dear someone's a little cranky.
The devs locked everything in those files. This includes AA and FPS cap, but also includes other files that have mist options, red stain brightness, it oenetrating walls, etc etc.
People saying disabling AA not being fair were just lacking in the braincell department, it's not that difficult.
Please, get informed before you try and come at me and responding. Check yourself before you wreck yourself and all that.
Cheers xx

The video works, it's the embedded that doesn't. Just follow the link you posted to watch it: https://clips.twitch.tv/KathishFragileHyenaCeilingCat
Also, I would like to add to this thread that 4:3 monitors are obviously cheats /s

Oh thear someone still didn't show me proof and wants to show some ego. Ok.
revise this forum post above, the date you can check is indeed after the anti aliasing force, as you can see in the nvidia FPS counter, I have way more than 60 fps. This proves how you're wrong and lying. Again, ini files just changes quality, not brightness or anything miscelaneous, I dare you to SHOW ME PROOF before you comment again just like I did.
"Please, get informed before you try and come at me and responding. Check yourself before you wreck yourself and all that." well I just did, now your turn. Again, show proof. :)

Sorry I can't relate that's a cheat because I checked by myself that no. One of my discord friends has a monitor like that, he's sometime sending screenshots of his random moments and stuff to show off, and the resolution is similar to stretched, just the difference is that characters don't look fat and you dont need to look down lo see propperly, and loops have the same visual.
btw thanks for the link tip, it didn't work for me embedded so I made sure people could watch it by adding the link too.

I was being ironic, man. I put the /s tag in it for that reason. It's all good, I'm with you on this one.
2 -
oh sorry lmao. My apologies. I didn't know what did that mean. Now here I can admit my mistake. Again sorry xD
1 -
No need to apologize. I misunderstand online posts all the time.
2 -
ok this comment doesn't match with the discussion but I see it needed.
Yes, there was a need of me to apologize because I'm showing the people how everyone need to get used to say sorry and admit their mistakes for a more healthy conversation or discussion, if I didn't say sorry, I would have ended looking like a biased person, so I recognised my mistake and gave you the right.
You can see on my answers of this thread to the person before you how I showed proofs of how I am right and he's not, he stopped replying instead of admitting he's wrongly informed and he didn't check anything himself like I did and screenshotted. I can just recover my repoects on him if he admitted on lying of his information while answering me in a not needed toxic way.
Ok I'm taking this a bit serious but I think this is how everyone should act to make discussions fun and healthy.

Anti Aliasing wasn't locked due to it giving an advantage to some over others. That section was locked because people were able to make adjustments to files in that section that DID give an in game advantage and unfortunately the whole section had to be locked and the side effect of that was that people couldn't switch AA off.
2 -
and some people blamed on the AA for that because it was the biggest inpact and most noticeaable thing for the people.
the whole ini file wasnt blocked during that time, at least for me because maybe it was an unintended bug? idk, but my FPS were unlocked as I showed before, it was just the AA what didnt work.
however I tried to do research before of how people made unfair things with ini files and still didn't find anything so I would be very apreciated if in case it was possible to show me footage or something about those unfair advantages, I want to check myself.
0 -
Just because some people blamed AA for that, does not mean that they were correct, and no I'm definitely not going to show off video's of people cheating in the game!
The files were blocked at that time and as I said the ability to switch off AA was just a side effect, we were unable to implement it any differently at the time.
Further confirmation here from Peanits.
3 -
Sooooo ur saying changing your screen to benefit you is cheating???
2 -
ok please quote me so I can answer faster because I can't know when someone posts here. I didnt say that's the reason, just that some people blamed on AA. That's all.
Next point: I believe you, I might have seen that comment before, however, that's not what I wanted to see as I said in my comment, people just mentions malicious tweaks, but I want to see those things myself, otherwise I can't trust it
0 -
So me playing on a Microsoft surface laptop with native 4:3 res is cheating @not_Queen?
3 -
Balanced around idiots who can't find out by themselves what options do? Wow, that's some great view the devs have on us lol
1 -
You see more than you're supposed to, it's an unfair advantage, it's cheating, end of story.
1 -
The even funnier thing is that Tru3 uses third party software to adjust his audio settings so he has an advantage when playing killer. That’s okay though apparently.
0 -
Last I remember, he was adjusting the audio settings to fix audio problems he was having in-game. That's not the same thing as giving yourself in-game advantages you shouldn't have.
0 -
The game is balanced around sight and sound. The devs themselves have said that it’s harder to hear survivors in a chase for a reason, to give them a chance to escape. Messing with sound settings is no different from messing with visual settings, he can say it’s to “fix problems” all he wants but the people using stretched res could say exactly the same. He’s just a hypocrite.
0 -
But what if there are genuine problems with the audio that are a result of his sound settings, and he's adjusting his settings to return them to normal?
0 -
What if someone has genuine problems with their FPS that are a result of their set up, and they adjust their resolution to return them to normal?
0 -
The only way to find this out is to do a Google search as these are considered cheats so no one can post links to them as its against the rules. These tweaks have been common knowledge for a long time but can only be done on PC of course.
I dont see why you wouldnt trust what Peanits or Mandytalk say. They are the voices of those within BHVR actually working on the game here. They just can't say exactly how something is done for obvious reasons.
1 -
If that's genuine, and no other solutions seem to work, then what else can you do?
