How to counter oni?

I have 2000 hours in this game and cannot figure out how to counter him whatsoever during his power. Dropping pallets early buys you a mere 5-8 seconds before he dashes and instadowns you. Looping him at medium to large loops is a death sentence. Funnily enough he has trouble demon dashing at small loops where he doesn't even need to use his dash to get regular instadowns. Every other killer including nurse and spirit has some form of counterplay but oni just seems pretty broken. I am looking for serious tips or tricks to play against oni which could include perks but mainly just strategies. Something like "just dodge bro" is ######### worthless info because a good oni will hit 99% of the time. I have watched gameplay from decent Onis point of view and from the point of view of top survivor streamers and they pretty much go down regardless of what they do a vast majority of the time unless the oni manages to mindgame himself. I do not think he's overpowered in the sense that he 4k's every game but there is no way to actually win a chase vs. a good oni because his mobility and more importantly his maneuverability during the dash is ridiculous. So im looking for serious answers or clips that will teach me how to play better vs oni. Pretty much anything besides "hide in a locker" or "just dodge lul" would be helpful. Also to clarify im talking about rank 1 Onis with every available perk and that are good and understand the game at a high level not low rank people.

Honestly the best way to learn how to counter him is actually playing as him and learning his weaknesses that way.

Ideally it is just down to how much you can starve Oni at the beginning from gaining his power. There are a few other things that can help though:

    1. Like you said, tight loops or corners can really help. See his limitations by playing practice accordingly.
    2. Any line of sight breaks that cause him to predict the attack is always good by at least giving you a chance to mind-game.
    3. If possible, having a window to retreat to from a loop is always good to force the charge.
    4. To reduce yourself getting into the chase to begin with always assume Infectious Fright.
    5. When dashing at slow loops, you need to play on the pallet more since his turning is more predictable.

Probably not the complex tips you are wanting, but really it's just about understanding how limited his turning is during the attack. Sadly if you team isn't confident in themselves and always give him his power, it's going to be a rough match.

Make sure he takes as long as possible to get the first hit. Without a hit he has no power.
