Auric Cell vs Steam Purchase

I've never bought a chapter with Auric cells and it just ocured to me that it might not be the best thing to do.

Really REALLY looking forward to the new chapter so I went out and bought a fairly modest amount of Auric Cells:

I think I have enough to buy the chapter for 1k? an outfit for another 1k and part of another outfit with the 740 change I have left over.

I'm wondering, is it cheaper and / or any way better to buy new chapters from the Steam store over in game via Auric cells? or are they both the same value at the end of the day.

I'll probably just end up getting some more steam currency and buying it from there then use the Auric Cells to trick my Silent Hill toons out XD

Just realized I have no idea what any of this is going to cost lol. I've probably over prepared. I dunno.

IIRC it's 5 € worth of AC per character, so 10 € total, as opposed to 7 € if you just buy the chapter. Auric Cells are only cheaper if you want to buy one character.

It's licensed content, so it will likely cost more than the exclusive original chapters.

Thanks. I'll go with plan B then and just buy it from Steam.

Now I have WAY too much bling currency lmao.

So AFAIK one character costs 500 auric cells, which is about £5. On Steam chapters (including both characters and some extra cosmetics) are about £8 with the exception of Stranger Things which was £10-£11 because of it containing 3 characters not 2.

I think it's cheaper to buy it through the Steam Store but if you have that many cells and nothing else to use then on (read as: if you own shirtless David) then go for it- since you've already spent the money on the cells you might as well, particularly if you can't afford more.

Unless the chapter is hella expensive. In which case maybe using your cells could be a better call, we'll have to wait and see on pricing.

Well just to make you aware: When Ghost Face was first released, he wasn't automatically uploaded on to PSN so I brought cells and used them to unlock him in-game.

Imagine my happy face when I found out that, because I brought Ghost Face in-game, I didn't get his extra monochrome skin. Turns out you had to buy it through PSN to get the extra skin. Now I probably wouldn't of ever used it, but I was a little cheesed off.

Usually buying the chapter as a whole nets some cosmetics as well. I’d recommend buying every chapter outright over auric cells. Even ghostface (single character chapters) comes with a white outfit and blade that doesn’t come with the Auric Cells purchase.

I think if you buy a character with AC you miss out on whatever exclusive cosmetic you'd get if you got the Chapter. Which is usually just a recolour except for the Silent Hill DLC which I think is coming with an exclusive charm.

On top of what everyone is else is saying, if you share the game with an SO or a kid or whoever that uses the same computer as you, they'll have access to all of the content that you'll buy through steam but nothing that you bought via auric cells.
