@BHVR will devotion continue to be a meaningless number?
I find pretty sad that after such a long time we neither got any rank rewards nor devotion rewards and I really don't like that.
Why do even have devotions numbers when they do absolutly nothing? Might aswell just reset to develop 0 level 0 after hitting level 100 cuz that wouldn't make any difference.

I'm just sad that my 2017-2018 playtime doesn't contribute towards my devotion level. Most of my hours were in that stretch before I took a long break after Pig came out, but as is my devotion is tiny.

I was pretty angry to find out that devotion is basically a punishment considering it lowers your shards by alot when you hit it. It should up them if anything.

Why sad? It's meaningless atm and probably will always be. It's even better because now noone knows that you spend that much hrs into a game lol

I'm amazed at how many people ignorantly claim we don't get any devotion rewards when it's so blatantly obvious that we do.
0 -
I've gotten 6 devotions damnit, give me something instead of a number.
0 -
Remind me, the rewards are....?
11 -
It would be nice if each devotion level rewarded so shards or something.
0 -
Iridescent shards. It takes a large amount of ignorance to look at the only thing that gives you iridescent shards (a currency that's nearly as good as auric cells which you pay real cash for) and think "Waaah, no rewards. I want more!"
1 -
I keep forgetting devotion exist lol.
0 -
Nope. Devotion gives you zero shards. It's the levels which gives you shards. In fact, devotion is a punishement because it resets your level to 1 and therefore gives you less shards till you reach higher levels again.
14 -
That's true ^^

Oh, I understand now. You don't realize why devotion exists to begin with. Actually, you don't seem to understand how the level system itself works either so let me start with that. As levels increase, both the shard rewards and the xp required to read the next level increase. The shards per xp do differ slightly at different milestones but stay in a very small range. And it doesn't give you more shards per xp as level increases, it jumps both up and down at different milestones. Actually, the very last milestone before a reset is less shards per xp compared to the milestone before it. There is no "punishment" for reaching the next devotion level; that's just a figment of your imagination.
If instead of resetting, the shard rewards and xp required to level just kept increasing, then eventually it would take ridiculously large amounts of xp to get to the next level with massive shards being rewarded as a result. If the shards per xp invested actually increased as things went up, players might enjoy this. But since they stay relatively the same, most intelligent people are going to want more consistent progress rather than wildly spaced out progress. BHVR knew that and designed the player level to reset once levels reached 100 because that's intelligent design. The result was adding another variable that measured the results so you could have a hundred's place to help you measure your levels gained. Devotion is nothing more than the hundred's place on your player level. BHVR just assumed that players would be smart enough to figure that much out on their own so they didn't explicitly state it.

I'm not going to read this wall of someone who thinks that devotion gives you shard when facts stand that it gives 0 shards and punishes you with a level reset.
4 -
Not surprising. That's probly how you became so ignorant in the first place. Ignorance is the result of not taking in information.

Cries in devotion 8

Devotion litterally does nothing.
If you had used your little brain a bit more you would know that at lower levels you gain less shards but there is less XP needed, making the shards gained over time the same.
But no, you complain then say "nuuh huhuhuuhuh i don't wanna read." Keep living in ignorance and stop ranting then.

That literally did not answer anything. All u did was explain what devotion was, which everyone knows. So how about instead of belittling peopleand acting like you know anything, actually at the least of answer the question of WHAT rewards. And no, just because it's used in the system to "make getting shards more consistent" does not mean it's a reward.
Anyway I forgot on what stream it was on but I remember them talking about how they might have some ideas for ththe future to add devotion rewards just like how they will eventually add prestige rewards

I'm just lazy, I don't have time for every single person in the forum. Sorry to burst your bubble when you thought you are important to me. U really are not.
1 -
If you truly and honestly believe that devotion is this whole different scale outside of player level, then yeah, in that twisted interpretation, it doesn't give any rewards. But let's be real. It's like complaining why wasn't there anything special kind of annual pay at your company when the year when from '99 to '00. All you got was a regular year's pay.
1 -
Just stop with this gymnastics. Accept you were wrong and there is no devotion rewards and move on. It's really simple.
3 -
So let me get this straight. You've never once gotten any iridescent shards when your devotion level went up?
2 -
NOONE get shards for devotion increase. Nothing.
0 -
That's funny because I get shards every single time I gain devotion. 300 of them I believe.
2 -
That's for leveling up from level 99 to 100 lmao.
Maybe pay more attention to what's happening on the screen.
1 -
Remember back when you got like 10 shards per match or something? I loved that but also hated it. Imagine if they never changed the shrine of secrets' prices, then we'd have perks for like 750 (I think?) and everyone would be able to get every perk.
0 -
You don't go from level 99 to 100. You go from level 99 to 1. Maybe pay more attention to what's happening on the screen.
I'll try to make this simple for you since you can't read anything complicated, but going from level 99 to level 1 isn't a level up. It's actually the exact opposite by a factor of 98. Actually, now that I think about it, the strictest interpretation of player levels when you consider them to be so seperate from devotion would mean you're actually losing around 25,000 iridescent shards at this point. In turn that means rather than 300 shards, you're gaining about 25,000 for going up in devotion.
2 -
What do you think would make good devotion rewards? I think they should give 100 auric cells or something.
1 -
As cool as auric cells would I doubt a business group like bhvr will ever do that :/
I think about special cosmetic pieces or badges. The higher the Devotion the rarer the reward becomes automatically
Or a whole different approach: the higher the devotions the higher the BP cap. Each devotions gives you additional +1 million bp on the cap
Just anything would be great but nothing is just lame and lazy.
0 -
Actually if you want to be very correct. The 300 shards you talk about is finishing/filling level 99 up. You still don't get any rewards for devotion. Accept you were wrong and move on. I think even the devs themselves said there no rewards.
0 -
It's basically the same with getting to rank 1. Ranking is meaningless or tbh kinda punishing. I get more tryharding and sweaty games.
It doesn't have to be something big. Maybe 500k BP would be great, u know? Im Devotion 8 and it feels kinda.. unrewarding to spend so much time if I would play for shards. (The Rift and Archive feels great, but ranking and leveling your deviotion feels awful imo)
0 -
The Devs themselves said that they're not looking into it (right now).
My idea for a Devotion reward system (Already said it in other discussions about it)
With each devotion the max. shard cap will increase by 5 shards and you gain every level 5 more shards.
For Example: Level 1 50 shards ---- Level 1 Devotion 2 60 shards --- Level 1 Devotion 10 should be 100 shards.
It would be a nice reward to gain more shards and it would not be overwhelmingly much.
Another option could be rewarding with X % more Bloodpoints and eventually increasing the Blood Point cap by X amount

LMFAO This thread is an echo chamber of idiocy and the ONE person who is taking the time and effort to comprehensively elaborate the mechanics of the system(I myself have yet to hit the reset and was unaware of the workings if this as well BUT, I am at least intelligent enough to have caught on to the gist of it and observant enough to see the clear 300 sparklies at each level up) is not only being shunned but actively bashed. @Dehitay, thank you for explaining this. I go forth with the shared wisdom of your experiences. I kinda wanna stick around to watch just how long and far the denial persists but I know it will only cause this feeling of mild amusement to devolve into pity for the willingly ignorant. I wish you well, friend! Catch ya in The Fog!

@Dehitay is ultimately correct about the leveling system. Though it would be neat if we got a little something extra to sort of commemorate each level of devotion, like some auric cells or a border for our steam id/gamer tag/psn username that got progressively more intricate.
