Why can killers not see the deep wound timer?
So, this is something that has been bugging me lately so I decided to ask around if anyone knows the reason as to why it's still hidden. I get that the original intention behind hiding it was that it could be used as a sort of inbuild whispers back when it was still linked to the terror radius, however since it was changed to now be based on if the survivor is running or mending I dont really see why it needs to be hidden.

Because when killers (legion) could they would moon walk after the survivor to bypass the timer from pausing due to the chase until the survivor dropped.

But it doesnt work like that anymore? The time only drops now if a survivor is doing something that isn't mending or running. So even if you are moonwalking after them it would never down them unless they stop running for some reason.

They've since changed how Deep Wounds works so that specific scenario wouldn't be an issue anymore.
I honestly just figured it's similar to why Pigs can't see progress on activated Reverse Bear Traps, or Plague can't see sickness progress on Survivors.

That's the issue, it'd let you know exactly when the survivor stopped running.

It's to keep killers from still trying to follow the survivor. Otherwise, killers will watch the timer and still will be able to see if the survivor is in their terror radius or not.

I have no idea then. It's useless to have a timer in the first place since it encourages survivors to run to a safe pallet to mend, not to mention if survivors are grouped up the timer likely won't deplete until they know legion is in chase without their power.

Killers don’t need the Deep Wound timer information, honestly. It would be helpful to SOME degree but it would feel inconsequential over time.
Pig doesn’t need to see her RBT timers, she would just tunnel the survivors with little time left. She’d just get a lot situational awareness that isn’t necessary. Add to the fact that she can crouch to make a timer keep going while chasing a survivor will make life hell.
I don’t think Ghost Face can see the Marked Survivor timer right? That’s probably the only timer I’d like to see on the killer side, since Michael can see his Evil Within 3 timer’s progress.

I haven't played Ghostface in a long time but I am 90% certain he can see the timer.

Would that kind of information really be too much though? I feel like that isn't really telling you much, I guess you could use it as a sort of way to see when someone quick and quiets into a locker or they are trying a corner juke or something. I dont know, personally I just dont think having that kind of information would be actually game breaking or too powerful but maybe I am just not thinking it through properly.
It just being a consistency thing would probably make the most sense yeah, though deep wound itself is kinda weird in how it works and being able to see its timer especially in its current form would probably not allow you to gain any value from it unlike with bear traps or sickness.

Deep wound needs a rework, the entire mechanic is pointless.

But it would also pause if they're mending. Also against Legion survivors immediately just start mending anyway

Gotcha.
I think Plague should be able to see her infection buildup on survivors as well.

It could also be that the devs don't want to encourage killers to go after survivors affected by Deep Wound.

Once a survivor is expose by ghostface, the little red circle around the survivor, everyone ghostface and survivor alike, can see the timer ticking down, until the expose effect ends.

Same with Freddy and his sleep timer. I’m suprised that killers are alloved to see hook peogression still.

If the helmet has little time left...would you even consider it tunneling at that point since it means she hasnt been chasing that person?

If she sees the timer, she can choose to drop chase with another survivor and follow the trapped survivor while crouched because that would be the easiest option to get someone out of the game. It’s not fun as survivor to deal with a trap then get tunneled by the Pig. Almost equivalent to facecamping.
Obviously if Pig isn’t in chase or anything then spots me while I have a RBT I don’t expect her to leave me alone, but many times they will pick the trapped survivor over the non-trapped to chase.

No she should not.

I would rather see the buildup meter instead of getting a free Corrupted Fountain at the start of a game. This would help me know how to time my Vile Purge, and would be a nice buff. You think it’d be too strong? Why?

Once again... them choosing to chase you after youve been free to do whatever for awhile isnt tunneling. Its actually a sign of a good killer if they are dropping chases to apply pressure elsewhere. If you make yourself obvious... thats on you. As it stands, the killer can already gauge how much time you have left by the beeping and the color of the light.

Plague should be able to see the buildup meter. There are no downsides for either of the parties here. You're gonna start vomiting anyway, and the Plague can see how far along the survivor is in a chase, which would be a slight, but very much needed buff for her.
Pig should stay as is to prevent tunneling.
Deep wound on any killer is a tricky one though. I personally think that the killer should be able to see it. But, at the same time, do you really need to see it? It is such a boring mechanic anyway, and everyone in their right mind will start to mend as soon as they are out of the chase, so I really don't see the point in either seeing it or not, to be perfectly honest.

It’s not possible to “not be obvious” when you pretty much have to run in a straight line to each Jigsaw box, especially if you’re on a big map and/or are unlucky enough to have to search each box. Remember, your timer goes down when not being chased so it’s not like you can just stealthily make your way around the map. The Pig also can see the boxes, so she’ll know exactly where you’re heading.
0 -
She'll know where the boxes are, but doesnt know which one your headed to next. Thats like saying because the killer can see gens...she'll know EXACTLY where everyone is headed. As far as not being obvious goes... You can avoid running out in the middle of the open and try to at least use LOS blockers if the killer is nearby.
1 -
Yes, you can use LOS blockers but you’ll most likely be injured if you have a trap on so if you don’t have Iron Will she will probably hear you and judging by the direction you’re heading she’ll know what boxes you need to search next.

If only there was some way to heal up and not have the timer on your head active.
