Red ranks
I finally hit rank 8 as killer for a while back and since then I've been F'd in the a@#. i don't mind but time to time I get rude comments, and even insults that actually hurt to the point its making me depressed. I've always been out looped, out beaten and time to time again I've been F'ing up so much I just give up, I want to hurt myself. I've even been tortured by killers I do well at like Wraith,Oni, doc, clown, hell even as Spirit I've been mocked at and black pipped. Today was just a rough day so I'm asking just for a little comfort please, you don't have to but it'd be appreciated and thank you.

If you let them get to you, you can close chat or disable messages on console.

Always remember; its just a game.
But a lot of players really should remember that the killer is not their enemy, but their playing partner, and therefore show a little respect to another human being.
But still, its a game, and if you are getting depressed, its just not worth it. This game has his own kind of addiction, but its gone very fast once you take a break and realize how much less toxic the world can be.

If you close the chat it stays closed even in future games. Some survivors will comment on your profile but you can make that private as well.
YYou shouldn't have to do this but if the toxic messages are getting to you, avoid them.

You can still close the chat and I believe you can have it auto turned off by changing a boolean in the GameUserSettings.ini. Look for "ChatDefaultVisibility=True" and change it to from True to False.
Furthermore, if the comments are hurting you this much perhaps you should edit your steam privacy settings so that only friends can comment on your profile - or you could disable everyone from commenting.

im very sorry to hear that, its true this community can be a handfull at times, but you shouldnt let these messages get to you. Some people will complain and act very rude towards you and others no matter what you did, so you should keep that in mind: its not your mistake, its their mindset thats problematic.
you should never take such salty comments serious.
and as others have mentioned above, in case you cant do that, you have the option to disable your chat at any given time.
for doing that, click on the little arrow icon next to the chat window and it will disappear, until you click on said icon again. and should these toxic players be super desperate for attention, they might start commenting on your profile - you can eigther just delete their messages and report them to Steam directly, or you can just do it like me and turn your profile to private / friends only. that way they wont be able to comment on it even if they wanted to.
and always remember:
should they be very insulting or aggressive towards you or anyone else in the chat (e.g. death threats - ive had a couple of these myself. childish stuff like "#########") the Devs take those very seriously, so make sure you report them ingame. this will automatically save a chatlog of the endchat and allow the support team to directly view their messages. if they somehow figured out a way to insult you outside of DbD, make sure you report them to the given services (e.g. Steam support, should they comment on your profile).
i wish you the best of luck dealing with them!
and most importantly: enjoy your time out there in the fog!

Thank you man that just made my day, I feel a little better, like thing is I'm just a content creator, I make fan-made chapters share my ideas that it. I didn't ask to go through this, I just wanted to join a community I felt safe in, and I can't do it when crap like this happens to me. I've actually had someone tell me go play roblox ( or something in those following lines.) and acted racist towards me. I didn't report because I didn't know how to. But thx none the less

you're welcome :)
glad i could help you ^^
if you wish to report someone ingame, you can hover your mouse behind their name in the end result chart and click on the thumbs up icon there. this will lead you to a little interface where you are able to eigther thumb them up for playing well / being nice in end chat (something i usually do to nice people, dunno if it ever does anything tbh), or select one of 4 report cathegories - one of which is being insulting in the end chat.
however, if you wish to report them for something that happened ingame, you will need to send additional proof of their offense to the support. make a couple of screenshots / make a video of them doing what they did and then submit a ticket with the additional information here: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us
be aware however, that it is mandatory that you report them ingame first! if you didnt do that, the support team wont be able to ban them. also, you wont receive any feedback regarding what happened with the player you reportet, just so you know.
have a nice day and stay safe out there!
