Dying Resets Survivors?
Just unlocked Arcus 8875:
"Perhaps this is the reason The Entity wipes the slate clean with every resurrection. The unwavering belief that death is real gives weight and gravitas to the trial....to the experience. Otherwise survivors won't care. Wouldn't run. Wouldn't feel."
Am I reading this right? Every time a survivor dies in a trial, they wake up with no memory of it?

Based on the much earlier information provided to us by Benedict Baker, they retain skills and knowledge learned from earlier trials, but may have some missing pieces to their memories (such as how they get to a certain map or return to the campfire). A lot of survivors and killers also seem to have been somewhat aware of when the Entity claimed them.
To quote him: "Sometimes I escape and sometimes I stare the Entity in the eye and wake up at the never ending fire."
"Is it hope that drives you on? Hoping that the next time will bring your actual death, or hope that the next exit reveals a way back home. I yearn for some kind of escape. Be it death or life."
I'm pretty sure the "slate being wiped clean" is actually the Entity restoring any escaped/sacrificed survivors to a healthy state in preparation for the next Trial. The whole point is that they need to have hope that they can either finally escape (and leave) or help free others from the Entity's Limbo.
Of course, Benedict Baker's exposition has largely been replaced by The Observer with his Archives and some of the really old lore may have been ret-conned a little bit (for example, Huntress is implied to have taken down several WWI-Era German soldiers in her character info to gather her equipment, but this was changed in the Collection to be Russian soldiers. Though they can be seen wearing the German/Prussian Picklehaube helmet in her cinematic).

She's probably killed a lot of soldiers - I wouldn't really call that a retcon.
Nothing says she couldn't kill a group of fighting Russians and Germans one day and then slaughter some others another day.

@APoipleTurtle She killed both germans and russians, in her cutscene she kills 2 german soldiers and a cossack.

I think the Entity wipes survivors' memories about them dying or maybe the whole matches where they die. They logically can assume that they have died because when some survivors escape and some die, they all still hang out near the campfire by the end and the survivors who got out would totally inform the survivors who died about their deaths. The point of wiping memories of deaths is to make survivors afraid of experiencing the death. They only know about the fact that they'll be back after dying but they don't remember how it feels to die. So that's how they're kept motivated to continue resisting the killers.
