I quit playing killer in dbd

the killer experience at rank one is stressful at its best and just dreadful at its worst. I have heard many killer main streamers/youtubers complain of the same fact. Its just not worth sweating your ass off ever game just to have a chance and im done with it.

I have lost all hope that these devs have any clue how to fix their game and im sick of SWF groups roaming around in a game that was clearly balanced around solo que. I was looking forward to the balancing map changes and im saddened to see that only the most obvious of issues was even looked at. This leads me to think that the balance team of DBD plays and balances around what feels right for low skill solo players. Ruin was nerfed into oblivion entirely because new players understandably couldn't hit that skillcheck, so the devs removed it. Even though at high ranks it only gave the killer a sliver of respite from gens flying. Pretty good job so far.

Genrushing is a massive issue and we needed ruin to help us pressure the gens. Now with the hex ruin nerf it’s a lot easier for survs to get to red ranks who don’t deserve it.

survivors make the killer not the power role especially with 4 man swfs with discord comms have no counterplay as they can communicate “Killers chasing me” “Found his hex totem” “Doing this generator and can you please try and run the killer for 5 gens, etc.

this game was made for solo queue.

i hate having to try hard and sweat my arse off for a fair and square game. Legion needs buffs :)

Yeah same I hope they make the new start game feature good. I don’t like being forced to sweat just to have a fun and fair game

I think people have been trying to explain this to BHVR about the SWF and solo survivors for ages, for some reason BHVR at best will just nod their head

Why do people have the need to do these "I'm qutting the game" types of posts? Why would you need to make a post like that publicly, never saw the reasoning behind it except to start a us vs them type of thread or something similar and just purely ######### on the devs and the game.

I dont get it either man, but my guess is that some people are just a little insecure and they have the need to put there thoughts out there in order to get validation.

Also there are a lot of trolls that just love seing people fight over this kind of topic.

Could be,ya never know. I personally think people want empathy from others,i see that as the main motive.

When speaking about game balancing, the developers are clearly amateurs. At this point I just play the game casually and mostly with survivor because it's guaranteed fun, and I suggest you to do the same.

As I already spoke in this forum, DbD should adopt a more serious ranking system based on Glicko2 (like Valorant, Counter-Strike, Guild Wars 2, Hearthstone (for legend rank), etc…). After this, balance the game around the highest tier of players. Those who play the game casually will stay on the lowest tiers of the rating system, and therefore will not be impacted by the change. Those who play the game competitively, will stay on the highest tier, competing with other competitive players, and then we will see more clearly the balancing issues that the game has. Taking the Glicko2 system for exemple (which is one of the possibilities - and I'm only talking about it because I have experience with, as I'm a developer of a competitive programming platform), we see is far more superior qualities than the current one because: (1) doesn’t limit the rating that you win or lose after every game, meaning that (1.1) a smurf account will easily go back to the highest rating that it belongs - in the same way that (1.2) someone that got boosted playing with friends will easily go back to their rating with a losing streak which also means that (1.3) killers and survivors boosted by items will go back to their rating faster, yet (2) it is not limited, meaning that the developers can easily see if their game is being survivor/killer favoured by looking to the average gain of the most skilled players of every side. On top of that, the Glicko2 system is easy to implement, since it’s a known mathematical model. And just needs to be adapted to the non-symmetrical design that this game has, which is also easy, just needs creativity.

But I suggest you to give up on that. We'll still have red rank potatoes and tons of misplacements because someone don’t see that this game can have a casual and competitive side simultaneously, and is ignoring this type of community requests for ages. Just play the game casually as it’s meant to be right now.

Sorry for any english mistakes, I'm ESL.

I agree it's stressful for a lot of reasons. I really want to get good at killer but it's so hard to get good experience when I'm always matched against purple and red ranks when I'm barely gold rank so it's very disheartening.

I understand that matchmaking is the core issue being worked on right now so i don't want to complain to much about it since it's been acknowledged and is being addressed but in the wait for it it really makes the killer experience very unenjoyable

Because people want to like the game and want it to improve and want their frustrations heard.

Would you... rather everyone just quietly leave the game with no reason as to why?

Sorry that many of us don’t share your stress.

Letting a game get to you isn’t healthy. Perhaps try something else.

I don't see it like that at all. If they wanted to do that, they wouldn't try to do this drama talk attempt to gain some kind of empathy from people, and what not by saying how genspeed is garbage, how they can't deal with it. They can just leave the game, devs already know all that was said in this post anyway. People make threads about swf and genspeed daily, they get enough ######### about it,and get trashed from half their community. So yeah,to answer your question,I would. Because there's tons of answers on the main problem already.

Honestly I agree. Filtering out the players who whine all the time might actually make people take the forums more seriously.

Why do people leave bad Yelp reviews?

If I had been smart I'd have looked at the forums before I bought the game just to see the lay of the land. I didn't expect a perfect game of course (4v1 games are incredibly difficult to balance well) but I legitimately had no indication that the game would pretty much always be scarier (or at least anxiety inducing) as a killer than a survivor from anything put out by their marketing. It's almost absurd, at this point - like a parody of a horror game.

I haven't quit, though I'm playing much less, because I think the bones are there for the game that was advertised to me and would be fairly easy to fix. I try to post with constructive criticism and ideas for making the game better, because it's the most direct way to having a voice heard by people that can change anything (even if the chances of that are negligible).

That being said, I don't mind the frustrated posts looking for validation from people who have had enough. People don't like being fooled.

why you bait him without no reason ? "Baby killer tears" "crying" and stuff like this ? He speak the truth. I play Killer and Survivor on Rank 1 too and i know how ez Survivor is. Siriously i give a **** about your opinion because i hate toxic wriding ppl like you. You are 100% a Survivor main trying to defend SWF´s. But let me tell you something. Fact: SWF´S is a low, cheat and ez mode and every Survivor on Rank 1 with theese groups are carried by SWF. Thats my opinion. I don´t like it and that´s why i allways play solo, cause i like the Challenge.

It's just a game, if you're getting frustrated, take a break or play something new.

I mean you should sweat at red ranks. It should not be ez. Why would you want to play a game and just steamroll everyone at the top tier.

It's an asymmetrical game, so ofcourse and top killer is going to have to sweat against four top tier opponents, as it should be.

If you are consistently getting destroyed, perhaps you are at the wrong ranks. Although I will concede that rank 9 killers are probably playing rank 1 survivors right now.

Remember it's just a game, if you get destroyed, respect your opponents skill and move on.

I would agree with you but the game population and the forum population are two different entities in the community.

This forum like every other one, serves as a place to leave your questions, suggestions, frustrations, etc. But not because something is a trend here it means that it aplies to every person that play this game.

The people that post here is just a part of total population, i just recently started to interact with this forum only because sometimes is hard to believe that the people posting here even play this game. All the people that i know that play this game dont even bother coming here, some arent even aware that this forum even exist. And thats because they just play the game.

I see no problem in trying to make constructive criticism, but here it just looks that people only come here to whin about that one game that they couldnt win because "game bad me good how did i lose". If you dont enjoy the game, just leave man maybe it will get better in the future.

I don't see anything wrong with feedback, though this should be in the feedback section. I take part in many gaming forums, and most have rules against leaving posts unless they also offer valuable feedback -- and are also labeled as feedback. I think this one does everything but the latter. It's not a post just saying "game bad", it's a post explaining why it became bad for them and saying some things they'd like to see.

However like most leaving posts, OP should consider perhaps they are also burnt out as well. There is a solution for this too if you're on Steam: Check profiles with friend's list. I don't go against 3-4 man SWF teams because my experience has been bad with them as well.

@Clevite A top tier killer should have to sweat against a top tier group of survivors, of course. The problem is that a group of top tier survivors never has to sweat. Somewhat hyperbolic, but the sentiment is accurate - in a game of equal "skill" level, the killer will have a much harder time than the survivors. That is not healthy.

@MyersRulz No, the forum is not representative of the community as a whole, but it's a useful place to gather info about the game in the aggregate. One bad restaurant review about the awful chicken fingers could be a one-off - someone had a bad night, different tastes for different people, etc. But if there are tons of bad reviews about the chicken fingers it's an indication that something is off.

If I had visited the forums and seen how every other post seems to be how a killer either just gets absolutely boned in the current meta, a story about a killer defying the odds of... being matched with four survivors trying to "escape," or incessant complaining about tunneling/camping (a symptom of poor balancing, not a problem in and of itself), I probably wouldn't have purchased the game - even though when I bought it I was hoping to play survivor. That's on me. But I don't want people to stop because it could help other people interested in a 4v1 asymmetric horror game, which, at this point, Dead by Daylight is certainly not.

Really good take, i didnt meant to say that everyone here just come to whin, i know that people can get frustrated and thats totally fine, but it gets to me sometimes just seing people post the same thing over and over again.

Fair enough and with that i agree to a certain point.

But if people could come and make points like you do maybe every post wouldnt look like a bad yelp review.

Not sure what point you are trying to put across here. It always sucks to lose but you can’t expect to steamroll teams all the time. I also highly doubt you are facing high rank sweaty SWF’s every game.

If you are a high rank killer then you should have to try hard to win. That’s just the nature of a competitive game.

Thought I’d might add that a win is very subjective for killers. For me I’d consider 1-2k a win as I’ll still get pretty much max BP assuming I hooked everyone. Maybe if you go into every game not expecting a 4K you might enjoy the game more.

  • Clevite
    Clevite Member Posts: 4,335

@JustCats , that is not necessarily true. The survivors may indeed be sweating, it is just mitigated by the asymmetrical design. The 4v1 is what allows the survivors a break as the killer attempts to kill someone else.

I think many will agree that survivors gain the upper hand in a match when playing optimally. But an asymmetrical game can't be balanced completely, and we are talking about the very few minority that play at this skill level.

I agree. I'm actually quite surprised that they couldn't incorporate a feature that would prohibit dead survivors from being able to communicate to the rest of the swf team. I'm no developer so I don't know if such a thing is even possible, but it sure would be nice.

Just hook one survivor in basement and camp. It's not that fun but makes the game much less stressful. Use Bubba. And best of all is the survivors are the ones not having very fun for a change.
