Let's argue: overrated perks.
Welcoming all hot takes, unpopular opinions and tough questions. What perks do you find over exposed or overrated? You can pick any perk! Personally, looking back on old ruin, it wasn't very good and was incredibly inconsistent, it felt very unhealthy for me to be running ruin instead of corrupt when corrupt or pop were introduced.

Old Ruin was arguably only a placebo perk and allowed a killer that was going to crush a team to crush them even harder. PGTW can legitimately wreck a high level game when only one or two gens are left. Corrupt I am still feeling out for all killers. My sense is the delay is still only recommended on set up killers like Hag, Trapper, Plague.

Dead Hard.
Handy if you've been unhooked with BT, especially if you are making a bee-line for the exit gates.
Otherwise, it simply delays the inevitable.

I will never use BBQ. I farm blood points just fine.
1 -
Totems have incredibly inconsistent spots, they can be out in the open or hidden, either way a survivor will find and cleanse it quickly.
0 -
Well, it is very useful at loops, otherwise you are going to get downed by any half decent killer who knows how to counter dead hard.
2 -
I love BBQ, the bloodpoints is a huge bonus, but it is amazing on pretty much every killer, it helps me find my next objectives quickly.
4 -
I would agree that people think BBQ is overrated in that players think it does far more than just give the killer bloodpoints. If thrilling tremors gave double bloodpoints, but you only get bonus bloodpoints from a single perk, I would 100% switch on all my killers.

Play With Your Wood is overrated I think. The speed boost is a lot but isn't a must have.

Self-Care
I'm aware a lot of people complain about this perk already, but in the red ranks you'd be surprised with how popular it is. Whether I'm playing as killer or solo queue, there will always at least one person using the perk.
Self-care is overrated in the red ranks particularly because people think it's useful to healing instead of having to search for a med-kit or equip a med-kit every game. Admittedly I used to run it a lot but then I tried out Inner Strength and I've since kept Inner Strength in my build.
With the healing speeds nerfed a while back, self-care became detrimental to the team and allowed the killer to secure an easy kill.

I think this is the first time anyone has mentioned(that I have personally noticed) the other effect of BBQ. In true irony, I MIGHT consider it but; does it do the stationary ping or is it aura reveal so you can track movements in real time? I just try to avoid a uniform perk that all my killers have to have.
1 -
Play with your food is more underrated than overrated, people write the perk off constantly, but when used well on the right killers, it is an amazing and unpredictable perk.
9 -
Agreed, you waste so much time healing when your team mates can heal you faster, when the killer injures and leaves you, they probably want you to heal.
1 -
DS. While a strong perk, it isn't anywhere near the OP level some people make it out to be. As a Spirit
mainenthusiast, I just eat the DS and down them ~10 seconds later.7 -
BBQ, there are far superior tracking perks. It's good for farming and on very high mobility killers otherwise not great.
0 -
Thana I see a lot but I only think it's decent on certain killers and paired with dying light (which is also shite on its own)
1 -
Find most of the highly rated perks highly rated for a reason. I do hate that bbq is the only killer perk with an actual functional boost to bp. It'd be much more niche if it wasn't for the bp.

I don't really like using the term "overrated" since it tends to be used as though it's objective fact rather than just another opinion.
Anyways, I don't like Corrupt Intervention nearly as much as some other people. I think it's useful on certain killers that need time to set up, but that's about it.
1 -
No worries mate, this is all opinions! I personally love corrupt, I think it is great because you can pressure less gens at the start of the game.
0 -
Yeah, it's only really good on legion and plague in my opinion.
0 -
DH, it's pretty bad compared to SB or Lithe.
1 -
Agreed, lithe is such an underrated perk and should be used more than DH.
2 -
Dead hard. Most competent killers expect it and wait for it. It doesn't even work half the time.
1 -
Yeah, I'm aware. :) This wasn't a dig at you or anyone on here. It's just a personal gripe I have with the way some people use that particular word.

Adrenaline.
Sprint Burst effect and maybe a heal AT THE ENDGAME. Let me just play the entire game with only 3 perks for a once-only small boost. Sure, I could clutch out a chase against a killer and be able to run them for a bit longer, but NoED has infinite duration and a smart killer might decide that gates are actually more important right now.
Dead Hard.
Never works. Either extends a chase by all of two seconds at most, unless you've planned out everything with a pallet nearby or can be used to bait out and possibly confuse newer killers in the lower ranks.
Unbreakable.
If I'm slugging you, I WANT you to use your Unbreakable. I'm wasting time with you eating dirt.
Whispers.
I have found this perk only useful on Doctor to use with Static Blast. That is it. I know that it's meant to be good tracking, but it really doesn't work for me.
Corrupt Intervention.
I don't immediately rush for a generator. I instead look for totems, and possibly a chest. Locking down some generators at the start is a huge waste of a perk to me because it's again, a one-use-only perk, and doesn't affect me that much considering my main goal now isn't strictly generators. Especially since the whole "gen-rush" thing negatively affects both sides. I perform better, and rank up faster, by playing in a solo setting and playing in longer games. Corrupt literally helps me do better as a survivor.
Quick & Quiet.
The killer is going to be looking at you half the time. No real point in using the perk then now, is there?
1 -
Brutal Strength
The time gained is extremely minor and there are much better perks for the slot.
1 -
I agree with all of this, even whispers. Whispers seems very situational for me and once you start hooking people it can become worthless.
1 -
Lithe gives crazy distance and after the vaulting fix, you're unlikely to get dedicated which makes it even better.
1 -
The only weakness to lithe is the game map in my opinion.
0 -
Corrupt Intervention. It's not that ultimately useable as many people maybe think.
0 -
Do you not like whispers on pig? Guarantees you'll never be crouchwalking for no reason, ofc it was better when her terror radius was smaller...
1 -
Ruin, Surveillance, Nurse's and BBq. Only build I've ever needed. Tried Whispers before Nurse's, back in the days of old Ruin and hatch stand-offs. Didn't help in the slightest for a majority of my games. Still doesn't.
1 -
Ah, sorry I forgot that one since I don't play much pig, but yes it's amazing on pig when combined with monitor and abuse.
2 -
I've been able to activate it pretty easily on that map. If you path it correctly, it's still very easy to activate.

Corrupt Intervention and Discordance.
Despite Adrenaline and Unbreakable being situational, I still have matches where I put my hands on the head and ask myself why I didn't bring these perks into the match, so I really can't bring myself to call them overrated.
1 -
CI is good on hag and trapper. Otherwise its wasted and does little to nothing to stop gen rush. MOST gen slowdown perks are overrated on most killers.
1 -
Mobility killers can easily patrol 4 generators, and having to patrol less on any killer helps.
1 -
Corrupt Intervention for me. My main killer is Trapper and never felt the need to ever use it. I'd rather play with 4 perks instead of 3.
1 -
Mobility killers can get across the map stupid quick and are better served using discordance to get quick multiple hits at tge beginning. Plus its not gone after 2 mins, you still have it.
For non mobility killers tgeres usually 1 survivor that spawns near you and 3 that spawn close to eachotger, so if youre THAT worried about it run whispers and check tge gens closest to you first, and again it has tge benefit of not being gone in 2 minutes. Discordance also does great on nonmobility killers since survivors usually bunch up on tge first gen.
Its a stupid perk for anyone that isnt trying to lay traps
0 -
It's an aura read, so you see them in real time.
1 -
Hhmmm...... ######### it. I'm gonna try it out.
0 -
Self care gets a bad wrap because many people tend to use it in bad situations when they should be doing something much more effective. Would you rather have 2 survivors not doing gens or anything else productive for 16 seconds or 1 survivor not doing gens or something productive for 32 seconds? There is no loss of time even though it seems like it. When used correctly it is a completely fine perk.
1 -
Decisive Strike. I stopped running it because it ended up being a wasted slot for me. If a team is playing well and a killer isn't camping, usually I don't get found and downed before the timer runs out.
Overcharge. I ran it when I first started Doctor, but there are better perks to run for gen regression. (Though not sure if this is overrated, and usually I just see it on Doctors.)
1 -
I used to always use overcharge and collectively realised it's meh.
2 -
Deliverance.
I always get found and hooked first whenever I run it and the broken part is just even worse.
1 -
I find I get a lot of game slowdown from thana when running doc. He finds people with little effort, so most games there is usually 2-3 injured and one hooked at anytime. Maybe I'm overestimating its impact as if you have enough pressure to hurt and hook everyone its probably contributing more to slowdown than the perk.
DH I often find either makes survivors run back into your face to draw a hit or mistime it and get hit anyway. Unless you are using it to bridge the distance to a pallet or window it doesn't seem to do a lot in a chase I find. Often it breeds over confidence and I get a free hit. Except when folks DH through a trap, then its a bummer.

Pretty much everything you said. At this point, seeing survivors only ever running these perks with only a little variation isn't even all that tilting or annoying anymore, it's just tiresome and boring.
Borrowed Time still has a special place in my heart as someone who mained Bill when they were a budding new player, and I only use it as insurance to secure a safe unhook, not to be obnoxious and farm.
BBQ and Chili is a perk that, strangely enough, I've actually used less and less frequently as I've played the game. I use it on Huntress, Oni, Ghostface, and that's it mostly. If I equip it on other killers, it's because I'm in need of bloodpoints and have been having bad matches prior.
Decisive Strike just makes me roll my eyes whenever I know a survivor has it. I usually just try to get it out of survivors early in the match. I only get really irked when I accidentally pick up a survivor 59 sec after they were unhooked. I swear 60 sec is way too long for a perk that's honestly not even all that amazing.

Urban + Self Care. Easy stuff lol
