define "toxic"

This is a word that people have thrown around in this community so much and for so long that I don't REALLY understand what it means, being reasonably new to the game still. I have a feeling it means different things to different people and that what crosses the line into the realm of "toxic" for some, might not for others.

Please help me understand what the word "toxic" means to you, or give me some concrete examples of what constitutes "toxic" behavior.

Toxic behavior is a very subjective term in this community. Depending on someones perspective something as simple as not letting the last survivor get the hatch or using NOED could be considered toxic. Generally speaking the community consensus on concrete toxic behavior is BM behavior such as flashlight clicking, tea bagging, facecamping, insulting in the post game chat, etc. Something that serves no purpose other than to frustrate another player or try and ruin the game. Its difficult to define in this community but those are just some of the hallmarks.

Toxic behaviour is when the killer is trying to kill you

    Examples that I consider toxic

Killer: Repeatedly striking someone on the hook, facecamping, standing on the open hatch
Survivor: Tbagging, refusing to leave open gates, infinite looping
General: Rude or nasty comments in after game chats on pc or messages on console.

Only one i disagree with is standing on the open hatch.

Telling somebody to "#########" is toxic, being a total jerk and just being rude. Deliberately bad mannered (BM) the killer like throwing down pallets and spamming signal. That's toxic to me, some people seem to think it has something to do with using 2nd chance perks but I hardly think that using a perk makes somebody "toxic" or even using an item. People do indeed throw the word around like it's going out of fashion though.

Toxic is a behaviour/vocal led reaction that people employ to on purposely upset another. It's always been a problem within the gaming community, in fact its common place through the world of the internet, from a flippant remark on twitter to sending dogs abuse to a killer in Dead by Daylight because you died too quickly. Mostly the toxic behaviour is without real reason, is devoid of common sense and a total over reaction. #stopthehate
