Is this a hostage situation?
I just had a game where pyramid Head cornered me outside of the new map. Then he used his sword to do that thing with the ground to do thing that hurts you.

Making sure I understand this: He bodyblocked you and then downed you with his ranged power?
If so, that's not any more of a problem than a trapper that bodyblocks and puts a trap at your feet, or a Hillbilly who blocks and saws. It's only a problem if he stood there and refused to down you or move away.

He stood there with malicious intent I couldn’t flee.

The question is specifically if he downed you though. If he downed you the game was still playing out and it’s not a hostage situation. If he blocked you and then stood there not moving or progressing towards downing you, AND you were the only one left and EGC wasn’t happening, that’s taking the game hostage since the game will never end unless he moves/attacks or one of you DCs.

Lol

lol all you want but it won’t be funny when it’s you.
0 -
Then no it’s not a hostage situation as his goal is to kill you not force you there until you dc

@Peanits please lock.

Bodyblocking is a valid strategy though, provided he hits you in a reasonable timespan.
I've bodyblocked people in corners to chainsaw them or when cloaked as Wraith to trap them for an easy M1 after uncloaking. Or as Plague to vomit on people to fully infect them. Bodyblocking to wait out borrowed time isn't a hostage scenario either.
It's only a hostage situation if you're stuck in a scenario where you're only real alternative is to disconnect. Like if I body-block someone in a corner and go AFK for an extended period of time (Well over several minutes.) and everyone else is dead with hatch not shut so no EGC.
If he body-blocked to hit you with his ranged attack, that's not a hostage situation.

I just enjoyed how you phrased that is all

If you or your team can't end the game under normal circumstances. Then your game is being held hostage
A killer bodyblocking a single survivor while the rest of their team is alive isn't actually holding the game hostage as the others can do gens and let the egc kill you
Not that that's okay but it isn't a hostage situation
0 -
I never disconnect because my brother says it penalizes you.
1 -
It's not a hostage situation unless he just keeps you trapped there seemingly indefinitely. If he locks you in a corner and hits you, it's fair game because either then you can just run through him or you'll be downed.
An example of a hostage situation would be if he blocked you in the corner as the last Survivor and simply kept you there without closing the Hatch to start the Endgame Collapse.

He kept me there indefinitely sometimes I wish survivors could kill the killers😒.

Was the rest of the game continuing regardless, or was the game at a standstill?
0 -
Standstill indefinitely
0 -
Okay, so you could not do anything, and the other Survivors were not finishing the gens and leaving?
0 -
Yes that’s correct
0 -
That doesn't make a ton of sense. Why aren't the other Survivors doing anything?
0 -
My guess is, to force the killer's hand. If they don't do anything, the killer is holding the game hostage, so the killer is forced to act against his own best interests.
2 -
Hes a supernatural serial killer. Everything he does is with malicious intent. Tge question is did he hold you there for 10 mins plus or did he down you
0 -
Wouldnt they be holding the game hostage if tgey wont do gens?
1 -
Have you ever been paired with teammates who don’t leave when they could ?.The killer stood there intentionally making sure I couldn’t leave I thought about disconnecting but There’s the whole penalty system.

It's a bit of a grey area, but this is how I see it:
- The survivors refusing to repair gens are holding the game hostage.
- The killer blocking the other survivor is holding the game hostage.
- The survivor being blocked is not holding the game hostage; they are being held hostage.
- The killer can hit and hook the survivor they are holding hostage and progress the game state.
- Since the killer is the one who started holding someone hostage, the survivors' actions could be argued as being part of a strategy to prevent the activation of NOED, BW, Rancor, etc..
Keep in mind that, again, this is how I see it. I'm just giving my opinion.

It was a little more then 10 my teammates could of left but for some reason they decided to stay. Eventually though the killer finally killed me.
0 -
too bad lol. If he blocked you then downed you then it isn't holding the game hostage.
0 -
Explain to me where I said I was downed? I was standing when he cornered me.
0 -
It's the killers job. Stop survivors from escaping and be malicious. Killer did what he should do.
1 -
By deliberately making it so I can’t move standing in front of me then sure😐call it the killers job.

He’s...a killer..? Did you want him to give u a high five then leave?
0 -
If he held you in place that long id say yeah you should report him. Thats ridiculous

I guess the way I would see it, I'd say that EVERYONE is holding the game hostage in a situation like this (except the one person who is trapped). Neither Killer nor Survivor are contributing toward ending the game, and both sides are collectively contributing to ensuring that the trapped Survivor can do nothing except DC.
1 -
Yes, everyone is holding the game hostage, but as I mention in my last point, because the killer initiated it, the survivors' actions could be argued to be strategic in nature, and thus excusable.
1 -
Yeah if it was 10 minutes in a standstill it's a gray area and might be a hostage situation, although the other survivors could do generators and open the gates to force EGC. Still scummy though.
I was initially under the impression when I first saw this thread maybe he bodybocked you for like 5 seconds to hit you like I do with BIlly when I corner a survivor and I chainsaw them but if it was for 10 minutes just sitting there, that's definitely a while.

malicious intent 🤣
