Making Money Off others Fame....Why?

Jackel Member Posts: 23

DBD should be creative and develop there Killers and Survivers....

When there are so many possibilities with a killer y'all create....

Like , Wolf, Spider, some kind of alien, ect

So many players have made several suggestions of some really awesome killers and Survivers, So why base your game on other people's Fame,

Create your own line of Killers and Survivers like the game idea was base on.

Like the way the Game started y'all's own

Killers and Survivers Ideas.......

How often are you going too run into someone who has never bought DLC? Original characters net them a ton of money. The rest of your statement I agree on, but saying the original characters don't give them money is just a lie lol.

I only bought demogorgon because he required me to BUY him. Otherwise I would have saved up shards.

I like the licensed content lol. Halloween DLC is what originally got me into the game. Being able to play as my fave characters from horror franchises? Hell yeah.

It's kind of like complaining about movies using well known actors.

People respect and see things like Myers/Freddy/Silent Hill and see that other companies have put their trust in BHVR to create something that is similar and comparable to what we already see from said franchises, it brings in customers, and with this game allowing you to chose to play those it's almost more fulfilling than watching the movies they're in.

Because it brings in players and money. I only bought DbD originally because I could play as Michael Myers.

Dont blame them, blame the fact that some people only see validity/familiarity in already established IPs ... This is the same for artist/fanartist and video games. You bring in licensed franchises to stir up interest and THEN ... MAYBE ... people will be interested in your original creations. This isn't a good or a bad thing, it just is, besides thier original killers already outnumber the licensed ones so.... I dont know what to tell ya bud. Its not like they arent doing it.

You joke, but the game sees a huge spike in peak players every time a licensed content chapter drops. They do make a difference for the game's exposure. The problem is that Behaviour is a group of stand-up ball-droppers when it comes to making the game palatable to new players.

I don't agree with the mindless assertion that "that's all licensed killers are," though. That's just stupid. Every killer is a unique design that they put a lot of thought into.

And to the OP: Because the licensing deals probably work out great for both sides. Dead by Daylight is part of a larger conversation about the horror genre, license-holders probably get a nice cut, and we all get cool iconic characters that we've known for years. Also, it's not like they aren't already doing what you're asking, because roughly 2/3 of the game's characters are original creations.

I'm hearing you, but damn, what the hell is with your typing. Also I like to think BHVR can make almost anything fit in DBD, but a lot of people don't seem to get DBD has a very specific tone and theme to it. Clown is the best example. Everyone wanted some dumb Pennywise clown, but BHVR did a really good job at making a clown killer really fitting for DBD.

That is my point why not use your own Ideas.....It is appreciated more than something that was already thought up...

Like the Spider, or the Zombie , or werewolf would be Great.....

I understand, I'm not saying don't use them.

I just think that they can make really good killers on there own, I mean they could do an Iconic killer like werewolf. Etc

People actually request licensed killer though? 100+ gibbe Jahson from Thurday the 14th threads every time it's hinted there will be a licensed killer.

Love how you say they can be creative and then you give examples as a wolf or a spider...

And they do make their own killers. 13 of the 20 Killers they made themselves.

Freddy and Mikey got me into the game, it is actually pretty cool to be able to play your favourite slasher. We get a lot of original content that is great as well!

Came for the Ghost Face, stayed for the game. Pyramid Head is now my number 2.

Complaining about licensing? What? This is one of the most awesome things the Horror community had ever had to engage with each other. LOL

Setting aside your post being half-legible, you fail to understand that your tastes don't comprise the tastes of everybody else that plays the game. Some people like licensed characters. Some people do find appeal in the idea of playing as, say, Michael Myers and slashing dudes up. Just because you don't like that doesn't mean that there isn't a demand for it.

Also, I find it weird that you call this "making money off others fame" when it's a symbiotic relationship. It's not like they're just stealing an idea and putting it in -- they have a license and share profits with the original owners, which in turn helps them. On top of that, it gives their work exposure. I don't think I ever really got interested in watching Stranger Things before the chapter came out in DbD, for example.
