Why some people have issue with the old event skins being giving out for free
I've seen a lot of people mention that the old event skins do not look as good as the skins that are being released now, so why do people care that they are now given out for free?
It's not about their aesthetics but rather what they represent. What the old event skins represented was that the player that owned that skin has not only been playing the game for a long time, that they had to grind to earn that skin (single cosmetic, not a full cosmetic set).
For the Summer BBQ Event the grind was added to the fact some survivors would run to areas of the map with Boil Over so you couldn't hook them on an event hook. And some killers would just focus on guarding the event gens.
When I saw a David with the Donkey Jacket, I knew that David has been playing the game for a long time (Although most David's I saw with the Donkey Jacket played like donkeys).
When I saw a Hillbilly with the Pro-pain Hammer, I knew that Hillbilly must have been playing the game for more than two years.
For me personally the Summer BBQ Event was what got me into playing as the killer, as before I would only play survivor. A month and a half later I got to rank 1 as killer for the first time.
If it wasn't for the Summer BBQ Event I may have never got into playing as the killer, I might still be a survivor main that never plays killer. I'd be making posts about how "Pyramid Head is OP". Thankfully I now play both sides.

People have a issue with it because when we earned them we were told they would never return but because behavior cant stand behind their own words and need to back peddle they decide to go against their own words and give them out for free might as well just give legacy out its clear they don't want anything to stay exclusive.

No, they didn't. They gave away exclusives and were originally going to give away the event items as well, but then they went back on that.
I don't have the tamed donkey jacket. Wanna know why? Oh, yeah... they didn't give it to people.

Idk, imagine you did a bunch of chores around the house to get $10 from your parents. Now imagine the next day your sibling got $10 and didn't have to do any chores. Kinda like that

The only thing that made you earn them was playing the game at this time. The Objectives (Hooks and Generators) were nothing special - just usual gameplay.

Yeah, I don't see why Bhvr is giving out event only cosmetics for free/purchase. It's one thing if it was the blight stuff since you can't possibly get all the serums for every event item but for the donkey jacket, hound mask, pro-pain,ect that is kind of disrespectful for those that spent the hours playing and earning the cosmetics just to have a fresh player just buy them. I never played a game that just sold 1 time event only items later down the line, they'd recolor "duplicates" but never sell the original item.
Especially odd that the charms are perma-lost while the supposed 1 time event only items can just get bought.

Imagine a friend giving you a bracelet to signify your many years long friendship, only to someday have him give the same kind of bracelet to a girl after a week of acquaintanceship. You still have the bracelet, but it's nowhere near as important ...
For many people it's not about the cosmetics, it's about the meaning behind them.

I personally don't care, but i can see why they'd be upset.
From the moment i heard from them that they couldn't give 100% of the players who earned them the rewards back, i knew that whichever decision would lead to at least some disappointment.

I'd say this is more like doing chores to get 10 bucks, and then your sibling gets 10 bucks without having to do chores about two years later. :P

They dont care at all its better to just accept nothing will be exclusive or timed the upcoming event skins i say give it a week and then they'll release them because its "in the communities best interest"

I guess you didn't play against Doctors that just guarded the Summer BBQ Event gens, or Kates' running to corners of the map so you couldn't put them on an event hook.

While i understand you're upset, free cosmetics are a blessing to me.
I don't buy any cosmetics, so my characters always have the same skin. Having these free cosmetics will at least give me some options rather than seeing the same thing over and over again.

Maybe I just dont understand, but event cosmetics in nearly every other game I've played... always, like come back? During the next matching event? So that the items are available for everyone during said event?
I understand that the event is not out currently, but from what I have read these specific items were gifted before the rift/shop. So maybe they are gearing up for another summer event? Or maybe they wanted people to have more skins?
Like, I get wanting exlusive items. But also, these are things that don't affect gameplay and were also originally free.
And there are only four items. Like why be so upset over someone else being given something fun that doesnt hurt your game experience?

All my shards are spent to buy killers and perks since i don't buy original DLC. At this moment i still haven't unlocked clown despite hunderds of in-game hours..
This game is particularly grindy you know...

Dude the thing is like. I'm not a hard-core player, I've been playing since the nurse update, I have a total of 1300h and just got the time to move up to rank 1 with my free time from corona chan...
I remember sweating my ass off to get these "exclusives". It wasn't about the skins it was about that "exclusivity"!When I started the game, I didn't knowledge or the power to grind my way to that sweet legacy prestige so when I could get my hands on my own piece of "exclusive" getup, I freaking worked for it! Now I’m just left with the sensation that my pride and work just got robed away from me...
To make just some kind of analogy imagine having some kind of collector’s item that you had to scout for some time then pay a hefty price for just to find out a few years later that the same factory that produced these items started running again and is just giving away these items away to everyone for literally nothing! Think about it...

Except the difference is everyone else didn't get the $10 the next day. It wasn't until years later.
Think of it like you earned the privilege to use the cosmetics for years before anyone else. Now you've had your fun and it's everyone else's turn.

Why would people have issues with Legacy clothes giving out for free? They wrote in the announcement that it would be unfair for those guys that participated since 2016. So it is ok if you just participated since 2017? Like because you didn't get the old bloodweb system? What kind of "excuse" is that? I got the bloodweb system when it only had 2 perks for ever, and not 3 or four. Why is that irrelevant and that I'm playing since 2017?
The cosmetics were a reward for participating, same with Legacy. Different measurements

Except that's not how "event" items work. If you weren't there for the event, why should you get whatever reward that was given to participants during that event? That defeats the novelty purposes of it and makes event participation worthless. Why should I work hard in these rifts to get the exclusive content just for all the items in it to possibly be given away freely with no effort down the road?

And I wonder what "the comunities best" is for their understanding. From forum feedback it reaches from idc to heavily disappointed. I didn't see a lot of positive feedback yet

That's because what is there to be positive about? nothing really the veterans continue to get the middle finger while new players get everything they ask for but again im not shocked this dev team has already proven they will cave in to peoples demands. It's honestly to that point where they should just stop doing events all together people wanted to earn the cosmetics because them being "exclusive" meant something and behavior saying they would never give them back out meant something but hey man its behavior im honestly not shocked but event cosmetics no longer mean a damn thing at all.
