Can I get banned for lagging?
Hello, I have to admit from the start that I have poor connection and sadly I cant get any better where I live.
I often lag in trials, either getting stuck in animations or just plain teleport randomly when my ping goes up. Sometimes my internet has a seizure and dies for a few minutes, kicking me out of the match and gives me the penalty, which while annoying is reasonable. But it made me wonder - can I get banned for hacking if people report me for it when i teleport randomly? Usually my game just freezes and wakes up when im already hooked, but sometimes i get downed somewhere else than where the killer hit me, since i was lagging and killer saw me somewhere else, they come to conclusion that i cheat (but tbh why would i use a cheat that makes me tp when downed, kinda stupid lol).
So, if enough people report me, will I get banned?

You can potentially get banned, yes.
If you continuously play the game but acknowledge that you have a poor connection that may give you an advantage (“teleporting”) or keeps disconnecting you, you need to look to get a better connection or stop playing until then.
You are ruining the matches of many players for your selfish needs and you need to acknowledge that you need to fix the issue, not hope that BHVR will ignore you so you can continue to play on a poor connection.

Thats a pretty harsh look on it and I dont feel like its nessessarly on point.
I lag often, but not always. Basically when its a good day for my wifi and its stable enough i can make killers dc, or survivors when im the killer, i think im good enough to not call it selfish to play, lag shortens my chases yeah, but im usually still ending up with more points than randoms healing in corners. Lag usually just works against me, like when i lag for a few seconds and cant loop for too long because of it, cases where i tp are rare, but still happen, thats why it got me worried.
Dont think i dc like all the time, its not more than 1-3 in a day, sometimes 0, but still. Im not exactly a useless teammate hurting their team, just a bit crippled with my ping that happens to have heart attacks...

Did you literally just “Teleporting” due to poor connection is fine if you’re a good player?!?
You need to get it out of your head that it’s just fine because it’s honestly not. You are essentially cheating by “Teleporting”.
Unless something urgent happens, you should not be Disconnecting. You are intentionally ruining the matches of 28 - 84 players a week by playing the game with poor internet conditions and acknowledging the issue.
The lag isn’t a big issue, but the Disconnecting and “Teleporting” need fixing before you consider playing another game.

As I stated before, its not often, by teleport i also mean just teleport for me, where i stand and then im randomly on the hook, which happens a lot more times than just changing position on the ground.
You got the numbers wrong since I CLEARLY said its rare, i dont get reported often like that, i just do sometimes when the lag is really bad and then they want to report me. Some understand and others not and send a report.
I asked for yes or no pretty much, so possible yes is enough, no need to dwell more on it.

I based the numbers from what you told me, “Dont think i dc like all the time, its not more than 1-3 in a day”.
Multiply that by 4 (the amount of players in-game), and by 7 (days in a week), and hey presto, 28 - 84 is the rough amount of DC you have in a week. I’m not exaggerating the issue, you’re downplaying it.
I’m trying to show you that there is a problem with you doing this, and not just ‘You will eventually be banned’.

It would be true if i played all the time, everyday, which i dont have time to do. And even if i do find enough time to play more, sometimes it doesnt happen for a week or so, because its random. Honestly people who suicide on hooks instead hurt teams more than me, since they can just jump in another game and do the same while i have penalty to endure. And its not like i dc only on the begging of the match, which first hooks can do, sometimes i dc before i escape, basically only hurting me and my points that i worked hard for.

The problem is, DCing shouldn’t be happening at all. You should try and fix the issue your end rather than deflecting the problem by pointing out other issues as an excuse.

You can’t be banned for just lagging. But if enough people think you are cheating I’d be careful when you play. I’ve been having issues with my WiFi after I got a new connection. With this new WiFi I can only play when only one person is on it otherwise it’ll lag. They say it’s the best WiFi I can get. And sometimes when my WiFi is updating itself it’ll lag even though no one else is on it. I’d say about 90% of my games go fine while the other 10% I’ve experienced rubber banding and lag spikes. In these games if these problems consistently continue I’ll dc because it’s not fair to play against that. So my advice is don’t use multiple devices on it at the same time, unplug your router and plug it back in, make sure when you go into a lobby the ping consistantly stays green or yellow. If it turns red while everyone is still in the lobby find a new lobby. The servers can cause lag for you too.

Honestly I think it shouldn't even be possible to search for a match unless the connection meets a certain minimum requirement. Even if you think your connection "has a good day" you can be laggy as hell from a survivor's point of view when you play killer as hits are still killer-sided so everything looks A LOT different on your screen than on the survivor's end. That's most likely the reason why players disconnect against you.

If you play as killer then I hope that you can get banned but in reality you won't...

I'm curious, are you by any chance "VoidError"in steam?

Your connection seems to be like mine when is raining

The thing is during matchmaking their connection might be fine but in match starts to spike at random intervals
To the op. I have the same problem after having internet problems. And out of respect for other players I've quit this game untill i can get more stable connection
