when can we expect a fix for the event cakes?

Isn't Montreal in Quebec? Where BHVR is located?
2 -
They most likely have a time limit that wasn’t big enough for testing. It’s DBD tho, it can be full of bugs.
0 -
Yes, but since it's only a holiday in Quebec it's technically not a "national holiday", which is completely irrelevant to the point that was being made.
1 -
True, I missed the point.

I wasn't referring to you, I was referring to the other guy.

Bugs happen with every piece of software - correct.
The ISSUE here is, BHVR and to a lesser extent (which is actually hard to fathom) Bethesda are the only companies that seem to consistently release patch after patch after patch with at least 1 game breaking bug in it. BHVR is also the company who CONSISTENTLY breaks sound at least a few times a year, and are one of like 2 companies who hold OPEN BETA's and DO NOT FIX THE REPORTED ISSUES. DBD's patches literally release with more issues than Batman: Arkham Knight on PC did in 2015; and as others have said, they're anniversary event literally being broken is the cherry on the proverbial cake.
You are blatantly ignoring actual evidence in favor of just blindly defending their lacking QA and trying to justify it. You have no logic to stand on here, and you can't win this. You're literally just quoting things you googled. "All software has bugs".
1 -
Good to see you got my point.
Not sure how that changes anything I said.
1 -
I literally took two different classes about programming, but OK.
EDIT: My bad, it was actually three, with two more focused on specific aspects of programming and its use in solving mathematical problems and physical simulations, both of which are also applied to games.
1 -
Two classes. Big rep to you bud.
I'm a 6th year programming and production assistant at Ubisoft Montreal. Started just before Assassin's Creed Unity was released (which was itself riddled with bugs - and still not to the point DBD is). You sure you want measure ePeens here?
2 -
They gotta finish counting their money first.
0 -
Activision/Blizzard, PUBG and Riot to name a few. It really isn't that uncommon. Bugs happen and they get fixed, which will bring more bugs and then they get fixed. It is a never ending cycle.
1 -
Not measuring anything, you're the one who wanted to dismiss what I'm saying because you think I'm a layman. If you didn't want me to refute you, then you shouldn't have brought it up.
Also, I corrected the comment, it was technically 5 in total, with two of those focusing on very specific things.
0 -
Don't worry. They joke about how many bugs are in there game on the new loading screen instead of actually fixing them.
Honestly though, things should be polished before being pushed out so fast that you don't have time to.
2 -
.......ridiculous.
0 -
I didn't say you were a laymen; and you didn't even come close to refuting me. You used a generalized statement, which does not apply to this specific case.
Look man, I'm not trying to be an ######### or insult you here. The issue the community has is that this ######### never stops. Yes, software has bugs, but even YOU have to admit that a lot of the bugs DBD tends to contract (for lack of a better term) are GLARINGLY obvious within the first few minutes of playing to the point of "How in the hell did that make it passed QA?". Much like the event bugs we're experiencing now (look at me staying on topic! WOOT!).
From the sound bugs (which is literally every other patch), to the Wraith/Spirit lunge bugs, to the Hag/Freddy bugs last patch. Like, these are all things that took seconds for people who actually play the game to notice. So an adequate amount of actual play testing would have, or SHOULD have been enough if they actually put any effort into it. This is all furthered by the fact, and issue that they have open beta tests for big releases (PTB) and 9/10 times, the live version inherits literally all the bugs in the PTB, whether or not they are game breaking. Like for example - the current sound issues, the balance issues on the new map, and remember the basement hook glitch back when Oni was released that took them 2 weeks AFTER live to fix, even though it had been reported in the PTB 3 weeks PRIOR to release?
It's just a never ending cycle of "#########" moments at this point, and all you seem to be doing is trying to find ways to justify them, or defend them somehow, when they are beyond defending at this point.

Name any game that any of those companies have put out, that HASN'T actually been a beta, that release as many broken patches as BHVR and takes as long to fix them, and repeatedly breaks the same things over and over again (sounds have been off and on broken for years). Go ahead, I'll wait. I'll likely die of old age before you can truthfully answer, though; and I'm only 32.
1 -
Here's the thing about sound bugs, or even most of the bugs you see mentioned on the forum: most people don't have them. The forum is not representative of the playerbase because people are more likely to complain when their play time is interrupted than they are to interrupt their play time on their own and just to come here and say "all is well".
I have criticized the devs plenty, including for them not fixing bugs that I myself reported during the PTBs and the generally lackluster anniversary event compared to how hyped up it was. However, I also defend them when I think the complaints about them are unreasonable. You can disagree with me, but don't assume your perception of them is objective or that it's the only one that matters.
You, and everyone else who agrees that the devs are "beyond defending at this point", is free to stop supporting them whenever you choose. To me, the fact that the game has grown is proof that the bugs everyone keeps complaining about are only affecting a small number of players. Don't let the forums fool you into thinking they're bigger problems than they really are.

Most people? Do you have metrics on that?
Provide metrics, or don't spout numbers.
1 -
League of Legends.

But, seriously, how long does it take to fix a minor bug like gateau's bloodpoints?
I don't understand anything about programming - thus quite naive when discussing about it - but I suppose It wouldn't take more than one or two hours. Above all, I apologize if I'm being ignorant about the subject. Bloodpoint farming, along with the crowns, is what players are REALLY expecting from the event and I just feel disappointed.
Hope the fix will come out soon because I'm really looking forward that level 3 prestige on some of the characters.

Maybe it's not coincidental that LoL is one of the only games that rivals DBD's toxicity.
1 -
Nothing rivals LoL, it is without a doubt the most toxic game I've ever witnessed. I would say DBD is close with CSGO.
0 -
Actually, that's true. LoL is pretty toxic. Remember when Tyler1 played DBD? Imagine if the LoL community came to DBD.
1 -
No, I don't. Do you have metrics to prove that these bugs are easily found?
Let's assume that only 0,1% of all players affected by bugs take the time to report them. That means that the bug report threads you see with half a dozen upvotes (and keep in mind I'm exaggerating big time when I say "half a dozen") could represent about 6000 people with the same issue. On Steam alone, there's over 10x that number of players during peak times.
Since you're in the industry, do you have information on how many players report the bugs they encounter, percentage-wise?
0 -
Yes, I do. Literally minutes after the patch AND events were released, this ######### was found and pointed out.
It was all over the forums.
1 -
The forums are not representative of the community. You know that threads and sometimes entire forums turn into echo chambers very easily. But if you have the numbers, let's see them.
0 -
They may not be representative of the community - but it's more evidence and metric than you can provide.
Plus, it wasn't just the forums. Reputable members of the community (even fog whisperers) mentioned these things within the first hour of their streams.
OhTofu, ScottJund, Bronx, Umbra etc.
So again - keep telling me how "most people don't experience these issues" with absolutely zero evidence or metrics.
1 -
I don't care who reported it, I'm asking you for metrics that show they represent a majority, which would actually prove that the bugs are prevalent enough to be easily detected. I'm going to assume you can't, or you would've done so by now.
0 -
Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm
0 -
Where did I claim a majority experience these issues? I'm very careful with my words, bud. I would never make a claim I can't fully back up with metrics like you do. I said these bugs were EASY TO FIND. I made no mention of a majority. Take your strawman elsewhere.
There's a difference between balance related oversights, like those games experience, and things in the game being bugged to the point where they straight up aren't functional.
1 -
If they were easy to find, then it stands to reason they were widespread. Or did you mean they were "very easy to find" if you had very specific specs and that's why they only affected a minority of players and are actually very difficult for the devs to find?
0 -
If they weren't easy to find, why were the forums flooded with posts about them within minutes of them being released?
Look - your blind defense isn't working. Come up with actual counters, or knock it off.
0 -
If they were easy to find, how come they weren't widespread?
0 -
And both games have game-breaking bugs.
Mercy's Guardian Angel has been bugged for ages, as has Resurrect, Reinhardt's Charge, and many others.
Same with Heroes of the Storm.
In both games, every patch ends up adding more bugs that take a month or so to fix.
1 -
By the way, its still not fixed. I'm resorting to using the few bloody part streamers so atleast other people can get stacked.
0 -
I totally forgot this originally was about cake...
0 -
Relax bro if they take a lot of time they will probably make it up to us with more time of the event like they always do.
