Is farming Etiquette dead?
Back in the day, it was common that a Wraith would spam his bell, or a billy would spam his chainsaw to announce that it was a farming round.
So, In honor of the event, I thought I would do that again. But everytime the survivors were confused.
So, is farming etiquette dead or are there just a lot of noobs who don't know about it?
Edit: No farming, got it

I absolutely despise farming games.
No fun in vs'ing a killer who plays like that.

i tried showing these survivors the locations of crowns yesterday as legion and they didnt follow me or look for them they just humped gens. Then like 4 mins in i said frick it. if they are just gonna play the game so am i and 4k'd them and in post chat they said i was scum and i had tricked them into farming for crowns

Nobody is required to farm

Sounds like another entry in the Survivor Rulebook.

Why are people so anti-farming?
It's a nice break from all of the sweaty tryhards on both sides

Farming is super boring
7 -
I worry less about the etiquette and just play like normal until I've got my BBQ stacks and my non-Sacrifice points maxed. From there I just mess around until they've got their gens and are on the way out. Mess with the survivors so they can get their own points and otherwise let them do their thing.

I'd make the same case for 4 sweaty survivors running the same 4 meta perks and playing on autopilot, or sweaty killers slugging everyone/facecamping one by one/insert various other boring strats, that happen in normal matches most of the time

Well problem is if you farm either side can report the other and devs are pretty strict on it so you can get banned so nobody really wants to take the risk anymore

someone actually said they hate getting free xp? LOL bring the farming games bb if u need challenges this survivor will help u out
3 -
Yes. I've never ran into a Billy or Wraith who's farming by spamming chainsaw or bell. Typically the killer just doesn't hurt the survivor's and that's how you can tell they are farming.
I hate farming though, it's incredibly boring and I usually just DC in those games.

for me if I’m trying to farm with the killer it is custom to drop your item, but some people just smack you anyways which is fair

For me i have to basically prove that I could killer the survivors for them to stop and even then sometimes they just run after i let them wiggle off. I've also had games farming with the killer where i was the only one who understood.
There's a lot of scared noobs and sweaty try hards

Whats wrong with trying your hardest to win?

I personally think it has been awhile so it’s not well known to some. You have to make it really obvious for them to get it but also it very much depends on what you want to do. I get way more enjoyment out of playing seriously but there’s time I will entertain the idea of farming and go with it. There’s also times people just don’t want to farm because at times can be boring and long only for a little extra points. It also is putting a lot of trust into a random killer who could turn on people just to do a challenge or something. It happens and it’s honestly pretty scummy but people wanna play how they want to do if they are taking you seriously you would probably do best to actually play rather than farm or at least until later where I like to farm so that it’s understood you could kill them if you wanted and you are making it very clear you are letting them go so you can get points and them as well so try that.

When I first started playing it was a thing too. Pretty much Wraith before his rework was tough, he had to uncloak to even kick a gen. So back then if it was during a bloodhunt type event, anyone playing wraith was basically playing for BP and not caring if you got away. Back then you ran sloppy on wraith and just whacked everyone and kept them injured LOL

And being camped and tunneled isn't?
1 -
I think they just don't trust the killer - there's alot that will message survivors saying they want to farm only to kill them all fairly quick. Fall for that couple times and you don't trust killers actually want to have a farming match.
2 -
Nothing technically. It just usually leads to a miserable experience for someone in the match. If survivors play optimally and finish gens in 4 minutes the killer won't have a good time. Conversely a killer that tunnels people out of the game means a bad time for those survivors.
1 -
But this game does not have a clear win con. If we go with pips, a 4 man slugfest or tunnel off hook will be harder to pip if you just 3 hooked most people and did lots of chases.
Same for survivor, a 5 min game will be like a black pip at best for a couple survivors and with very little bp gains too.
I try my hardest to win but i don't tunnel or camp, so what am i? I

I dropped low ranked survivors on the spawns and they didn't do anything. They left.

It’s probably this.
I’ve had more killers pretending to farm for easy kills than I have actual farmers in the last 6 months.

Is "Booper of Snoot" a steam name? I think I was your Myers recently. You booped my snoot with a few pallets.

A person who plays the game in a fun way. I do my best as a survivor to not make the game very short. I still try to win. But I want everyone to have fun.

You mark farm by slapping gens these days.
0 -
no even been banned for farm your thinking of working with the killer and that different.
0 -
No someone posted a question about why they got banned for farming a month or so back and one of the mods explained its very much bannable
0 -
never hear that and alot of people farm.
0 -
Well cuz usually people who farm have a group who also wants to farm but if you say have 1 person who doesn’t and you are forcing them to they can report and get you banned when it’s looked into as well as the other players participating
0 -
Few hours ago I came across a farming huntress so a few do just most don't.
0 -
being banned for farming dumb lets see farming is boring but being camped tunnel and slugged blood out fun? and not bannable
0 -
At least you're doing stuff and it doesn't take half an hour before you can queue up again to actually play the game.
Did I say it isn't?
No, I didn't. I said farming is super boring, and it is.
Saying "I don't like apples" doesn't mean "I like oranges".
And at least you get to play the game for a bit if you get camped and tunneled, then you queue up again.
0 -
Agreed.
Then make your own fun out of it?
0 -
I wanna play the game.
If the killer starts farming I finish the gens and leave.
1 -
This completly
Sometimes in fairness there are genuine farms and I dont like them but if I have a challenge or killer has a challenge to do I don't mind as much.
But for example in the past two days alone I've had 3 fake farmers.
A michael who messaged pregame to farm and I said okay but I had stun challenge, 4kd everyone asap and was super cocky about it after
An oni who tapped the gen abd acted friendly and I thought he might have the damage gen challenge so i did but he hit me straight away so he could get his power and down my healthy teammates, really felt crappy after that one
And a legion who only frenzied the whole match but ended up having noed bloodwarden and started being aggressive as soon as gens done (thank god i had detectives hunch though and prevented the noed)
It's the same as how if killers try to let me wiggle out to open exit gate or crawl out as last survivor I literally won't cooperate because more often then not they just troll in the end having wasted your time
Its not a super common thing so Im not mad about it but I think it does come down to a trust issue there definitely
