What's up with the rise of Springtrap in DBD?

Not saying it's a bad thing, I'd be personally fine with the addition. But is there a specific reason why it's been specifically getting a lot of attention?

I also blame the fact that we have our first full chapter from a video game license, and it’s given them a lot of fuel. Especially with the Legion skins that came with it.

I think it mainly has to do with the addition of Silent Hill. People (including myself) just started speculating about what could happen next.

my thought about all this, that basically fnaf was the same type with the release of the first 3-Oh parts and it on this occasion began to hate. What about springtrap in dbd,I like this idea (although this idea is predictable because a maniac left the game and this idea started to be picked up)but still springtrap fits the requirements of a maniac, and it was fun to see the pizza map at Freddie's.Many people think it would be fun to add springtrap to the game, but what about the survivor?

It's because we got a chapter from another game (silent hill), so people want fnaf in the game, which wouldn't fit at all.

Ghosts of dead kids in furry suits would make me not play DBD ever if it did make it into the game. FNAF is just pure cringe lol.

I personally believe that the fandom has changed as i am a part of it actually.

Most of the Fandom is like 16-18 years old at this point & i don't get the hate about the FNAF X DbD as much as i did back then.

I mean it also would just benefit both parties, if they got a Crossover. Springtrap being a Killer would maybe give a lot of Positive Feedback and a better view of the Franchise. The Potential is there but the only thing that's missing is the Tolerance of the DbD Community in my Opinion.

I hope that they consider it at least, as it is a good idea & i appreciate the other comments in here which at least show that some people don't just hate blindly.

i have no idea where all of that is comming from, but personally i would really not want him in DbD.

besides the fact that he would not at all fit our character pattern, i do fear he is going to attract quite a few rather cringey younger people to the game...

and honestly, i would just cringe every time i saw him in a trial... sorry FNaF fans.

What's our character pattern; is there a certain pattern that we've had in the past? If anything, he'd fit our character pattern. It's not uncommon for two licensed characters to be released one after another. If you're referring to the character's aesthetic, I guess that's mostly subjective.

The main thing I struggle to see is how a game that gathered a young audience 6 years ago can bring that same young audience to DbD now. Any 13 year-old who liked FNaF when it was popular are all almost adults now. Even the newer fans of the series are older, due to the older YouTubers with young audiences (such as Markiplier) playing other games.

    EDIT: wording

    Before it was human.

    Currently, it's humanoid.

That's the only rule that the devs actually use. (Besides being horror related of course)

every killer in DbD is a human / humanoid monster (Demodoggo as the only exception to the "only humans" rule).

Springtrap however is a mechanical killer robot. yeah there is a dead human inside of it, but that still doesnt mean it would fit into this game. that would be like saying a Terminator T 800 would fit into DbD, because it kills people and kinda looks humaniod.

also, up to this day i mostly see younger people attracted to the FNaF series - eigther younger people or really cringey older people, so i really just hope they are young (for them). that doesnt mean there were no "normal" FNaF fans out there, but the vast majority i see - or maybe its just the vocal minority, idk - is rather young (no offense).

DbD and FNaF as games couldnt be further apart aswell - when i think of DbD i think of avoiding killers, getting chased around the map or playing said killers and using my power to shorten said chases. when i think of FNaF however, i think of sitting in an office, getting cheap jumpscares thrown in my face from time to time that scare me at first and then get stale and boring after a short while. i really cant see these two games collab tbh.

i just wouldnt want Springtrap in DbD.

i dont think he would fit into this game at all, and thats my opinion on it. feel free to disagree, but i dont think you are going to change my mind on this one.

Also, aren't the animatronic things more bloody and worn than the Robbie suits? This is coming from someone who bought Frank's pink suit, LOVES it and hasn't taken it off this whole event, by the way. Plus, the animal is just a skin, there's a machine inside actively seeking to kill anything it comes across inside. How is that not Horror enough? Ghost face takes a ######### selfie for ######### sake, that wasn't even a thing back in the 90's! I find it hilarious when hardcore "Horror fans" bash stuff for not being scary/aesthetic/serious/etc enough when there is so much god damn campiness in our genre. So unselfaware. LMFAO

If they introduce FNAF into this game, I'll probably just quit at that point. I was on the fence with Demo since he was a monster and not really a Killer, but he grew on me. Last thing I would want is some kiddy robotic AI gone murder happy in here.

This is something that I was hesitant to mention in my "Why a FNaF chapter wouldn't be a bad idea" post. Some people here tend to hold FNaF to a dangerous double standard, but that's a topic for another day.

FNaF is way out of league compared to the likes of other mainstream video game horror titles such as Silent Hill and Resident Evil. Better to create an original killer than waste assets on such a cheap IP that mostly caters to kids that think jumpscare tactics is some deep form of horror.

Not trying to force my opinion or anything, but how are you sure that a FNaF killer wouldn't eventually grow on you as well?

Even if they did make one. I will be a Paragraph? Since I don't think any of the guards are a suit for survivor ngl since they are just idk they have nothing special at all

I'd assume so, but maybe there would be a map as well.

Honestly Springtrap isn't that bad of a killer idea to me, but there's a lot better licensed characters that aren't FNAF that could get in. I won't lose sleep if he gets in but he's... not exactly high on my list.

Probably because of the silent hill chapter. Springtrap would actually fit really good into the game being a serial killer. I know, it's jumpscare horror but is dbd really tied to one type of horror? The demogorgan was from a different kind of horror than the other killers, so I see no problem with it. And the community is not made of cringy kids anymore (allow me to explain). It was popular at the time so that's why cringy kids liked it. Now they have probably moved on to fortnite. Plus, do you really think that a bunch of 8 to 12 year olds would be allowed to play dbd? Or be able to handle the toxic community? No. The devs have even said that springtrap is a likely candidate so I dont see why it should be an argument. The point is, springtrap is more possible than ever now, which is why there is so much hype.

Its definitely because of Silent Hill: I personally think the idea is cool, but there are quite a few other licenses I’d rather see first. The hate is a little annoying, but understandable.

Pyramid head being video game representation, springtrap would be cool, and the original videos that sparked the idea, your chase theme being one of them
